Thing is low miles on a diesel truck is actually bad they don’t do well sitting everything goes soon as you start driving it I also had a 6.0 Powerstroke with 60k miles and it was just like your truck always breaking my 7.3 never brakes with 270
Man you better appreciate that Dad of yours. Going out in the rain to help you fix that truck, he's the real MVP!
I do! I love him dearly!
12 years ago the high pressure power steering hose blew on my F250. I bought a new one from a local parts store and it lasted less than 1 week. I replace it with a used one salvaged from another super duty I was parting out and it is still on there with 100,000kms and no problems to this day.
Super duty is a joke and we use miles not kangaroos
I feel this so much. Bought a 95 5.8 fully loaded Eddie Bauer Bronco that sat for 12 years rusting away in Jersey. I love that truck, just wishing it loved me
too lol.
Sorry to break the bad news to you it hates you. My DD is a 88 bronco I could have bought 2 new trucks for the money I've spent.
Caster angle plays a role. They make caster inserts I believe for that model. It will help with joints as well.
Great video as always, is nice to give all the good and bad things of everything, glad you fix it and hope it will last longer. Greetings from Chile!
Sweet vid thanks for filming through all of the troubles👍👍
Drain ,remove ,close the drain ,fill the housing 60%, with ATF , install the new filter ( lube the o-ring ) and start
I Just bought an 02. Only have done brakes, but the clear difference is that mine is from Texas and doesn’t have a stitch of rust anywhere. Yours looks like a clapped northern rust bucket compared to mine. I do have some minor strange steering problems I believe are due to ball joints.
I’ve owned my 1995 super duty 7.3L over 20 years, welcome to the misery youngster. Good thing the Corvettes always run huh!
My 97 was garbage, needed a new engine. But now it has over 300k miles so not to bad I guess.
@@RipliWitani same, 392k miles replaced the original 7.3L with a Ford reman 7.3L about 7 years ago.
@@RipliWitani the real prize add on for my truck was the gear vendor though. Cruises all day 80 to 90mph and 18-19mpg.
Got an 01 F350 runs like a champ. Just keep up with regular maint. and she'll be good to you.
Jake, you're a total, fricken HOOT !!!!! Glad you got your truck going again. Huge problem today (as I'm sure you and everyone else knows), so much of everything we buy comes from.....you guessed it.....China. Not sure what the answer is, but until we get our manufacturing base back on American soil, this stuff will continue. Looked at a new truck last week...stunned to see on the window sticker; USA sourced parts content; 27%. That's disgusting. Anyway, beautiful truck you have there, love your channel!! And finally; FJB !!!!!
Nice truck
I hate that you're having such bad luck with your truck, but your video storytelling is on point!
nice video keep them coming
Axleshaft u-joints happens a lot.
I switched my 06 F350 to JIC fitting too, if I remember right the fittings that convert to JIC are British metric. I have 250k on that hose. Good luck on your truck, I like what you've done to it
When you need hydraulic hose the farm tractor sales and service dealer will get you fixed up asap. That goes for gaged bearings as well.
Just had the same thing happen with my fuel filter. Stick a thin screwdriver in that thing and pry it out is qhat worked for me.
those front leaf packs look crazy like they belong on a 1950s 2ton truck
Never had that problem with any of those trucks.
damn homie, good luck.
You'll figure out what fuel filter configuration you prefer and then keep the spares on hand in your garage. I am daily driving a 2001 F250 as well, I love it. 240k miles so far and hardly any issues. The 6.0 alternator upgrade and 6.7 starter are nice upgrades. These trucks are so awesome, old school but modern enough and simple to work on. You need a Magnum headache rack on that sucker.
Garbage truck lol my 97 350 gets destroyed by my 98 2500 Cummins
Dang man, truck put you through the ringer…hope things get a bit easier! 😂
I just get the wix filter for my power stroke. It has the cap on it.
Maybe you need to purchase a tow truck? 😂
Good luck mate keep your focus and you’ll get it sorted in the end.
Cheers Pat🇦🇺
NICE VIDEO.....HOWEVER.....DO YOU HAVE A LINK FOR THE CUSTOM HOSE THAT YOU HAD MADE UP?....ALSO....HOW MUCH WAS IT?....THANKS.....
I enjoyed the video enough to give it a thumbs up, but I honestly feel like this video is making these things seem more complicated than they really are. And yes I have a 73 and I've been working on cars and trucks for the past 25 years.
When you're new to fixing trucks, things ARE harder. Especially when your only mentor is the internet. Been going through these things myself.
On the 7.3 the brake booster assists the power steering which is why you loose both at the same time. It also uses ATF which is why you had that smell.
The brake booster does not assist the power steering. The power steering supplies pressure to the hydroboost unit. They both utilize the power steering pumps pressure but do not assist one another.
How did this man describe my experience with an 01 excursion with a 7.3 to the t 😂.
I see the New Hampshire plates. Where in the granite state are you located?
