Australia’s clean machines are out to impress again, and BOTH are street legal! Frank’s Datsun 1200 Ute squeezes a genuine R35 V6 under the bonnet, which means the use his 76mm turbocharger it’s gotta go in the bed. Meanwhile Ben’s bringing out the “ultimate streetcar” R32 Skyline GT-R. The factory RB30 engine is augmented by custom-spec heads and camshaft, a big ol’ turbo, dry sump oil system and sequential trans.

@@Dr.SpatulaI think the hoonicorn grips and squats harder off the line, but once off the line the GTR was shifting that sequential at similar speeds Ken would shift the hoonicorn sequential. A roll race would be perfect, only a 1000 because they’d probably go off the track at 1500 😂😂
Hoonicorn is faster, if it was a roll race then it would be a very close race.
@benhasdell7586 I'm confident the hoonicorn has better gearing on the low end at least. I'm pretty sure Ken wouldn't be faster, though. Hard to race a car from a casket...

Reading the comments and people saying need to bring out the Hoonicorn to take on the GTR. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see that. But we've got no shortage of 6 second R32's, here in Australia. Even full street registered R32's running into the 6's, full interior, steel panels, and aircon. It's a jungle out here

This in my car, the car now has a billet block and currently make 1822hp.
We are going a bigger turbo an pro mod 88xpr, so should be interesting to see how much hp it makes and how much of a handful it Is

Wow wow wow that GTR! Must respect the setup of the car. Anyone can slap on 1600HP on a car with nitrous, but the way this car and driver handled it.
RB30, big turbo, dry sump, nitrous, proper suspension, wheels and tires, tranny and shifter combo, haltech, rear end, etc. I'm sure the list goes on and on.
A testament to how Aussie GTRs are the best in the world and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Coolest thing about that GTR is how both the outside and inside look almost completely stock (apart from the huge sequential shifter and subtle dash inside), but it is an absolute beast. Would be an amazing sleeper if it wasn't a GTR since everyone knows those are crazy fast cars.

The man stated that it's a street race car . The owner wouldn't want too much precise info to be known for gambling purposes . Nobody knows how much of the power he used here .
The builder is trying to advertise his expertise at building fast street cars while also trying to protect the owners info to use it as a gambling tool .
The race made essentially no sense from the jump with only one way for the GTR to lose which is mechanical failure. He wanted to show it going fast but not breaking without anybody knowing too much about what mode and the times or terminal speed at 1k ft .
They did not even try to negotiate something that would cause any doubt who would win unless the GTR broke something critical or stalled .
What's crazy is how stock it looks and doesn't twist itself up putting down all that power with no cage . I don't know I have ever seen something shift so quickly , it made the hoonicorn seem like it had long gears . The hoonicorn is something built to do stuff all day long and not a drag car and not a street car so no actual comparison.
But as an actual street car this car is one of the best I have ever seen In regards to performance but there is something odd about the choice of apponent ,but it might be all innocent and just who was around and availible and or willing .
@@RandyJM21 Yeah finding competitors and scheduling this stuff can't be easy, sometimes you just gotta match up whoever's willing to show up on that day. The Datsun was cool as hell though, even if it never had the slightest chance.
The 32 is my car, match up was a last minute thing. Car is running no nos in these runs.
They asked to race another cat which was there it's a quick evo lancer but they wouldn't allow it.

No prep US vs aust was at the start if the year, was pretty much no contest, US whitewash.
In saying that there was a distinct lack of communication in a good time frame to Aussie competitors and quite a lot of quick workshops got the shits and gave it a miss.

This is certainly a worthy competitor against the old hoonicorn, that would be the matchup to make if Leah would do it. That gtr is insanely fast, I mean just flat out ridiculous, almost like an actual Gran Turismo in game build we would do back in the day, just bonkers.
Definitely a cool idea but consider for a moment how much it would cost to ship the Hoonicorn and everything you need to keep it in top shape to Australia just to race some random people. Not cheap that's for sure
Epic always good fun to watch. I love the idea of turbos in the rear but considering there would be very little airflow in that spot wouldn't the turbo be working harder to suck air (same reason if you put a RAD there it needs ducts to actually function cause air doesn't move much)

I’ve been mates with frank since we were kids and I’ve had the opportunity to drive this car, when it had the 20B and it’s current form. Although the 20B had close to 800HP and the VR35 has 650HP, but the torque a V6 makes compared to a little rotor makes this feel like it’s got a 510 hemi in it😂😂😂
Looks like he needs a bit more boost to get it of the line. Should be able to get around 1000hp from those engines.

I used to own a Datsun 810 sedan with the 3l diesel. Such a rare car, I miss it so much and it would be an awesome car to restomod. After watching this vs that Australia im pretty sure Australia is the place to look for one.
