You spent 20ex on a iLvL 20 weapon for leveling alts? That’s a bit overkill when all you need to level any build is a ~8c Tabula Rasa, which will even carry you early mapping.

@@IntegraGSR5 Yo you still need a tip? Tier:8 is around when Tabula falls off and you need a good basic armour with at least 50+ life and resistances. Also remember to ALWAYS cap your resistances

I've been playing PoE since closed beta in 2013 and already knew all this info but I like your videos and your demeanor so much I decided to just randomly watch this to see how good it would be to recommend to new players who ask for helpful videos. This is probably the best video I've ever seen for a new player to really learn about and more importantly understand basic to advanced crafting or really ANY advanced aspect of PoE. You should feel very proud of the work you put in to this. I'm sure you've helped countless new players enjoy PoE much much more.

Bro the chance orb 😂. Also thank you for this guide it has helped a hell of a lot. I really didn’t understand even the basics so covering stuff from the complete ground up is so so helpful and is the perfect style for teaching. So many tutorials skip stuff like how to use the basic currency, why even cheap currency is useful and how prefix/suffix work. Most things I read or watched did have helpful information but made lots of assumptions about preformed knowledge and skipped past all the real basics, then would just say use that path of crafting site. Site confused confused me to fuck lol, but now your video has helped me get a good foundation of knowledge and I can use it semi properly.

Crafting is much more accessible in Scourge now that currency drops are so gameable and they drop in stacks. A good rare Scourge map with added missions and fragments is basically an orb pinata.
SO GLAD I FOUND THIS! Crafting was such a confusing thing, and you made it a lot easier. From the most simple craft to the more complicated craft. Also allows me to know what materials I should be buying if I want to craft a specific type of weapon.
I had already started with crafting but man, this video helps a lot to get into crafting, that meta example and all those different mechanics explained in one place are awesome. Will definetly recomend the video since it has helped me a lot.
Little update for current state of the game, to avoid surprises: catalyst quality does not influence crafting outcomes anymore, and quality is not removed from them either. (See "item balance" section of the 3.15 update patch notes: "Catalysts no longer affect the chances of rolling related modifiers on jewellery through crafting, and Quality on jewellery is no longer removed when crafting with specific Currency.").

To be fair crafting is just a currency sink hole. You think you have a lot of currency and money until u start crafting ONE item. And boom, u are poor.
@@jackzera7356 yeah. You need to absolutely know what you are doing. And then you need luck. I got scammed with a 5l shavrones wrappings but linked in under 100 fusings XD. Still lots of money down the drain. In bestiary league i linked a starforge with 600 fusings. 7 ex profit. But i kept it and since it was my third season i just got like 10 ex in total... But i also spent 6k fusings on this damn astral plate i wanted ;( But to switch or corrupt some jewels is always fine. Most harvest-crafts are useless. But jewels...
Watchstones are a GREAT way to craft a ton using low-risk currency. Your best bet are usually Platinum Watchstone but Chromium and Titanium have their perks. Alts + Augs are very inexpensive, and good rolls can be a couple hundred chaos, like Tier 1 Chayula on Platinum Lira Arthain or Platinum Lex Proxima. A few great rolls like Harbinger currency tier and 4 ritual altars are 7+ ex (about 850 chaos) in the right area

I watched the whole thing. Amazing!!! I've never made it past a few exalts and had no idea how maven or conquerer exalts do or how combining mods works. I have a ring and a boot that I'm really looking forward to improving now! I realized that my "zomg amazing" ring that I use has literally only 1 mod that makes it good and I can split it and try to craft up a new ring with that mod instead!!!!
Well, thanks for burning all the mo just to teach us, it clarified some loosed ends for me, don't think I'll ever reach the meta/veiled lvl of crating but at least, now I know how it all fits :)

I have watched other videos, and given up after like 30 seconds, mostly because they are talking like it was a speed test and moving around on the screen faster than the speed of light, I have actually watched videos at 50% replay speed... how silly is that.!. But you... speak in a very pleasant voice and tempo and taking your time to explain and show stuff onscreen in a tempo that makes it very accesible....Cheers mate...
ok so basically I got lost at bestiary, so I had to go here Path of Exile: Bestiary Basics - Crafting & Capturing Guide to understand what the purpose of it was, but now, I'm completely lost at influence, metacrafting, harvest, and veiled mods. so i will keep everything in notes and in mind up until the beastiary, all other stuff passed that my hats off to you buddy, great job, this helped me a lot. I had to pause a bunch to see what you were clicking on, the name of item you were clicking on. the next item you clicked on like the order of items to click next in order. but eventually I got the notes I needed. thank you.

