    I should've said this on your last general controller guide, but I really appreciate your controller guides, Brian. As someone who has started to experience the world of RSI-related injuries, your guides have helped me be able to continue to game comfortably. I'm not "quite" at the level to be confident enough to do end-game content with a controller, but I'm getting there. True, macros don't queue, but we mostly press a button a lot as that ability becomes available, so the difference in timing is mostly irrelevant, maybe a quarter or less of a second, if that.
    EDIT: I mean, for just incase anyone is put off by macros.
    They do have a downside where they may not activate if you are pressing a lot of buttons quickly, though this is rare it will likely break your rhythm if you are annoyed by it, otherwise you simply adapt and use that ability 2 or 3 seconds later.

    I was waiting to hear about how to best quickly switch between targeting players to heal and targeting enemies to dps. Did I miss it? I remember the but would like to avoid macros. I've seen there's an option to soft target, where you cast once and I think you go to your original target afterwards. Any tips would be great, on mouse/keyboard I put all my heals on mouseover targets so I could just hit them quickly and keep dpsing my previous target. Is there anything like this? I suppose that's the soft target option but it would be nice to be able to leave my up/down cursor on party members but keep dpsing the enemies. Sorry for rambling, any help is appreciated. I'm trying to move from PC to PS4 game play

      I know that this reply comes a bit late but he mentioned sheathing his weapon or unsheathing it and this one action enables him to switch between allies and enemies. Like by sheathing your weapon you will only be able to focus your spells on party members. Unsheathing it will have you focus on enemies alone. You will have to set this up via the options first though.

    • @Work2Game
      @Work2Game  4 роки тому

      Not sure if Brian has seen this comment yet but the most common macro on raise is to announce that the raise is incoming. It helps other healers know it went out and the player to be ready to accept. Simply putting in a macro to cast and to say a phrase in chat that says your target and that you are raising them is the idea.

    Hmmm I think I notice and it isn't just you but with a lot of guides is that they don't go over too much about when to use what abilities where if it isn't a DPS rotation guide and then show examples of it. I thought maybe you would do more of this at the end of the video (to be fair you kinda sprinkle this kind of stuff through out the video). For example, when is a good time to use Cure 3 over medica or medica 2? How do you heal big pulls? Should you use Asylum on pulls of 4 or 5+ mobs? Should you spam holy starting at 2 mobs or 3? I get that each situation can be different, but nice guidelines for people who are new to WHM.

    • @anthonytangeman945
      @anthonytangeman945 5 років тому +1

      I think there are multiple issues with trying to do that, and I guess the first is that I believe (I didn't create the video) that it was intended to be a controller guide first and a healing guide second.
      But the real problem I think is that there are different viewpoints on healing and what healers should or should not be doing. At a base level this could be someone saying "healers should be spending at least 75% of their gcd's on damage spells" and on the opposite end it could be "healers should keep people alive and not focus on damage."
      But things can get WAY more granular and you can get into discussions over things like how to use a single ability such as Assize. Many people believe it should be treated solely as a damage ability and should be used right away, full-stop, without any healing (or over-healing) taken into account. Most of these people would be savage+ raiders. Whereas others might believe it's better to wait for at least the first raid-wide aoe to go out so you cash-in on the healing as well.
      Granted, some topics such as briefly explaining when Holy is more efficient than Glare damage-wise would be easy to cover, because it's literally just a numbers thing. But in general, I think ability use-cases and overall healer-gameplay tips is kind of a broad topic to tackle in this video imo, one that requires a lot of nuance and a lot of discussion in and of itself.

    • @Work2Game
      @Work2Game  5 років тому +1

      It's excellent feedback for sure, from what we've found with these guides is it's very difficult for someone to want to sit through 45 minutes where half of the video doesn't really pertain to them. We are working on our job specific guides that go into that level of detail (you can see some of our older ones on the channel), I could always be wrong and perhaps people do want even longer guides, please let me know what you think. :)

    • @Theendgamelv3
      @Theendgamelv3 5 років тому

      @@anthonytangeman945 I'll concede that it's a controller guide first. I went in assuming it would be a WHM 101 first with some controller stuff. As I said I know each situation is different, but what I am talking about is more on a learning level than a savage level. This is why most of my examples tended to me more toward dungeons cause this is where people new to healing or newish to healing would start. When you talk when to use Assize, that is beyond the scope of what I am talking about cause if you're raiding savage, you have a solid idea what to do. Now Assize in dungeons, this is where Brian can put his personal input and opinion which would help. A good example is when he talks about using Dia on the move when the tank is pulling adds.

