The reason you can't hit anything and I'm surprised nobody has told you: Your character/class specializes long sword, you're fighting against your own stats!
I noticed from the Oblivion and Skyrim playthroughs that you like to play a "jack of all trades" type character, but thats really not going to fly in Morrowind, especially at low levels, and ESPECIALLY for your first time playing. You have to really focus on one type weapon and armor type and get good with them or you're going to have a very hard time.
I love how ignorant he is with the lore also, I want to tell him everything but I don't want to spoil it. Seriously one of the greatest stories in any video game ever made, defo best ES story.
@@BibtheChib Morrowind definitely has the deepest lore of the latter two games (Skyrim/Oblivion). I could spend hours just reading all the books and talking to the characters and learning the history of the game.
yup, i tried that once during my first time on morrowind and it was just so difficult
A jack-of-all-trades is actually kind of ideal, it's kind of unnecessary for example to pick multiple weapons and armor skills, so you might as well pick a few schools of magic instead.
@@Marckillius Well Oblivion and Skyrim have the same lore. Most books you find in Morrowind you can also find in Skyrim or Oblivion.
"No! No, I'm too late! I thought I could get here in time, thought I could stop you!
I don’t like to think about zombies.
Now go...
WHYYYYYYY?
If you have to travel, by the Nine stay on the road.. It's the LaFave Bros you see..

Cave Rat: You Elves are all the same, all flash and no fury!
All flash and no furry😏
Rats in Morrowind seem to be more fearsome that dragons in Skyrim.
Sany Suny not because they’re tough but because it’s hard to hit them early on.
Well maybe a bit of both.
And just when you think you're used to the rats, they introduce blighted rats.
Rats are terrible at end game morrowind, because they carry all kinds of diseases!
@@RebelGiga wtf u mean late game? can't get diseases late game because of the corprus "cure"
Both of the rat ladies in Morrowind and Oblivion have the last name Thelas. 😯
I know this video is old, but seeing you put on the clovis helmet and get jumped by the rats in the storage made my day.

"Fatigue drains while running"
That explains your "Morrowing Combat" skit lmao
"You guys also said stealing was a good thing to do"
Dammit guys you're a bad influence on Emmett
Morrowind actually lets you thrive on crime unlike Oblivion and Skyrim. Great fun
@@joonakoskue5317 That is only because the legal system is completly fucked and no one will notice you doing crimes. When it comes to theif guild quests and mechanics regarding thivery Oblivion and Skyrim are far more interesting.
Tomte What I meant is that in Morrowind, there are actual valuable items in non-quest related places. In Oblivion and Skyrim it feels like the only valuables around are meant for you to steal during quests.
@@joonakoskue5317 I never felt that way. There are more hiden and unique Items in Morrowind but I stole far more in Olbivion and Skyrim.
Ah Morrowind. Good luck, this game takes no prisoners :^)
But plenty of slaves!!!
prisoner of morrowind xbox interface
Pure punishment and perseverance. I like how you went in completely blind, no starts guide or anything. It makes it so much more interesting and nostalgic to how the game was when we were kids.
"In Baltimore" lol
This rat battle was intense!
A tip: accept the first order from Caius. He'll give you a bit of gold and send you freelancing until you're ready to return.
And buy a simple healing spell! The simpler the better, since it has the lowest chance to fail.
Simple heavy armor would also be good, it protects better and wearing it will train you in its use for the future.
Also, get a bigger weapon! Enchanted "demon" ones from Ra'Virr are invaluable at the beginning, giving you the spell to summon the top-tier version of said weapons. They are unique to his shop and summoned version don't ever get blunted or break, given you use the summoning spell that goes with them. They are also fairly cheap.
ALWAYS JUMP. It will level your acrobatics. But beware of stamina getting too low.
When Larrius gives you the quest to kill the camonna tong guys, don't attack them outright. You can "taunt" them from the persuasion dialogue until they attack you themselves. May take some time with low speechcraft. DO NOT KILL THEM UNPROVOKED! It will ruin the rest of the game in a spectacular bug where guards will try to kill you wherever you go all over the Morrowind.
Special Snowflake spoilers, man.
@@man_who_sold_the_world soz :
Also, doesn’t Larrius pardons you if you just walk in there blasting?