I have transmission fluid puddling under my truck but let me sit there and let it continue to run 🤷♂️🤦♂️
Dawg when are you gonna change the leaf springs
This is why I will never give up my 1970 F250 Camper Special. I am replacing the original carburated 360fe with a fuel injected '88 460 from a Motorhome . Should be a reliable beast.
Anything fuel injected is garbage compared to a modern carb. We used to put them on new ls3 and put put huge power
Another problem you have with Ford trucks is there's almost zero Caster on the front wheels. There is a fix for that. There is a bolt that creates a caster for that upper spindle nut, and it straightens out that lack of castor
You need to drain the filter housing
The 7.3 f250 power steering pumps go out all the time. Good thing they take only 30min to replace
Now, shouldn't there be a locking clip in that power steering hose fitting?
I think we all forget YOU BOUGHT A OVER 20 YEAR OLD TRUCK its going to need maintenance
Vehicles always need maintenance. That wasn't the problem.
In the future, if you need any Ford parts, let me know. I work for a Ford dealership. 👍
Need 5in straight pipe now
22:34 in the video...lucky that the battery has some plastic on it 🙂 Your next problem would be a battery fire
What year truck is that
That's an aluminum fitting and can break easily if the hose isn't routed right and there's too much stress on the fitting
You absolutely got a bad egg I have a 2001 7.3 with 270k and haven’t had no issues the last 5 years. And it’s built. Built transmission and turbo and injectors.
Mama always said you can't fix stupid. And if you buy a square construction worker truck, that's what you get
how do the Toyo Open Country ATs ride? Also is the road noise noticeable?
Have 16 inch toyo oc at 10ply tires on mine and they ride rougher then your average street H/T but they aren’t like most, they are pretty smooth and roll good noise is low similar to H/T
I have the toyo OC HTs and I can say they are great on my 250 7.3. I'm getting 17 to 20mpg with them.
I’m gonna tell you one of the best things that I’ve ever ever did for my 2001 F350 coil spring suspension swapped with a 6.7 gearbox from a 2011 350 , the F250 front and rear axels from 2010 6.4 this thing rides like a brand new truck i’ve already got the seat swap now I just need to swap the dash the front and the rear body hood and bed and it’ll look like a 2014 F250 I’ve already got the wheels off of 2021 F250 same wheels you got I love those wheels except for a chip like hell cause the chrome ain’t worth of shit
Did your dad not teach you to not buy Ford? I see he drives Chevy…smart man!
Things I learned working in a tire shop without a truck lift:
Sit on a bucket and use your feet to lift the tires, steer them with your hands. Super easy! Saves your back..
Unfortunately new parts does not equal good parts.
You need new leaf springs they look pretty sketchy
Id of went ahead and changed the hydro booster to its all thats left
Second gen 7.3 was a joke lol. Even my 7.3 Na was a piece of crap. 98 dodge Cummins dually, never had a problem. Other than the dash exploding
Owning a old f350 will turn u in to a diesel mechanic real quick and also a joint expert but hold steady cause that truck is the last of the good ones
I'm sitting at 420k on my 2000 and don't mind a bit turning wrenches to keep it rolling
And buy napa or full force diesel parts
I was gonna like until i saw it was at 69, nice
Old stuff with a lot of miles just sucks.
Welcome to the club!!!😂🤘
Fix or repair daily
Not good to running the p.s. pump with out oil in it
Well They are very expensive to own. Always something
Fix Or Repair Daily 🤣
I gave up on mine, switched to the 6.7 and wow what a game changer
You'll have the same issues with your 6.7 if you keep it for 24 years. Maybe more issues because they keep adding more and more EPA crap and sensors.
@@raizt1596 I don’t have any government garbage on it
How much did it cost to delete it all?
@@raizt1596 1400 with the ccv delete and all
Couldn’t help but notice your dad’s Chevy seems to be running fine. Just saying…. Lol
Better clean up that trust before it metastasizes.
Go buy wix filters
Ford gm and Mopar source the cheaper parts to save money bud use wix filters
spacers..... ummmm no
Buy a Ford, it's the best! Drive a mile, walk the rest!
Maybe you need to buy a tow truck
Now you know why they say FORD is Found on Road Dead. Thank goodness for dad's Chevy
Fix or repair daily!
Flip over read directions
Built Ford Tough. lol
Thank you for posting this public service announcement on why to buy a Toyota. Beautiful truck though.
OEM parts aren't always the best. and advice from the internet isn't always the best.
First🥱🥱

Contact Ford about this Lemon truck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like you bought a POS. You obviously don't know what to look for when purchasing a vehicle period. Get rid of it for what you can get out of it. Do it ASAP
You'll be making another video if you don't. Good luck.
Ford truck owner since 1976. All 4 that I've owned never gave me 1/10th the problem your having.
Your leaf springs need attention before anything else
Come on man this stuff is basic maintenance stuff on an old truck . A little blown out of proportion
Yep 👍🏻
