Morrowind is very unforgiving to newcomers! So here's some tips: - Morrowind does not have a fast travel system. Instead, you have a huge variety of transportation options. You could take a slit strider, teleport to different cities using the mages guild, take a boat, or learn the spells Mark and Recall, ALMSIVI intervention, and Divine intervention. - Morrowind is not a forgiving game, take it slow and level up a bit before doing the main quest. To level up you need to improve your major skills. If a fight is too challenging, you'll simply have to run away. - Join the Fighters guild and Imperial Legion before doing the main quest. Those guilds have easy quests that will help you level up your skills. Guilds work differently in this game. You can advance through a guild if you have a high stat in that guild's preferred stats. Like combat skills for fighters guild and mage skills for the Mages guild. So that means you'll probably not be able to do Mages guild with this character, but you can do the Imperial Legion or Fighters guild. - If you want to make money quick, go to the city of Caldera and go to Ghorak Manor, there is a merchant upstairs who will buy items from you at full price. Sorry for the long post but there is just so many things the game doesnt tell you and I wouldn't want you to give up in frustration.
Dont forget the most underrated aspect of Morrowind. Stamina. If you run around everywhere and keep your stamina bar empty, nothing will be successful.

I am truly happy to discover this game for the first time with you Emmett! I do hope Max will join in at some point... But man this is gonna be good!
Arrille sells Hearth Heal, which is exactly the minor healing spell you were missing. That reaction to Caius! The "burn victim" appearance, the replicated faces and the "full diaper" walking animations are some reasons a lot of people play Morrowind on PC, the faces, bodies and walking animations have undergone many community improvements. It's a Bethesda game after all. They release the game, and the community does the quality assurance. Despite that, this still is one of my all-time favorite games.
Your Fatigue affects pretty much everything in game, especially the "RNG" of combat (whether you deal damage or not) so you want to keep your fatigue high. easy way to do this is to buy "Amulet of Stamina" from Galbedir at highest floor of Mages Guild in Balmora and cast it a few times before a fight when your fatigue is low.
I've played this game probably way more than I should've, but Morrowind is very much so a game that rewards 'play smarter, not harder'. Don't try and brute force things, or else you will grow to hate it. So here's some tips to help make things less painful. 1. Keep your fatigue high at all times. No matter what you're doing, whether it's melee, ranged, or magic, because if you have low fatigue you will have a bad time at this, trust me. 2. Max out Endurance ASAP. The sooner it hits 100, the better, as it's how you gain health as you level up. More endurance, more health, and you can never have too much of it. 3. You will eventually be attacked by the Dark Brotherhood when you try and sleep, that is how you start the Tribunal questline (which is very difficult and meant for a higher level player), but if you don't at least get to Mournhold, then you will never ever stop getting attacked by the Dark Brotherhood, so just do that ASAP once it happens and get it over with. 4. SAVE OFTEN, and have multiple saves if you can. Seriously, you do not want to play for a half hour or even 10 minutes playing this game as a newbie and then lose a ton of progress because of that. 5. Don't pick things up unless you're in the wild or it's for a quest. Things are not labeled as 'owned' or 'stolen' to you, but the game does know, and if you get caught with it, you'll lose EVERYTHING that's marked as stolen. 6. Try to not keep too much stuff on you. It's annoying, but if you are not going out on questing, drop your gear for a bit and only carry what you need around. On the flip, if you are questing, only take what you must bring with you to survive. This isn't Oblivion or Skyrim where you can carry around a mansion's worth of junk with you at all times, or have a companion to do the same. 7. Magic is it's own menu and own 'state', as in, you have a ready stance for your weapon, but a SEPARATE ready stance for magic. You need to open your menus and equip a spell or magic item then go into the ready stance for magic to use it. 8. Spamming attack = bad. You will do nothing but waste your time and your fatigue, as chance to hit is based on how long you hold the attack button along with the level of fatigue you have and your skill level with the weapon. So spamming it is just going to result in frustration to say the least. As I said above: Play smarter, not harder. 9. Unless it's for a questline, joining a faction requires you to have high levels in some skills or attributes. So for example if you join the Guild of Mages, you cannot become Arch-Mage unless you ACTUALLY level up your magical skills significantly, and do many of the quests for them as well. You can't just join a faction and get maxed out without ever casting a spell. 