@@man_who_sold_the_world he's supposed to, but scoring a bounty of 5k or more will get you a death warrant resulting in you being an outlaw forever. His excuse removes the bounty itself, but doesn't remove the warrant. Hence I said it was a bug.
At least in a pc version that is! I'm not sure how things are with xbox, but I'd say it's better be safe than sorry.
Special Snowflake yeah, I got that bug too, I got attacked by imperials guards in forts, but I thought that was openmw problem, even console couldn’t help me. So I guess taunting is really the only option.
That serious face fight w caius had me crying he just looked so confused and offended and just said f it and started stabbing caius
I'm having fun watching you play Morrowind. Hope you complete the game. :)
Some more advice with fighting:
*Your class is warrior so long blades would be a better pick because you start with a higher skill, thus higher chance to hit than short blades.
*Chance to hit = your skill, fatigue and agility.
*When you look at your weapon you can see for example: Thrust 1-8, Slash 1-10 and Chop 2-12.
*Movement influences which attack you do. Forwards/backwards = thrust, side = slash, in place = chop.
*The more you charge the attack the higher the damage. In this example a fully charged thrust would do 8 damage. Also in this example "best attack" turned on means you would do chops even when moving in another way because chops would do the most damage on average ((2+12)/2).
*Equipment is important so it's best if you buy some that fits your skills as soon as possible.
You'll also want to wear medium or heavy armor, as Warrior has those as its main skills, so they'll provide a lot more protection than light armor.
@@leirynot To add to this, check which skills are governed by what stats. For example: Heavy Armor is governed by the Endurance stat. So the higher the Heavy Armor skill and also the higher the Endurance skill that ties with it, the better your protection will be from attacks. You level up Endurance and Strength, Agility, etc. when you sleep and gain a level. The combat skills are leveled the more you use them in-game.
- You may want to buy a longsword and some heavy armor seeing as you have high stats in those skills. The short blade was missing because you had a very low skill level.
- If you talk to Caius again he'll give you 200 gold.
- When you level up, invest in agility, as that is the stat that determines your chances of hitting an enemy.
Good luck and happy New Year!
What manga is your avi from?
@@lunamamans7326 Danganronpa
@@parspin2564 Thanks

The look of confusion at 13:05 is priceless
Its good to see the SHIRT back
On behalf of our lord and savior Uncle Sweetshare, I'd suggest you show the Colovian fur helm some respect!
A few more things:
1. The woman in the cave rat quest, her sister is the one in Oblivion with the rats.
2. If you have too much stuff to carry, find a spot and drop it on the ground. Containers DO reset and most have ownership tags, so beware; but cells do not, so you can leave stuff on the ground and it won't disappear, just try not to over do it as you can overload the engine. If you need a permanent container, break into Hlaalo Manor in Balmora, the corpse in that building can hold an infinite amount of stuff and will never vanish. On that same note, the rate of how fast you lose fatigue is based upon your current encumbrance versus your max encumbrance, so if you drop stuff, you will move faster and lose less fatigue.
3. Buy a different weapon, one more in line with your skills. The daggers and short sword you are using are short blades, you're not very skilled with them. I'd recommend a long blade weapon.
4. It doesn't matter how many potions you 'take' you only will ever drink one at a time. Potions are also divided up into (not counting player-made ones) - Cheap, Standard, Quality, and Exclusive. Obviously the better the potion the stronger the effect.
5. On a similar note, you are not skilled in light armor, it's doing you zero good wearing that light armor you bought, you're more skilled in medium or heavy armor.
6. If you want to speed up your fatigue regen, just wait an hour. Much less time wasted. There are no schedules or such in this game (without mods), so stores never close, and time of day only really matters if you're a vampire or werewolf.
7. You can join the Mages Guild still and then jump to the other guild halls using their fast travel service, each guild hall for both Fighters and Mages guilds each have a guild chest full of stuff you can keep or sell, for some easy early game money.
8. Blocking btw is based on chance. You can't 'choose' to block, it just happens at random. But a high block skill does equate to a higher chance to block. Blocking does 100% negate damage as well from melee attacks when it hits.
9. The attack type you use in combat is based upon your current movement. For example, spears, their best attack is based on if you are moving forwards/backwards, rather than standing still or going left or right. Turning on 'use best attack' simply gets rid of that.
