It is idyllic to have your neighbors be old friends. It gives you a sense of close community and camaraderie. I had this as a child in the summer because my Dad and his brothers bought land on a lake and they built cabins then had their buddies from high school also build creating an amazing place to be. I’m older so my Dad and his brothers all served in WW2 (5 men altogether) I love the women power going on in your little corner of the world.
What a lovely and fun girls trip! It was really nice to see more of Portugal through your lens. I am so happy that the 3 of you have properties so close together! Take care! 😊🙏❤️
Kirsty, what a lovely tour of the area in Portugal. I was unable to visit that area when I was there two years ago. Definitely a place to come back to!
It's good to leave the homestead now and again, see the sights and come home to a refreshed feeling. Sometimes just driving to the farm supply store does it for me!
Hi Kirsty, Sinead and Sanchia! I'm so happy to see you out and about. The weather looks great when it's not raining, and even the rain is good for the land and a relief when it's been so hot. Wow! It's amazing how much damage radiation (and electricity) did to people experimenting before it was harnessed properly. Not good. One place I really enjoyed in Portugal that wasn't too busy, although in a reaaaaaly touristy area is on Sintra mountain: the palace and park of Moserrate. I went a few years ago and everyone was at the other two castles. The gardens are extensive and interesting and the palace is refreshing in its design. Not the heavy walls of the others, but an airy Ottoman and eastern feel. It's hard to feel free to get out and explore, but once you've done it, it must be practiced more often! Portugal is a very beautiful country, with so much to offer - that's why you chose it, I'm sure. Have a great week together!
So glad you're having fun, I always kick and scream when recreation comes in the way of jobs but I end up enjoying it thoroughly. Necessary to keep our sanity.
One word Kirsty. Look at moiiiiiiii, (Kath and Kim reference). Perspex. The see through window you have when you haven’t got a window. Greetings from Australia.
Kirsty I loved traveling with you and your two close friends, through Portugal on the van trip. First was visiting different locations for locating certain mushrooms to enable you all to make a description library of mushroom varieties and where to locate them. Then visiting the ancient Castle and being able to climb all over it, no side rails, so amazing. Then enjoying local wine and delicious traditional Portuguese food, was very special Next visiting a health resort from the past 19 hundreds, that actually killed lots of people with their new treatments, that actually caused cance in many people. All the walks, in the forest and villages were very Wonderful to experience and enjoy.
Thank you for not allowing the F word on your channel! It really detracts from the content and that word makes me feel ill. Your channel is so special, usually clean and that is something I really appreciate about it!
The mushroom walk is wonderful! I would really like to do that. And the scenery was stunning! And the castles fire the imagination! Those stone structures are amazing, especially that they're still standing! Those builders were so skilled. The mushroom that looked like a wavy fan could that be a Turkey Tail mushroom? Turkey Tail mushrooms are very popular for promoting healing in the Mushroom coffee drinks I am seeing advertised in the USA. Happy day!
Ya these walks are fun and informative. October/November in this area is a great time for mushroom hunting. Turkey tail are common and I know they appeared on the mushroom walk and possibly also on our hike but I don't know enough to ID things (yet!)
Beautiful country side ❤.. can’t wait to visit Portugal 🇵🇹. Thanks for the road trip 🎉 Thought the radioactive butts may have related to chillies 🌶️… 😅
Beautiful walk through the woods. The thought of free mushrooms, if you get into the foraging, is good. I feel lots of recipes coming on. Steer well clear of that radiation place though.😅
It's great to take a break for a road trip and a bit of food and fun. That radium hotel was must have been haunted. My God. You should check out the Radium Girls. It was a documentary about these young women who were hired to paint watch dials with radium infused paint. 🙂👍👍🇨🇦
So what were the beige balls? The flaming sausage looked very appetizing! I wonder if a geiger counter has been to the radium hotel recently? Excellent travel experience. Mushrooms are so fascinating! Hugs from 🇨🇦
Nice trip. I was curious about the last part of the title but when you mentioned the building it clicked. I have seen it before on another channel but not from inside and without the additional info on the treatments.
Lovely to see you all having some downtime and fun. Look forward to hearing your news on the window and keeping everything crossed it's all positive 😊 Ahh the Radium hotel I forgot all about that place, I saw it on another channel (can't remember which one tho 😂) and it does neatly explain the title 😂😂 Nothing to say on the mushrooms sorry I hate them 😂😂

It really is an amazing thing and I feel so fortunate!
I love that you show us some of the sights of Portugal. There's so much history there. It's absolutely fascinating.
It really is! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
What a lovely and fun girls trip! It was really nice to see more of Portugal through your lens. I am so happy that the 3 of you have properties so close together! Take care! 😊🙏❤️
Yes it was a great time and I'm so lucky to have them both close!

Thanks for taking us along. Love Portugal. Kirsty I think if you have time you have the skills to make your own window. Really.
No time and I don’t have a proper workshop setup so it would be tricky. But I’ll make one sometime in the future, for sure!
Extremely impressed with the huge mushrooms!! 🍄 🍄🟫 thank you so much for sharing!! How fun!! 🤗🇺🇸Stunning places😮🦋😘
There are some amazing mushrooms around these parts! 😀
It's good to leave the homestead now and again, see the sights and come home to a refreshed feeling. Sometimes just driving to the farm supply store does it for me!
It definitely is and often a trip to town is just what I need as well! Usually with a nice lunch somewhere thrown in. 😀
@@PortugalfromScratch or coffee and cake!

It was so great to go on an outing and Sintra is definitely on the list for sometime in the future!
I really want to see that window installed BUT not half as much as I'm sure that you do. Glad you're having some fun in the meantime.
Me too! 😀
So glad you're having fun, I always kick and scream when recreation comes in the way of jobs but I end up enjoying it thoroughly. Necessary to keep our sanity.
Ya I’m exactly the same!
stunning landscape and architecture - oh yes, not to forget the mushrooms - that you were exploring. Looked like a fun trip with good friends.

Ya it was such a creepy place but super impressive looking, too!
i seen that hotel ruin on the indie projects...ended up poisoning loads of people...
Ya it's a creepy place!
So what were the beige balls? The flaming sausage looked very appetizing! I wonder if a geiger counter has been to the radium hotel recently? Excellent travel experience. Mushrooms are so fascinating!

Ah! They were meatballs and the tubes were lamb croquettes. Very delicious!
Nice trip. I was curious about the last part of the title but when you mentioned the building it clicked. I have seen it before on another channel but not from inside and without the additional info on the treatments.
Haha I’m glad the title eventually explained itself! 😀

Haha ya, mushrooms aren't for everyone though foraging for them is fun even if you don't like to eat them. It's amazing what's out there!
Yay🎉 Portugal from Scratch! (And a first comment)
Yay!!
You use the oak galls to make ink and dye.
Ah man, there are so many cool things to do with what we find in nature! So much to learn!
❤❤❤
😀
Great video!
Thanks!
Yes great video.
Thanks!
With a chipper it will be much easier to keep you land free of tree cuttings and you get lots of those
Definitely!!
Brilliant thanks you
😀
You keep finding oak galls caused by a small wasp.
Ah that sounds familiar! They're very unusual little things!
Those were some large mushrooms. What is the name of that castle? Quite the structure. Great trip.
I'm not sure but the first place is in Sebugal and the second is in Sortelha.
😂😂😂😂😂
😁
EAT the Fairy ones !!
Haha no thanks!