10. Join the Fighters Guild and Mages Guild. Despite what i said above, there are a chest of free goodies in each guild and their places in each major city: Balmora, Ald-ruhn, Caldera (Mages Guild only), Sadrith Mora, and Vivec. You must join to be able to take them, but otherwise you may then sell or keep whatever you want. You can get to each city by going to a teleporter (which is represented by a person, it's not a physical device) in each Guild of Mages. It costs a bit of gold per teleport, but it is worth it. You also are not required to be a member of the guild to use that service. 11. Optionally: Join one of the three Great Houses: Hlaalu (merchants/thieves), Redoran (warriors), or Telvanni (mages). You can only pick one. You can join all the other joinable factions without issue. Becoming the leader of a Great House nets you some nice items, a stronghold to call your own, and makes one part of the last part of the Main Quest a bit easier. 12. in regards to the Blades Trainers, you will want to go to Rithleen, Tyermaillin, and Nine-Toes, who all live in Balmora. Talk to each of them about being a 'Blades Trainer' and they will give you a couple free items. The others can be safely ignored as they offer little of use unless you just want to meet all of them.
But if you enjoy it, does it matter? I suck in most of the games that I love, and I still enjoy them. I can't even finish the Balmora quests in Morrowind, but the cozy feeling of this game makes me come back for more pointless walking and admiring.
I've been meaning to give it another go to actually finish it this time. Sadly last time I started it up again I had some frustrating problems with getting mods to work. If I am to play I really need the model overhauls... The graphics are just a little too old for my taste.
Skin Puppet has nothing to do with being trendy. Skyrim is incredibly fun to play but so boring to watch. With Morrowind, it is both fun to play and watch. Especially since there are so many things to customize with your character.
It’s not necessarily that Skyrim is boring to watch but their playthrough is just another playthrough. Why watch them do the main story like everyone else with the generic nord Sigurd? They’re not putting on the typical LaFave flair of not caring and faffing around and instead playing a serious character. Not only have we seen that before, it’s also, sadly, boring. Mac being such an atrocious freak only added to the hilarity of his character. I was kinda baffled when they opted for a «serious playthrough» for Skyrim, I mean, why would we want to see that? Everyone has done it or recorded it.
Word of advice Emmett, you gotta hold your attack button for a few seconds to do the max damage, if your stamina gauge is low your chance to miss goes up rapidly. Combat hasn't aged well.
Great to see Morrowind getting some attention! I found the cuts a little jarring though- for example, talking about finding the way to Caius' house, and then instantly appearing at his front door.
Wow ... just jumping into Morrowind is like jumping into the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey and saying ,”I’m swimming to England!” This is exciting. Edit after watching a few minutes: Alley sweetrolls are the best.
Just so you know at 2:27 if you were about to say you’re playing on the original Xbox, Morrowind can be played on the 360 or an Xbox one and it’s a more pleasant experience, I’m not sure what you used for Oblivion/Skyrim. You can also play oblivion on the Xbox one.
This is the game that started it all for me with the elder scrolls series. This game was so badass when I played it back in 2003. I loved the variety on how you could build your character, like all the different weapon types and magic spells along with mixing and matching different armor. They need to bring these features with the next elder scrolls games.
Finding things out for yourself, what works and what doesn't also finding your own way to places in this game is REWARDING asf. Plus the lore in this game is one the best i've ever seen in a game.
A few things to help you out early on: Magic in morrowind is equipped similar to a weapon, and like a weapon you have a "ready" stance for it, enchanted items in the game also cast spells as opposed to just passive effects, so for example with that engraved ring of healing: you'd equip it, then equip the spell, then go into your spell ready stance and then finally cast the spell. Much like weapons in oblivion and skyrim, enchanted items have charges, and when their charge runs out, you can't cast their spell anymore until it is recharged. Number two is the travel system, you can't fast travel via the map in morrowind, you have to use it's various transit systems, silt striders by land, boats by sea, and the mages guilds can teleport you to other mages guilds, I'd suggest you start memorizing what goes where (or just look it up) as this is your only means of fast travel, and many quests will have you traveling far and wide across the breadth of morrowind. oh and also waiting or sleeping will restore your health/magicka/stamina
Emmet: answers the man's questions then picks up a ready class and didn't steal the ceramic plate to sell it From this i know the walktrough is gonna be fked lol 😂
Back when the map that came with the game acutally had a point besides just being a poster. I'd scan the map with the directions written in the journal entries to figure out where I needed to go. It adds a whole new layer to immersion.