I'd recommend doing Ajira's quests. The egg poacher quest will require you to go through the egg mine, which will not only involve you killing the poachers, but also a bunch of kwama foragers and such as well. The mushrooms Ajira asks for can all be found around/in Seyda Neen. Her other quests are:
Fake Soul Gem: Put a fake soul gem in Galbedir's desk (which gives you the chance to steal everything on Galbedir's desk, most of which are valuable soul gems you can sell to anyone BUT Galbedir)
Flowers: You will need to find 4 flowers for Ajira, but this is easy, as Ajira will sell you two of them, then someone at the Legion Fort can sell you another, and the last can be found at the Balmora temple, also being sold. Alternatively you can find all four of them just outside of Balmora in plants.
Ceramic Bowl: you can find the bowl she asks for inside the guild or purchase it from a nearby shop, pretty simple
Stolen reports: Her reports are found on the floor, somewhat hidden, inside the guild.
Doing Ajira's quests will net you a bunch of free potions (not counting the freebies you find in the equipment chest), which you can use or sell. If you choose to as well, you can steal everything off of Galbedir's desk, but just beware, you can NEVER EVER sell soul gems or use Galbedir for enchanting EVER again if you do that.
You can still use Galbedir for enchanting afterwards, just make sure you don't try to do any enchanting with one of the soul gems you stole.
@@leirynot Actually due to a bug, EVERY soul gem type you steal from her is counted as stolen, forever.
@@TheNN Really? Must be an X-box thing as I never encountered it on PC.
@@leirynot Well if you didn't encounter it on PC, is it because you patched the game with a mod? Because the bug exists on the base game on PC without a mod to fix it. I know because I've had it happen before on PC.
@@TheNN I usually didn't do the quest until I was very high level, and I did notice that if you kill someone fast enough/without other people noticing you would only get the 40 gold bounty for assault (I usually would kill the khajiit trader for his enchanted weapons was how I learned it), so it could be that I never got high enough bounty to earn a death warrant. I did encounter a similar glitch after killing enough Ordinators that they attacked me on sight though (I wasn't very far through the main quest, I would just kill them to sell their armor to Creeper).
I'd recommend you to get a longsword and a set of medium or heavy armor. You have way higher skill with those than with light armor and short blades. In Morrowind hit chance is tied to your weapon skill and fatigue, so aside from doing more damage you'd also get in way more hits with a longsword. (Or broadsword, saber, claymore, katana or daikatana.)
Summon spear imo
Trebonius is one of my favorite characters in Morrowind, it's so cool to hear you're going to be voicing him!
Happy new year! I hope max makes a return soon, the empty space where he normally is makes me sad :(
The year isn't even over yet.
@Fidelity
Have you heard of the -high elves- TIME ZONES?
You like pillows... don’t you YOUNGMAN????
Happy New Years. Hard to believe this game is nearly 2 decades old. Still better than the vast majority of games nowadays. Sad how the older games are so much better than newer, but it let's us enjoy them, almost like a time capsule.
Ive seen mudcrabs more fearsome than you.
You look like somebody who wouldn't faint in *heavy armor.*
Need something?
You elves are all the same, all flash and no fury!
*Cough*
Speak quickly outlander or go away.
There’s a lot you should do in Seyda Neen, before you ever leave for Balmora you can get a full set of armor weapons and 3000+ gold
Start jumping everywhere, constantly. :) It'll help later
Fun fact: Whenever you return to Seyda Neen.... go way past the wooden bridge and always follow the road with those few trees..
At the end of the road you have to turn left, after you turned left go always straight ahead.... you're gonna experience something "above magical" 😁😅
You'll scream with delight!
Whats that falling from the sky?
That confused me quite a lot as a kid who didn't understand English well enough to be playing Morrowind. It's still a rather interesting choice to put that event so close to the starting village.
Yeah that one.
But don't spoil it, he should find out by himself lol
I’m pretty sure it’s on the straight line from Seyda Neen to Balmora. That’s how I always used to find him.
Really enjoying the play through so far, watching you get messed up by rats really takes me back. Don't worry, Morrowind rewards patience and understanding it's mechanics, it's a lot easier once you learn how it works. Once you get a couple levels under your belt, it'll get a lot easier.
I have some general tips:
- You had the right idea buying a bunch of equipment, but you probably want a longsword since Long Blade is one your major skills. Working within your major/minor skills will help you immensely.
- Money is actually pretty important in this game, and spending it liberally will help in the early game. Potions and equipment are good choices, training is also very useful and will save you a lot of time and headaches.