    • @anthonytangeman945
      @anthonytangeman945 5 років тому

      @@Theendgamelv3 the point of what I was saying was that I thought more specific direction as to how to perform on WHM would require its own dedicated video and thus would be outside of the this video's scope (seeing as it was meant to be a controller guide).
      My example about assize was just one topic that I thought of (because I talk to my healer friends about it) that could've been covered in a future guide dedicated towards healing and was supposed to show how in depth you could get about healing and why it might not be best to include that in the controller guide video for WHM.
      In short, the topic of assize wasn't the point, but that there are several topics that you could go over in a healer guide that you would need plenty of time to cover, so best to dedicate a video (or two) to it.

    • @Theendgamelv3
      @Theendgamelv3 5 років тому

      @@Work2Game Yea a 45 min guide would be a tad too long lol. I assumed this was your main WHM guide and you were also throwing in controller as well. I apologize in thinking this was your main guide when you have made a main guide in the past for WHM and you pretty much did what I was suggesting with personal input and tips. I would say when you do make a updated 101 guide, try to add what healers should do on top of what you were doing before.

    For savage raids - or any lvl 70-80 raid/dungeon - are you still using „Cure“? Or do you go straight to „Cure II/III“?

    • @anthonytangeman945
      @anthonytangeman945 5 років тому +1

      Well, Cure 3 is for aoe situations, so it has its own use case.
      But comparing Cure and Cure 2, I really only keep Cure on my hotbars for low level dungeons or on the very off-chance at max level where I have died, been rezzed, and both Lucid Dreaming AND Thin Air are on cooldown (so I don't have mana regen going on).
      Basically, I only use Cure for duties where I don't have Cure 2 available, or in the most dire of situations lol
      EDIT: OR if we are in downtime on a fight and I want to top someone off and they don't happen to have (or need) a regen running on them.

    One thing I don't like about what they did with WHM is that they took away the earthly elemental aspect of it. It plays wonderfully. But from a thematic standpoint I kind of wish they didn't do what they did.
    Like, Dia and Glare are both cool.
    Afflatus misery is great, WHM foul is basically what it is.
    But I really miss having Aero and Stone. I wish they kept the aoe Aero DoT spell and made some kind of offensive spell involving Stone magick.
    Fluid aura is even more useless since it doesn't knockback and stun. Now it just stuns. Fluid aura was AMAZING in PvP.
    But then they took that away with 5.1 patch.
    Overall WHM is a great healing class that I think is a but underrated since most people like SCH and AST. My gripes mostly are just purely from an aesthetic point.
    Great video guide.

      I will say this until the day FFXIV shuts down: I would rather have Aero 3 than Aflatus Misery because maintaining 2 dots is more engaging than having what is essentially WHM Foul on a 90 second cooldown.
      Aesthetically I think they should have kept some of the wind/earth elements but still gone into the Dia/Glare line of....I guess light-themed magic? I'm not sure what to classify them as, but in classic FF games getting Holy late game was a huge deal, so I think it makes sense that WHM should continue to lean into that theme of light magic. But yeah, I agree it'd be nice if they'd keep some of the nature elements as well (Bring back Aero 3!)

      @@anthonytangeman945 It would be cool if they added some kind of twister spell that would act as DoT that would follow whichever target you casted it on.
      Maybe an aoe DoT with earthquake?
      Maybe Fluid Aura could work similar to SMN where the DoT from glare can be extended to other enemies from the splashing of water.
      There's alot of things they could make.

      @@Zayindjejfj I really like the dot spreading idea. I think it would be a nice compromise if they didn't want healers to have multiple dots again.

    • @Zayindjejfj

      @@anthonytangeman945 Could definitely reduce the time on dia a bit and maybe the potency to compensate. It's only one DoT so it wouldn't be to complex to tweak like they have to with SMN or BRD.
      I know people hated those things getting screwed and the justification was "well you have two so we nerfed both into nothing."