I love seeing you play this for the first time. No hands held, you just jump in it and fumble. It's quite the adventure, overcome the challenges.
"Heal Minor Wounds"? You Mean... _Rest Until Healed???_
It's showing NPC health bars in combat, which means he has Tribunal. I'm honestly hoping for a DB assassin the first time he tries to sleep in town where he thinks he'd be safe
It's so refreshing to watch a blind playthrough when you know every cell by heart! Hyped as hecc!
I felt it when he said "no heal minor wounds!?"
Felt that in my soul. I know ik 4 months late, but I havent seen any of this playthrough yet, and this man is in for a fucking treat, and a nightmare
2 years ago, and i'm just watching it now.
It’s gonna be very interesting seeing you play through a game I’ve never played before myself unlike Skyrim and Oblivion. Gonna be blind for us both! Should be great fun
Now this feels like christmas.
YEEEEEEESSSSS KING!!!!! never thought i'd see morrowind on this channel!!!!!
ngl, when your health was super low while you were fighting the scrib i had mad anxiety because all it could have took to die was one hit from it! yet you survived! azura is truly watching over you...
me too, that little worm has been the death of me so many times
Holy crap, this series has been going on more than a year already. It feels like it was yesterday.
I'm so glad these letsplays exist. They're so genuine and relaxing.
You can also find Jiub’s soul in the soul Cairn in the Dawnguard dlc of Skyrim
BY AZURA! IT'S THE LAFAVE BROS! PLAYING MORROWIND! NEXT TO ME!
EDIT: I see Max is still running from the guard. Understandable. Hopefully his list of crimes(his schedule) clears up soon. I'm hyped for this playthrough though!
Oh man, hope you love "Pick the Flowers" quests! The Mages Guild is all about "here's my shopping list and did you do the homework for chapter 2" in this game...
People of UA-cam, welcome to a Morrowind let's play!
Morrowind, specifically on Xbox is something I somehow love watching
"Max just got swamped with work and school,"
Guys, I think Emmett is in denial about Max hanging out with other friends and that Max might possibly leave the channel in 2020.
it feels like I play as 7 years old, everything is new :))
Yessssss!!! By Azura! By Azura! By Azura! It's here, my favorite, Morrowind!
Now THIS is a Christmas gift. Truly a special game. I believe in you Emmett, you'll do great! I miss Max too, but you're a great host on your own, and I appreciate you taking the initiative.
oh boi
Misa kiv that about sums it up
This is gonna be goooooooooooooooooooood. :3
*licks chops*
oh boi yeh
omfg
The journey begins
"Or like they have a fart they're trying to let out" *sniff "this scent is new" 🤣
Now ain't this a suprise!
Christmas miracle!
I will watch Outlander but make it quick.
But seriously, what a Christmas gift. Gonna have a beer and relax with this 👌
I feel really sorry for Max’s absence, but I can totally understand what he’s going through. Still, I am so excited about this! I never played Morrowind before, I only know the general story.
Should've been Youngmer
Your Fatigue affects pretty much everything in game, especially the "RNG" of combat (whether you deal damage or not) so you want to keep your fatigue high. easy way to do this is to buy "Amulet of Stamina" from Galbedir at highest floor of Mages Guild in Balmora and cast it a few times before a fight when your fatigue is low.
Max whenever you see this, I want you to know we support you man, go out and kick ass at school. we await your return when you finish your crusade.
@@suecorumrex3471 Well I prefer going to Mournhold anyways just to 'unlock' it, since it doesn't take all that long.