- Don't be afraid to explore and go off the beaten path, but also know when to run away. Morrowind doesn't adjust loot to your level, but it also doesn't really adjust enemy difficulty. High risk, high reward.
come on we need more of this, weekly is not enough to feed my addiction
Khajit hass LaFave, if South Garden Boy hass coin.
Emmett, thanks for playing this shit. This game is super close to my heart, I played it constantly when I was 13 and was the first RPG I really delved deep into. Gets me hype to see you enjoying the jankness of it lol. ...By the way, there's actual levitation magic in this game and it's really useful!
You do have command over which attacks you can utilize, and it has to do with the direction you are moving when you attack. Standing still will perform a chop, moving from side to side will do a slash, and moving forward/backward will do the stab.
One more tip: you can rest when you're not in a city (the same way you would wait in the other games) and restore HP and fatigue for free. You risk being attacked, but it can be very handy.
Been binge watching this channel like no other
There are a lot more factions in this game that meet the eye actually. On top of the 3 usual guilds, there are also Great Houses that you can join (3 of them, they are mutually exclusive), Temple, Imperial Cult and Morag Tong. This game has a crazy amount of quests.
Hey Emmet! If you’re looking for a good long sword there’s actually one in Balmora at the eastern guard tower. It’s hidden on top of a closet in one of the top floors but there’s a guard near it! To avoid losing the sword to those pesky guards, you gotta punch the guard and lead him to the basement where you’ll pay your fine and run upstairs to grab it.
I love the playthrough so far and it always brightens my day when I see a Skyrim, Morrowind and Music video pop up in my feed from you.
Couple of tips:
1. Check your skills--see which weapon types you have the highest in and start equipping weapons of those types. You will hit more and do more damage.
2. When Always Use Best Attack is not checked, you can use different attacks: Overhead when standing still, side swing when moving left/right, thrust when moving forward/back. Each weapon's attack types are different. For instance, thrust on a hammer is going to be very, very low, but it's overhead and side swipe attacks will be punishing as all hell.
3. Do NOT fight Caius Cosades.
3:22 This is the Wayn
I played Oblivion and fell in love with it, also played Skyrim, but I've so far also neglected to try out Morrowind. Glad to see I can share this experience (Yes, I was also gushing when I heard the reocurring voice actors.)
Dude, I have never gotten such good commentary on Morrowind gameplay. Dunce cap! Sneak animation is a dance move!! Running look like old man chasing chilrenz!!!! Outrageous!
LaFave letsplaying Morrowind, this is the best new year present! Please keep up the good work, you are amazing!
These morrowind episodes have been great! Never played, but watched my roommate in college sometimes when I was super stoned.
Now I’m gonna have to start playing morrowind. Wish me luck as I’m gonna need it!
Luckily thats a skill in the game....
I'm going to start it as well, I've always wanted to play it.
Ballooned Raccoon Its a good game. Just get used to reading if it’s not your thing. Unlike Skyrim and Oblivion, most text isnt spoken.
One thing I like theres less limitations in Morrowind.
You’re going to be new to the game, make two of your major skills long blade and heavy armor, eventually you’ll get Goldbrand which can be converted into Eltonbrand, practically the best weapon in the game. And Heavy Armor applies to bound armor which you can glitch to be used as normal armor is instead of conjured
Sgt Haddix yo thanks for the tips my guy
That bruno mars clip paired with the footsteps was a stroke of genius.
Subscribed due to this let's play, so thanks. I am in the mood to see some morrowind, and I like how you summarize what happened in the previous eps
Yo Emmett! I'm sure others have already said this, but just to increase your odds of seeing it: you were missing the rats so much because your Short Blade skill is super low. Check your stats to see what your highest weapon skills are and focus more on using those. It will improve your accuracy a bit and do more damage. Hope this ends up helping! Looking forward to the next episode, wherever it leads!
Happy new year! here's some advice for ye.
- Caius Cosades made you a member of the Blades, and as such other members of the Blades will offer you assistance if you find them. He does give you the names of the ones in Balmora but the most helpful one is actually just two houses down from his abode, "Rithleen's House" and she'll give you two pieces of good heavy armor for free.