No, it's...how many balls are in the basket for that mod. Does that make sense? Put one ball in a basket for that mod per weight so the higher the number the more likely it gets picked.
A more detailed way to think of it similar to how it was originally explained is think of a 10 sided dice. (weight total 10 or the 83000 number or whatever it was in the video during item bases) now think +1 fire damage has a weight of 6 +2 fire damage has a weight of 3 +3 fire damage has a weight of 1 the weight between all of them is 10, so we will be rolling a 10 sided dice, picking a random number 1 through 10, or anything like that. since +1 fire damage has "6' weight. 1 through 6 on our dice will be +1 fire damage since +2 fire damage has "3" weight +2 will be 7 through 9 and lastly if you're lucky, if you roll the arbitrary 10, on the 10 sided dice, you got lucky and got the +3 fire damage so a 1 in 1800 chance of getting something would more look like this: +1 fire damage has a weight of 1000 +2 fire damage has a weight of 799 +3 fire damage has a weight of 1 altogether they come up for a total of 1800 weight. But that one mod in specific that you want, is only a weight of 1. Incase you weren't quite understanding the balls in a basket, I hope this detailed description on how it works, is a little more understandable.
This was such a great guide. I've watched a few other guides and they all felt unorganized and poorly explained. I watched all the way through until the influence part and beyond and not because i didnt think it was worth it, just that you already answered a huge bulk of my questions with the basics lol i have no doubt this took you a lot of time and effort to make and, for me, it was 100% worth it. This is such a fantastic video. This is my first league. ARPGs always have such a complex crafting system when you're trying to min/max, then there's PoE that has significantly more complexity than others. Now I have a resource to refer to. Thanks!

I don't know how outdated this is but I'm a total newbie (3 weeks in to the game) and crafting is absolutely overwhelming in this game especially because of all the tutorials the game offers. I'm not boasting or bragging here, but I'm no slouch in the intelligence category ( I work in Ion Beam Technology) but most other videos are convoluted and full of ego/fluff. I had this video going from start to finish on the second monitor while playing. I wasn't paying attention or putting any effort into it, and I didn't really learn anything because of it, but somehow the game feels less opaque now. I got enough from this video to know where to go once I get this damned char to endgame (26h played and I'm at act 9.... I'm hopeless. Been playing (extremely casually) for years, and always the same damn thing. Get sidetracked, get distracted, get caught up on tinkering with gearing & optimizations while leveling, wasting all my leveling-accrued currency doing low-level crafts on leveling gear....), and I know I'll be able to find direction when I need it. Thank you.

Welcome back! I just returned a week ago myself. Likewise, I learned a couple things I didn't know already. The game certainly feels better today than it did in it's first couple years.
I am new to poe and it is so cool they give us the tools to actually craft what you want. It is not like in other games where you go into a 10 hour grind session every day and hope they drop the affixes you want on that specific unique. You actually can go to crafting bench and target what you want to a an extend.
Thanks so much for this video! Because of this, I've started doing little things for crafting. I found a wand and used an essence on it then used an item to add sockets and another item to link the sockets. :) I even got my brother to use the crafting table for the first time. He sought out the recipes for 6 sockets and linking 6 sockets and did that with a piece of gear he really wanted. He said it's so much more reliable to use the crafting table than to RNG it.

To be fair crafting is just a currency sink hole. You think you have a lot of currency and money until u start crafting ONE item. And boom, u are poor.
@@jackzera7356 yeah. You need to absolutely know what you are doing. And then you need luck. I got scammed with a 5l shavrones wrappings but linked in under 100 fusings XD. Still lots of money down the drain.
In bestiary league i linked a starforge with 600 fusings. 7 ex profit. But i kept it and since it was my third season i just got like 10 ex in total...
But i also spent 6k fusings on this damn astral plate i wanted ;(
But to switch or corrupt some jewels is always fine. Most harvest-crafts are useless. But jewels...
Watchstones are a GREAT way to craft a ton using low-risk currency. Your best bet are usually Platinum Watchstone but Chromium and Titanium have their perks. Alts + Augs are very inexpensive, and good rolls can be a couple hundred chaos, like Tier 1 Chayula on Platinum Lira Arthain or Platinum Lex Proxima. A few great rolls like Harbinger currency tier and 4 ritual altars are 7+ ex (about 850 chaos) in the right area
Best of all the bonuses are unending improvements to your maps unless you reroll or swap the watchstone (hence why the get expensive)

This was missing in a lot of other videos I watched before I watched yours - many would just explain what the tool is, but never took the step the explain WHY you may use something.
As a newer player, the context and examples you provided were perfect! I'm still learning, making my way through yellow maps for the first time, and building knowledge on what is "valuable", but I'm book marking your guide for the future when Im ready to dive in and start crafting the big stuff!

I watched the whole thing. Amazing!!! I've never made it past a few exalts and had no idea how maven or conquerer exalts do or how combining mods works. I have a ring and a boot that I'm really looking forward to improving now! I realized that my "zomg amazing" ring that I use has literally only 1 mod that makes it good and I can split it and try to craft up a new ring with that mod instead!!!!