I can't ever finish this darn game! I always get about the middle and begin all over again
But if you enjoy it, does it matter? I suck in most of the games that I love, and I still enjoy them. I can't even finish the Balmora quests in Morrowind, but the cozy feeling of this game makes me come back for more pointless walking and admiring.
@@alexeysaranchev6118 I feel exactly the same!!!
I've been meaning to give it another go to actually finish it this time. Sadly last time I started it up again I had some frustrating problems with getting mods to work. If I am to play I really need the model overhauls... The graphics are just a little too old for my taste.
They don't really like you when you approach them with a weapon drawn
Yup minus 5 points to disposition.
And they hate you more if you go Tomb Raider on their families Graves !
I like how it looks like you're not sitting in the center of the camera view as if you are leaving space for Max to come and take a seat.
damn :-(
I want this guy become a voice actor!
every time I see YOUNGMAN on the screen I am reading it in the YMCA voice
I guess Skyrim was too cold...?
Lol that's literally my exact thoughts on Skyrim
I don't blame them, skyrim is kinda a boring game to make a playthrough about
Skin Puppet has nothing to do with being trendy.
Skyrim is garbage.
Word of advice Emmett, you gotta hold your attack button for a few seconds to do the max damage, if your stamina gauge is low your chance to miss goes up rapidly. Combat hasn't aged well.
Combat aged fine, people just don’t know how to get maximum damage output early on by investing in skills and using the appropriate weapon.
MY FELLOW EPIC GAMERS
THIS IS A CERTIFIED KING MOMENT
Great to see Morrowind getting some attention! I found the cuts a little jarring though- for example, talking about finding the way to Caius' house, and then instantly appearing at his front door.
Holy shit! This is my favorite TES game! Can't wait to see where this goes!
Wow ... just jumping into Morrowind is like jumping into the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey and saying ,”I’m swimming to England!” This is exciting.
It's crazy to play Elder Scrolls on anything but PC.
Yep
This is the game that started it all for me with the elder scrolls series. This game was so badass when I played it back in 2003. I loved the variety on how you could build your character, like all the different weapon types and magic spells along with mixing and matching different armor. They need to bring these features with the next elder scrolls games.
"oh, man, this directions" - hahaha... Sweet summer child.
Hahahahahahahaha i can’t tell you how satisfying it is watching an oblivion/skyrim player try morrowind, i can’t wait to watch your experience!
fatigue also plays a heavy role in everything including hitting so pay attention to that too
I'm glad that anyone still remembers this beautiful game.
"I could eat sweetrolls all my life, that'd be fine with me" 9:16 your answer lies there :P
Finding things out for yourself, what works and what doesn't also finding your own way to places in this game is REWARDING asf. Plus the lore in this game is one the best i've ever seen in a game.
You were sent to the Morrowind by the same guy who said "Let me see your face..."
never saw it.
Emmet: answers the man's questions then picks up a ready class and didn't steal the ceramic plate to sell it
From this i know the walktrough is gonna be fked lol 😂
Back when the map that came with the game acutally had a point besides just being a poster. I'd scan the map with the directions written in the journal entries to figure out where I needed to go. It adds a whole new layer to immersion.
Blessings of Stendarr upon ye
I just started playing this. I'm going to play Morrowind, Oblivion & Skyrim this summer. I have declared this the summer of Elder Scrolls.
a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. Thank u and Happy Holiday!
Thank you. I will enjoy every ep. I have the same experience with Elder. Just 4 and up.
inb4 "ugh, he chose a pre-made class? he didn't even min-max his stats in this game he's never played before, this is literally unwatchable"
Don’t forget “NOOOO U GOTTA STEAL THE PLATTER NOOOOO U CAN’T JUST PLAY HOW U WANT NOOOOOOO”
Watching you play this for the first time is hilarious, i hope you do a full playthrough of this and maybe even livestream it
So youre playing alone now? WHAT A GRAND AND INTOXICATING INNOCENCE
I love the camera angle hasnt changed and hes there in spirit
By Azura, by Azura, by Azura! Morrowind! It'll be interesting to watch you play a game that actually respects the player's intelligence.
The most epic intro music of all TES series!
Some might even call it GOAT!
