- Gary’s been waiting for this one! Michael and Joe from @QuickBitz brought their off-road spec “evil” GQ Patrol that they claim makes a whopping 2,000 horsepower. It’s powered by a 5.2L inline 6, boosted by a HUGE 98mm turbo, reinforced by a lotta custom billet parts, and is known to wheel stand on the track. Meanwhile Daniel’s Datsun sedan was originally a burnout car, but he swapped in an absolute UNIT of an engine - a 4L Ford Barra so strong it needed a half grout-fill to reinforce it, plus a custom molded bonnet to fit it in. They both both got slicks. They both got beadlocks. They both got brake chutes. They both GOTTA RACE!

To be fair, that was basically a GTR with a patrol body on top of it. A geo storm is also instant fast if you stick the chassis from a tesla under it.

That’s the difference between the US and Australia. All modified vehicles in Australia have to be throughly inspected and meet high standards to be legal.

I think it’s more that the patrol has a lot less than 2k HP
@richardlankford2881 as the driver said he turned it down to match the surface. This thing at full power in rwd would just have no traction big wheelstands and or both

900hp is close to 1000 lol 100hp don't make much of a difference lol

The patrol was only running around 1200hp, and let's just say the way that Datsun hooked up I think his over 900 lol... Patrol a heavier car equals a damn good race and they didn't disappoint. This down under series is awesome :)

That Barra would be 900 on low boost
I'm a holden man myself and love my v8's, but I can't argue that the barra engine is one of the best engines in recent history, do very little to them and get big HP... And they will do it all day every day lol.
If you watch street machines drag challenge the patrol was was doing crazy wheel stands, it has been turned way down for this surface.
So stoked to see this Bigears! Congrats mate. So many years of hardwork and different builds over the last 2 decades.
They both drive like absolute masters. That much power and they did, blow off the tires or loose it and slide off. Good stuff

They could've used Sydney dragway but they're tryna replicate a no prep surface like on the U.S. this v that
If you look up street machines drag challenge from earlier this year you can watch the patrol snapping some violent wheel stands and some other cool builds.

He literally said it was capable of 2000 and he could turn it up as needed and may even use the nos you think he made that much of a difference on the last race by not changing anything that's how racing works

That Barra definitely makes 950
If that Patrol was really +1k HP on that Datsun, even being 300# heavier it should be walking away...
They ran low boost because they never raced on that surface before. Probably closer to 1000hp vs the 950 in the datsun. Not only that, the weight difference and aerodynamics comes into play.
Have a listen to how lazy it was, it was definitely not running much boost.
This was very entertaining love to see this both cars are beautiful I can’t just pick one love seeing builds like this on this channel
My first cool car was. 71 510 sedan. Wasn't as fast, but it had a rebello lz22 with dual carbs making about 190-200hp. But it was only about 1970lbs. Super fun little cars.

That datsun is insanely clean for an all out custom job, his trunk full of weights for traction seemed to work pretty well but its gotta be a handful to drive with that power to wheel base

The TB48 engine has the largest displacement of all inline six engines 4.8L !Not including diesel engines
i might be wrong but thats what i know. It is verry common In Australia and Middle East ! From Factory its like 280hp N/A but it can be modified to what you just witnessed, a masterpiece.
I would love to see more as these two battle it out.