Thank You... for me, that was the best intro to basic and advanced crafting that I have been able to find. I have watched other videos, and given up after like 30 seconds, mostly because they are talking like it was a speed test and moving around on the screen faster than the speed of light, I have actually watched videos at 50% replay speed... how silly is that.!. But you... speak in a very pleasant voice and tempo and taking your time to explain and show stuff onscreen in a tempo that makes it very accesible....Cheers mate...

ok so basically I got lost at bestiary, so I had to go here Path of Exile: Bestiary Basics - Crafting & Capturing Guide to understand what the purpose of it was, but now, I'm completely lost at influence, metacrafting, harvest, and veiled mods. so i will keep everything in notes and in mind up until the beastiary, all other stuff passed that my hats off to you buddy, great job, this helped me a lot. I had to pause a bunch to see what you were clicking on, the name of item you were clicking on. the next item you clicked on like the order of items to click next in order. but eventually I got the notes I needed. thank you.

If you are familiar with the Horadric Cube from Diablo 2 you'll see a lot of the same type of stuff with the orbs, vendor recipes and prophecies.

Just a quick question , Does the weighting number for a specific modifier mean its for Eg : 1 in 1800 Chance of getting it? *weighting*
No, it's...how many balls are in the basket for that mod. Does that make sense? Put one ball in a basket for that mod per weight so the higher the number the more likely it gets picked.
A more detailed way to think of it similar to how it was originally explained is think of a 10 sided dice. (weight total 10 or the 83000 number or whatever it was in the video during item bases)
now think
+1 fire damage has a weight of 6
+2 fire damage has a weight of 3
+3 fire damage has a weight of 1
the weight between all of them is 10, so we will be rolling a 10 sided dice, picking a random number 1 through 10, or anything like that.
since +1 fire damage has "6' weight. 1 through 6 on our dice will be +1 fire damage
since +2 fire damage has "3" weight +2 will be 7 through 9
and lastly if you're lucky, if you roll the arbitrary 10, on the 10 sided dice, you got lucky and got the +3 fire damage
so a 1 in 1800 chance of getting something would more look like this:
+1 fire damage has a weight of 1000
+2 fire damage has a weight of 799
+3 fire damage has a weight of 1
altogether they come up for a total of 1800 weight. But that one mod in specific that you want, is only a weight of 1. Incase you weren't quite understanding the balls in a basket, I hope this detailed description on how it works, is a little more understandable.
This was such a great guide. I've watched a few other guides and they all felt unorganized and poorly explained. I watched all the way through until the influence part and beyond and not because i didnt think it was worth it, just that you already answered a huge bulk of my questions with the basics lol i have no doubt this took you a lot of time and effort to make and, for me, it was 100% worth it. This is such a fantastic video. This is my first league. ARPGs always have such a complex crafting system when you're trying to min/max, then there's PoE that has significantly more complexity than others. Now I have a resource to refer to. Thanks!

I don't know how outdated this is but I'm a total newbie (3 weeks in to the game) and crafting is absolutely overwhelming in this game especially because of all the tutorials the game offers. This video is a godsend. Thanks so much for your hard work. The explanation is so good that a less than 1 month experienced player can understand it.
Just remember that GGG reduced the value of exalted orbs, they are no longer worth 150-200 chaos each.
Amazing how you managed to craft a unique with the rare orb, what a fun coincidence. As a new player I can say without a doubt this guide has been INVALUABLE and the presentation was great. Kudos to you sir and thank you for helping me enjoy the game!

I had this video going from start to finish on the second monitor while playing. I wasn't paying attention or putting any effort into it, and I didn't really learn anything because of it, but somehow the game feels less opaque now. I got enough from this video to know where to go once I get this damned char to endgame (26h played and I'm at act 9.... I'm hopeless. Been playing (extremely casually) for years, and always the same damn thing. Get sidetracked, get distracted, get caught up on tinkering with gearing & optimizations while leveling, wasting all my leveling-accrued currency doing low-level crafts on leveling gear....), and I know I'll be able to find direction when I need it. Thank you.

I am new to poe and it is so cool they give us the tools to actually craft what you want. It is not like in other games where you go into a 10 hour grind session every day and hope they drop the affixes you want on that specific unique. You actually can go to crafting bench and target what you want to a an extend.
Thanks so much for this video! Because of this, I've started doing little things for crafting. I found a wand and used an essence on it then used an item to add sockets and another item to link the sockets. :) I even got my brother to use the crafting table for the first time. He sought out the recipes for 6 sockets and linking 6 sockets and did that with a piece of gear he really wanted. He said it's so much more reliable to use the crafting table than to RNG it.