- Hit chance is based on weapon skill, fatigue, and the agility attribute. Unlike the later games which generalize the combat skills into broad categories, Morrowind has specific skill traits for each type of weapon (for example: Blunt Weapon, Long Blade, and Axe) so initially while you are in the suck-phase, you'll want to pick the type of weapon your character is best with.
- Having your weapon drawn will reduce your disposition to people you talk to; best to always put your weapon away before talking to people.
- There isn't a "stolen goods" indicator so generally avoid picking up items in buildings or in cities if you didn't buy it, and don't carry it around if you're going to get in trouble with the law, as they'll confiscate it and you may not even notice it for a while.
- Joining separate guilds that dislike each other has an effect on your relations with the members in both; however, it isn't really an issue in the early game and you can easily find out what those may be by rationalizing it (a pious group like the Tribunal Temple probably don't like the Thieves Guild.)
Hope this is helpful and best of luck to you!
Few tips:
1. Use weapons that the character is most proficient with. This greatly increases your chance to hit, making combat less frustrating.
2. Depending on the weapon used, it is more advantageous to use charged attacks then spamming the attack trigger. If a weapon has a large difference between damage values (larger weapons like swords, axes, maces, etc) it is more worth while to charge and perform a more powerful attack. If the weapon has a small difference between damage values (smaller weapons like daggers, short blades, staves, etc), it is better to repeatedly attack.
3. Keeping fatigue up is critical for a greater chance to hit. It is more advantageous to stand still and not move much during combat as moving drains fatigue. Use a fatigue potion if your fatigue is low.
4. If you plan on collecting mushrooms, you will want to go back to the Sedya Neen area where most of the mushrooms are. Plus, there are a few quests that open opportunities to get quite a bit of gold and gear. If you clear the smuggler’s cave, you can grab some Skooma and Moon Sugar that fetch a pretty good price at Khajiit merchants (There is one in Balmora).
5. Resting is crucial. It allows you to restore your health, magicka, and stamina. You can only restore your health and magicka by resting in the wilderness though.
The beginning of Morrowind is quite tough but as you get past the first few hurdles, Morrowind will be much more rewarding to play. Keep at it and the experience will be much more enjoyable.
I'm waiting for a 'Morrowind in real life', I can see Emmett's goofy walk, oh my yes
Really loving this lets play series so far, I literally lol'd at 13:00
I’m hoping Emmett begins to be influenced by Sheogorath and sporadically turns to his side to talk to “Max” for advice.
"Which door should I take?"
"...."
"Capital idea, old friend!"
Emmett proceeds to eat thirteen cheese wheels on camera.
Hey LaFave! Just wanted to say that I look forward to your videos and streams. Maybe a bit goofy to say, but it brightens my day when I see a new upload from you guys! Happy New Year!
This game was my childhood.
Nostalgia at its finest
Emmett, go back to Seyda Neen at some point and rob that warehouse next to the customs and excise office, it is full of moon sugar and skooma, as is that bandit cave you tried. Also, you can absolutely cheese the game by drawing enemies next to a door and going outside, healing, and going back in. They will never follow.
There’s also a murdered tax collector on the peninsula off to the left as soon as you leave seyda neen, finding his body will trigger a quest to solve his murder, you can interrogate townspeople about it and they will tell you from there. If you play your cards correctly you’ll get an exquisite ring and 700 gold out of it, as well as a place to live in Seyda Neen
I knew I wasn't crazy as a kid when literally everything killed me!
Best advice I can give is find yourself some armour. Maybe do a few non-combat side quests do build up some coin.
The mudcrabs in this game are legitimately fearsome.
If you play this video at 11:55 and 47 seconds, Emmett will say "Wow, okay" just as the clock strikes midnight, slingshotting us towards a new decade. Start your 2020 off right, citizens!
Edit: happy new year everyone ^_^
This reminds me of the old oblivion videos when they first started and I love it
ok a few fighting tips
1.Weapon type: with your class your highest skill is in Long blade so any sort of standard sword or katana will allow you to hit more consistently and alot harder
2.conserve your Fatigue: your Fatigue level also affects your hit chance so make sure you have not depleted your Fatigue bar otherwise you are not going to hit anything
2.Armour type: your class gives you better protection with Medium and Heavy armour, you are currently all in either Unarmoured or Light gear giving next to no protection
3.Purchase better gear: Never be afraid to go out nad purchase some better gear, unlike later gmaes where you can just live of of what you find in Morrowind it is a good idea to drop some gold into purchasing a set of gear for your character, don't forget to sell rather than drop items and gear you don't want as it all adds up for gear you need.
