Perfect video, extremely detailed!!! I have a 1986 El Camino and my window shifts and its pretty annoying, also when I'm on the interstate i have a air gap which is not extremely loud but pretty noticeable. I will be referencing this video when I begin my repair. Again Thank YOU! Most videos are not as details so this is perfect
Thanks man that was the best video ever seen on adjusting the windows for an 87 Monte Carlo on 86 that you had I learned so much now I'm ready to go kick ass and put this window straight
good video. these are a pain in the ass. I actually have a book on these created for Buick Grand Nationals but it's always nice to see someone demonstrate all the adjustments
I have an 86 Monte, I need your help to tell me the name of the part you had in your hand. You called it a stabilizer-the piece you had to replace it was all black. Could you tell me where you got the replacement part or the exact name of that part so I may be able to find a replacement myself. My parts broken as well. Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks.
Me mE Door Glass Window Guide. That's the item name if you search for it. Most gbody supply sites have it. Mikesmontes dot com has it, got it from them, but there are other suppliers too.
I know it's been a year since you asked, but your GM dealer still has these in stock. It's what the vendors sell anyway. Called a guide. List price is $20.58 at this time, but with any discount you should be able to get a pair of them for about 30 bucks. GM part number 20151689. Hope this helps. Get two, one for each side.
Bruce Cooley sometimes that’s the felt window seals sticking to the glass. Unfortunately you can’t lube them or you glass gets streaks. If you push down on the glass while opening and it doesn’t shake it’s likely the seals (those 2 Long pieces on top of the door that keeps water out)
That’s just the original parts, maybe everything is smooth. They do make a device that speeds up these windows by 2-5x, you’d have to google that. It’s like a booster for the gbody power windows that plugs in to the fuse box, used to be around a few years ago. But these are all oem nothing replaced.
Hi, I have a question. Do you have a parts number to the black door retainer piece (14:26 minute mark on your video) that you showed that you will have to replace? If not where did you get yours from?
Jayhussl 14:26 is the entire video, not sure what part you mean. Is it the MONTE CARLO RATTLE ELIMINATION KIT? That’s a small black piece that they sell at various online stores.
My problem is that Passengers side Right window will not roll up with door closed. I did all the adjustments stated in this Video. Rolling down window just drops with no control over how fast. Need some help with this adjustments. Oh my car. 73 Riviera. The insides of door look the same as Monte Carlo, Camaro other GM regulators.
Todd Young different car, can’t say the info is the same. Could just be an old weak motor. They do make aftermarket add on modules which provide more power to the motors and really speeds them up. 2 wires, takes about 1 minute to install.
