I dont know why. But POE is so magical to me. No matter how bored or how may times i quitted. i still come back to it in the end. one way or another.
Yeah, the constant changes every 3 months is pretty great. Didn't like one league? OK see you in 3 months.
@@KenoxProductions Every league i play i have fun. One league i was not interested in was expedition did not look fun and at that time they nerfed all the gems but suprisingly expedition is now my favorite content to do.
It was a great reveal. I'll definitely be coming back to PoE for this league.

The fact that they're trying to condense content is exactly what PoE has needed for the past 2 years or so. I'll definitely be giving this league a go after basically skipping the last 3

I'm glad people love this game. For me I tried it a few times because endgame looks amazing. You need a PhD and plan a build ahead of time, I'm not a fan of that. I'd rather make choices as you go and learn. But this game punishes you for making the wrong choices. But it is what it is. This update looks amazing though.
My hope is POE2 has a lower barrier to entry. Not to make it super easy. Just more streamlined
I doubt poe2 will simplify the barrier to entry much and honestly I'd say planning a build is the easiest part of poe there are plenty of quality guides online to follow quite a few catering specifically to new players. the mechanics bloat is the hardest part and what you really need a new PhD for every league . Every mechanic tends to be very in depth with specific ways to make it work efficiently and they add a new one every league, some leagues are pretty simple but those tend to be the leagues with big reworks to the endgame so end up being even harder to learn.
Same I love POE but at a certain point it became too much to wrap my head around.
So here's my take. You can do honestly pretty much whatever you want ( within reason ) and get through probably 90 - 95% of the games content. The other 10% of content is something that *can be made easier* with certain builds. However, most of it is learning fight mechanics for the various end game bosses, and once you've learned that you can do most of that content with most builds. You don't really need to follow a build guide, but it certainly helps. You can also follow a build guide and still struggle because of bad luck with gear drops as you're playing. If you have solid gear as you level most builds will feel good. So there's an RNG element to it as well, obviously.
But for them to make it simpler for new players would ultimately water down the experience of the end game, and I'm fairly sure the Devs have said they're happy with making a game for more of a niche audience and doing what they want within their vision for what the game should be etc.
POE2 is planned to have a lower barrier to entry. Sockets and links on gear wont be randomized, instead you will basically be able to 6L everything. If I remembre correctly from when they announced they were working on it.
Sorry to tell you but PoE 2 is not a different game, It's still going to be PoE with PoE 2 integrated into it. There are going to be major changes to the game but a lot of the leagues are slowly working some of those things in right now. So when you start the game game when PoE2 launches you will have 2 options on what story you would like to play 1 or 2's story and select new characters for the new one and old characters for the old one. The skill tree will change but I doubt it will be massively different in scale.
Haven't played this game in years but I still love how transparent ggg is and how well they add qol improvements to the game. Their decisions always seem to make the game better. They are a shining example of how a game developer should execute content and communicate with their community.

Imo the transparency has made for a healthier playerbase. Defenitely a good step that other devs could learn from
A 20% chance for double damage is basically a 20% increased damage or a 1.2x damage multiplier. Depending on what spells you pair it with though. You could pair it with a high ATK speed High damage spell that just breaks the game I guess but I assume that would be hard or patched or other item builds would just be way better anyways. Not to mention it costs HP to use.
Kalandra. I played the game for a couple of leagues casually and on the first week of my third league (harvest) i was killing normal mobs and suddenly a Mirror of Kalandra dropped. I sold it for 900+ exalts and in that season i tried every build i could. (I remember a player was selling me some end game armor and he told me in his 5 years of playing hardcore, he never saw one.)
I then did every boss, maps, etc and felt that i have "finished" the game and stopped playing. I think ill return for this one, just for the nostalgia of the name of this league.
I got my first mirror a few leagues ago, first one I'd seen in over 10000 hours of playing the game.

Even though I don't follow/play PoE, I really REALLY like this guy, Chris Wilson. I watched a great interview he had with Josh Strife Hayes, this man is a gamer at heart, and one of the most direct and 'down to earth' developers I've seen.
All Poe devs are the gamers in the past, who just like diablo 2 and the point of POE at the start is to make true diablo 3 game. And there it is, i dont think anyone can doubt that POE is the true d3 now.
You can tell he is incredibly smart in system design too and understands how people will react to certain designs.
He makes some very odd decisions at times, but I respect that he's trying to make the game that he personally wants to play.
Holy shit this is the first time they named a league more than just 1 word. This feels like a finale before the next season start.
I played PoE for years without stash tabs. A new player doesn't know what to do with half the crap we hoard and never touch anyways. Have a tab for currency, maps, and fragments/oils. The amount of stuff I pick up now and throw in my stash to never be used the entire league really is astonishing. Honestly having smaller space kept me in line better
I like POE a lot, I have a lot of hours on it but I always skip leagues juts because I can’t do builds myself. I got to follow other peoples builds to the letter or I am worthless. No Time or patience to learn how to make a build

Being able to put things on hold into an item was one of the greatest decisions they ever made. Being able to save up Alva temples instead of being forced to run the temple or halt doing them completely is great. With this I can complete the story quests in the area and do the mirror when I want to.
Note that being able to itemize your mirror only unlocks at maps, during the campaign you'll still be forced to do them then and there.