Nice way to end the decade
spam jump everywhere you go, especially up stairs! Levels up your acrobatics insanely. Also, you are able to change attacks by holding down a move direction whilst attacking.
This is SO consistent with my experience with Morrowind. It’s an absolute joy watching Emmett get merked by rats again and again
There's a house in Balmora with a dead body on the floor, if you want to store items that body will never despawn and it can hold unlimited things. There's a bed in the top floor free to use too
Good people of the LaFave bros channel...WELCOME TO THE LET'S PLAY!
Emmett! So delighted that you're playing one of my favorite games! I do have some possible tips.
You can take or leave this advice, but it helped me out a lot to enjoy the game. There are certain things to avoid, and certain things that'll give you a huge leg-up.
1) By god, yes, stealing helps a lot. Take all lockpicks, take lockpicking scrolls, pick locks anywhere you can. Helps so much to get through doors and get you fat loot.
2) Marksmanship like arrows, throwables, etc. are pretty useless. Melee is the long-term dominating strategy, long/short blade especially! Offensive magic is also kinda useful, but only if you have the patience to stock lotsa potions.
3) In Caldera, there's a scamp in Ghorak Manor. He will buy weapons, armor, and dwarven coins from you AT FULL VALUE. Take whatever valuable spare weapons/armor you have to him and sell them to make excellent money. You can now afford basics like training, fast travel, and spells! SO useful.
Stick with it! This game is so much fun when you get past the early-game struggle!
I went to a daedric ruin by the volcano northeast of the crab city and got a levitation staff. Between that and archery, I was basically cheating
That rat quest, during my first blind and infantile playthrough of Morrowind was how I obtained my first and only property in the game. I can't recall how the woman died. But upon her death, and that of the rats, I was over encumbered. So I stashed a good many items in that house to continue forth. Not long thereafter I came across both a ring of mark and recall(legitimately blind/no guide/circa 2003) I returned there and left my "Mark" from that point on it was a staging ground for all my future exploits. So many great experiences with this title; I was young, very new to RPG's, and hated this game for the 1st 8-10 hours. But then my eyes were opened and it was pure joy and wonderment from then on. Until my jaded experience with Skyrim :/. Aaaanyway
This Let's Play is really bringing back the good memories!
Fort Moonmoth? Didn't the empire have space-faring moths in the past that let them visit the moons and stuff?
Happy new year from Finland! Morrowind's sandstorms remind me of Darude. I still hope you and Max will return to Skyrim, because that's where we Nords belong
This is why I love Morrowind. You can get a stronger sense of accomplishment for killing a few rats than Skyrim gives for beating your first dragon.
please see this playthrough to the end of the main quest! im only 18 and i just finished my first playtrough and i absolutely loved it.
You attack by moving in different directions while attacking. For example moving forward and attack thrusts, side to side should slash etc etc.
Also yea morrowind is an old school RPG, it's not easily approachable. A lot of fun once you learn it's weirdness and get into it though and your friends might start to wonder where you are.
he set up "always use best attack" which removes this possibility, iirc.
I'm super happy Morrowind is getting played and hope Emmet sticks with it, through all the weird little quirks it has and the general difficulty increase. These have actually been incredibly entertaining to watch, especially with all the editing and fun stuff spliced in it, making the beginning slog worth watching.
Choose a single weapon type to use and stick with it for the entire game. That is how you get really good at hitting stuff and doing damage. I would recommend doing long blade as it is fairly common and is what goldbrand is.
I'm not even the one playing and this game's combat system has me frustrated with the constant missing. Its like it's trying to be a turn based RPG and an action RPG at the same time.
But hey, I guess Shulk opened an egg mine after he killed Zanza.
Also, I love how completely silent you were while stealing from and getting killed by "your boy" Caius.
Just think, its only a matter of time before Jiub writes his opus.
in one of the guard towers in balmoral there is a enchanted ebony blade you can steel all you need is a very strong invisibility potion you can buy in the mages guild or the town alchemist
It's both sad and funny to watch someone play Morrowind for the first time. I am happy that you didn't get discouraged, since you have, as I'm writing this comment, more than 30 videos on Morrowind.