After first 1K hours you'll get used to at least half of the stuff. no worries.
Try following a build guide and explore, the game is big but if you stick to a guide it's easier to explore the game.

@@bryansmith7238 Yeah PoE is catered toward people who are willing to spend hundreds of hours getting to end-game content, and then replaying the game with each league. For a normal scrub who's working full time, I'm out of luck.
One kudos for GGG is the fearlessness of attacking old content. Instead of leaving it a zombie (every crafting system in WoW) they go back and re-balance it and make it useful. And the same with gems, skills etc. They just have 0 fear of changing things. And if you put the game down for a while, there is SO much new content to absorb, it's like a completely new expansion in a AAA MMORPG.
Ngl, I've played since 2012 and not a single change made me mald out as much as divine orb one. Maybe very old nerf to block
i was so hyped when cris started talking about Ex / Divine orbs but the change is actually so punishing for casual players . we dont play efficiently thats why we dont use Ex but we can vendor 6 links for Divine to get more currency or roll a unique since we cant afford to buy a well rolled one now thats even gone . everything else is a POG thou
Itemizing the league mecanic is nuts. It basically means that even if you dont like it too much or your build isnt great for it you still make bank off it with trade

Hope to see you playing some POE this league. to anyone that hasnt played, its a free to play game, the only thing that you would need to buy are stash tabs to make life a lot easier (u get 4 base tabs to start with i think). $20 would get u a handful of tabs (they have stash tab sales every 3 weeks) and you wouldnt have to put anymore than that unless ur a hoarder and cant manage things. You can completely have fun on 0$ and $ will not give you any power for you characther. so its kinda like pay for convenience (can be seen as p2w too)

@@darkwanderer7838 nonsense. i play it casually no problem. depends on personal goals. for beginners the only goal is to learn and progress and hopefully beat the acts. anything beyond that requires more investment, but that doesn't mean you can't be casual about it.
How is it these guys can make interesting large amounts of content every 3-4 months for free, but Blizzard takes a year to get even the most minimal time gated content out.
F2P with microtransactions can give a lot money, also daddy Tencent. The two reasons why Riot could afford to compete with top tier series production budget in Arcane (I would say 100M minimum for the first season).

They actully care about their game thats where the differance is. There is still Passion in this studio while Blizzarda soulles corporate husk completely free of any passion and all that matters is how much money they can milk their players of.

I might start playing PoE again, but God damn is it overwhelming. I have like 100 hours into it from a few years ago, but I forget how it works completely, as I've spent 1,000 hours playing grim dawn since then lol.
like most of systems that seem overwhelming, take it one step at a time, you don't need to think about endgame systems when you haven't even reached it yet
I mean in reality 100 hours in an arpg is nothing. PoE or not if it has a deep enough system.

If you like the first few acts then dive deeper into content creators if you want to learn more

@@phillippadlets5898 Chris said that he still wanted the feeling of excitement of picking up items (mostly applied to uid uniques). That's why there is still no autoloot. Ofcourse it's weird with that philosophy that they still make busted league mechanics and such wich spit loot at an unhealthy basis haha.

As someone who has sporadically played poe across different leagues, i've always found the gameplay fun but the gearing process a bit daunting and not very intuitive so i dont tend to really stick around after maps etc
exactly, same shit over and over, it gets boring fast
i usally play for the first week of the leagues cuz game is very active and it's fun to race with people in terms of gear and stuff. then it gets repetitive and i get bored easily.

imagine reflecting an item then using crafting to scrub some of the negative traits. the sort of bases you'll be able to make will be amazing. Going to be such a fun league

So many "real" changes this league. They took this league to fix the core-game and answer a lot of the questions people have. The melee stuff and skill issues truly seem to only be a problem because they are creating skills for the POE2 playstyle (when every gem can be a 6L). It's all just one huge set-up.
Tencent, who has close ties to the ccp, is a majority holder in GGG. Does this mean that if I buy a supporter pack or spend money in the shop that I inadvertently support the ccp?
If you play PoE and understand the game and read the patch notes minions got huge buffs overall.

Archnemesis was fine it was there addition into Sentinel lock and stock and removing the items drops associated with them that people didnt like
If only I didn't have to go through the story for the hundredth time. Literally the only thing that can bring me and my friends back to PoE at this point is to start us at maps with basic gear.

This league is gonna be one of the best yet I was hyped for real during this reveal. Been playing for years, I always support GGG man these guys are amazing developers always have fresh content with leagues after leagues. I can see these guys becoming the kings of action rpg when poe 2 release as well.

I want to love this game so much more than I do, but the combat just doesn't do it for me. Spamming a single skill isn't fun for me. Is there any viable way to build 2 or 3 abilities?

I try to get into PoE, but my net isn't the most 100% reliable thing so playing HC is just not interesting to me. But in SC I hate that the bosses don't reset if you die so you can just keep bashing your head against them till they die. I saw some people saying it's so you can't just farm a boss over and over or something, which is fair if true, I just prefer D3s way of doing it.
It seems like the company at least respects the player's time, and for that I appreciate them even if I don't play their game. Their innovation designing leagues is admirable, and I wish other companies would put that much effort into being as creative.