You didn't seem to notice but when you slide the bar to take multiple potions even if you set it to take all the potions you can only take one at a time also you should spend a bit money on training your weapon skill (depending on which weapons you use).Farawell outlander and have a happy new year!
Watching this playthrough is an interesting insight into how much the mechanics of gaming have changed. When Morrowind first came out, gamers didn't have as much trouble figuring out the basics such as stats, dice rolls and chances - and by extension how to decide what skills, weapon and armour types to focus on - because a lot of CRPGs back then were based on D&D mechanics that players would have already been familiar with. Coming straight from you guys' Skyrim playthrough, it's kind of cool to see how Bethesda streamlined these mechanics into a more modern and intuitive style in their recent games. I love Morrowind, but it's no wonder it feels clunky and unforgiving in comparison.
Oblivion is the sweet spot
HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS! i just came home from partying... and thought i am drunk...... but it goes ok... and now i watch them guys
The LaFave Bros give me that dose of nostalgia I didn’t know I needed
I've been playing through Morrowind on PC, but this Xbox playthrough really brings me back to when I played it as a kid on the original Xbox 😊
The attack you use is determined by the direction you are moving towards iirc, here's some tips you might like:
You don't have to run to the bed to sleep and regen, you can simply rest nearly anywhere, as long as there aren't any enemies around.
Also recommend jumping while going anywhere for easy acrobatics levels
And moving in two directions at once for faster movement(imagine pressing a+w on a keyboard at once). Game thinks its double the throttle and lets you run faster.
Because of these vids I just re-installed Morrowind onto my pc, and was amazed that a game this size, and open world, despite the dated graphics, is only 780.2 mb??!! I forgot just how small (in mb's) these old games were!
Don't keep running into enemies after the first "thrust" attack, stand still and keep whacking them so you can focus on hitting them more often and faster, quicker, and harder; moving around makes it harder to keep the "cross hair/reticle" on them.
22:00 Hold down the attack button for a "charged attack" and just tap it for a "quick jab", the direction you move in determines what attack you do, just like in OBLIVION and SKYRIM.
I'd pick the flowers and buy a long sword. The miners will be too strong for you right now.
A tip I would give is to take a lot of the ingredients you come across. There are a ton of brutal poisons, diseases, etc that will utterly destroy your stats. Potions are very useful for this type of stuff. That, or get some spells or enchantments that can remove or heal this stuff.
Your videos have been great over the pandemic! It would be amazing if you did a KOTOR run
Holy shit you're in Skywind? That's awesome my dude can't wait to play
Funfact, the lady who he killed the rats for actually has a shipwreck associated with her. It's a boat absolutely filled with crates of pillows, as well dead crew and a note indicating who they were delivering them to.
Long text, but should be really helpful.
Tired of waiting all the time to restore fatigue?
i recommend buying "Amulet of Stamina" from Galbedir at top floor of Mages guild. (it should cost less than 10 gold)
using it restores ~20 fatigue and it holds 5 charges which slowly recover on their own, making it a fatigue potion that has infinite uses.
(just make sure to wait 1 second between uses, as using it faster than once a second will cancel the previous use, so you will not gain full benefit of it)
While you should not try to do main quest at your current level, you should go to Caius Cosades and ask for orders
if you ask him for orders before you reach level 4, he will tell you to go gain some experience first, and will give you 200 gold to get started.
Since you are using built-in class, make sure you read what your major and minor skills are, so you know what type of weapons and armor you should be using.
(Warrior should be Long Blade + Medium/Heavy Armor)
When "always use best attack" is off, you can choose which type of attack you do by movement:
Chop Attack: Attack while standing still / Attack while moving diagonally
Slash Attack: Attack while moving left or right
Thrust Attack: Attack while moving forwards or backwards
if a weapon says for example (5 - 12) damage, it does not randomly do between 5 and 12. it means it will do 5-12 damage depending on how long you held the attack key.
You can see when a weapon is fully "charged" when the animation stops while holding the attack key.
Don't feel bad for dying a lot, this game is unforgiving and everyone dies often. It is part of learning the game, just save often.
Loving this playthrough, playing this game has always seemed pretty daunting to me so it's great being able to watch you play it!
7:37 oh I gotta mark this moment down
I'm so glad you're doing this, while working on university projects I've probably listened to the Oblivion playthrough 4 times over this year, so its nice to have something new :) I'd also love to see more Private Selection!
