I bought this film on DVD, and I watched it and thought it was DULL. I kept checking the timer on my DVD player. I later sold the DVD at CEX. The man behind the counter said "Not ANOTHER copy! This is the 30th one!".
I didn't know my opinion was THAT universal hahaha!
Honestly, I LOVE Muppets Take Manhattan, but for me, that's because, for myself, as well as a lot of graduates who have just left university/college, can relate to the struggles of the Muppets as they try to pitch and fund their dream and it becoming increasingly difficult to the point where the have to land menial jobs to make ends meet. Then there's that "Saying Goodbye" song, which is a tearjerker for a variety of reasons:
1: This can be relatable to a lot of graduates who part their separate ways after college/university is finished, especially if they've formed a friendship in that time and keep in touch whenever they can (except through social media).
2: Jim Henson's death in 1990, to the point where the song was used in a memorial to his life at his funeral. This could relate to the other puppeteers of the Henson company who have died (like Richard Hunt (Scooter, Beaker, Janice), in 1992, and Jerry Nelson (Robin, Floyd, Gobo, Count,) in 2012) and who have retired (Carol Spinney (Big Bird, Oscar), Frank Oz (Fozzie, Miss Piggy), and to a degree, Steve Wiltmere (Kermit), who was simply fired.
Somebody's Getting Married is kinda a tearjerker for me, as it reminded me of this one man I wanted to be married to as we were both like Kermit and Miss Piggy due to our opposite personalities.
The movie (You Can't Take No For An Answer especially) reminds me to never let the dream die, even if there are setbacks, such as funding.
I find elements of the film relatable, but these aspects are a small piece of watching the movie as a whole
I Loooooooooove this movie!! Possibly because it's Muppets on Broadway my two favorite things.
At first I was confused by your opinion but thinking about it now I get it. The only things that stick out of this Muppet movie are the songs especially the ending and the moments where you see Piggy get angry. It makes sense that if you don’t have the gang together it kinda slows down like a turtle. This is the first one that doesn’t haves villain in it so that makes it unique.
I feel like the first movie accomplished the message of chasing your dreams better than this because at least it felt grand, cinematic and balanced with Its interesting story and memorble jokes and still to this day holds phenomenally well.
People are making me more and more excited about getting around to reviewing the first film xD

I enjoyed this movie as a kid, I was either 11 or 12 years old when I saw it. But it spoke to me at that time because I was thinking about what I wanted to be when I grew up and had a dream of moving to New York City. But now as an adult it doesn't look all that exciting anymore, plus I can see the bloopers that I couldn't as a kid.
This is my favorite muppet movie! Bummer you didn’t like it as much. I always appreciated how when the muppets handled with issues such as failure, stress, and working against difficult odds. Kermit has always been a slightly sad character, so it’s interesting to see him at his lowest and even him losing his cool a few times. It makes him feel more human. The humor in this movie is more subtle, but that never bothered me really. But I will admit the movie is a bit scattered. This is a cool series you have, keep it up!
Muppets Take Manhattan was the first Muppet movie I've ever seen I was a little kid and I have it on DVD
Parents once told that when I was very young I would cry whine a lot and when they put on the DVD of Muppets Take Manhattan I would calm down
Maybe it’s because it was the first Muppet movie I saw, but I really like it. Then again, I like all of the theatrical Muppet movies, even Muppets from Space. What are your thoughts on the Butch Hartman controversy?
I can't really give a fair opinion on the Butch Hartman drama until he finally responds to the criticism maturely, but until then, I think what he's doing seems really shady
Samuel Brent Mr. Enters campaign isn't that bad. He's not scamming anybody and he actually listens and responds to criticism, the problem is that he's asking for a gigantic amount of money from his fans.
This is my least favorite Muppet movie. It's not bad, but it's one of those movies that im not a fan of but what everyone seem to love. Im not a fan of the songs and its lacking in the jokes department. Not to say there are jokes in this movie. But, there's not as much compared to the first 2 movies. Not to mention while the first 2 movies feel like it's catered to both kids and adults, this movie feels like it's catering mainly to kids and its more cheesy compared to the first 2 movies as well. But, I think it's okay.
This was the first Muppet movie I ever saw as a kid and (besides Sesame Street) this was my introduction to The Muppets
I really love this movie. I can see the flaws of it, but I still really liked it. To me, there aren't any bad or meh muppet films.
Though I understand your opinion on the film, Jim made a good choice in giving the directorial duties to Frank. You can't be too hard on him, after all it was his first directed film.
I'm gonna be honest and express an unpopular opinion, I honestly like Muppets From Space better than this movie.
Apart from Christmas Carol, Treasure Island and the 2011 film I don't like any of the Muppet movies. All the stories are dull, the celebrities feel like CBBC adults and the Muppet characters feel out of place in the real world, just like the Looney Tunes in Joe Dante's Back in Action. Still I'm really looking forward to when Jambareeqi reviews the film that invented the summer blockbuster.
I haven't seen the first film. I'm going to wait until Jambareeqi reviews it before deciding whether I want to or not
I do enjoy it but I have to say it's my least favorite of the Jim era films.

I feel like out of the original Henson trilogy, this is my favorite and my least favorite Muppet movie at the same time. I love the first act with its dynamics, Kermit doubting himself as a leader and being uplifted by others, and even the gang's selfless decision to branch out and pursue other goals in order to avoid being a burden to Kermit. On top of that I love how chill and grounded it can be, Jenny and her father and how welcoming they were, and the way it focuses on the heart of the series much like the first movie, and there were some comedic sequences I really liked (In particular Scooter and Rowlf's letters, as well as miss Piggy in general). But sadly the pacing feels sorta sluggish in some sequences (like in Kermit's disguise schemes and in some of the less funny Muppet letters), and by the time Manhattan Melodies finally finds a producer, it feels like too many plot points are crammed for a relatively short climax, making the running time feel unbalanced. It's a shame, since out of the movies with the original cast and crew this probably had the most interesting premise to me, as well as the puppetry techniques being better than ever. So yeah, a very hit and miss movie in my opinion, but one I still respect for what it got right
For a while I got muppets in mahatten and the muppet caper mixed up. Very happy to find out they were different and muppet caper was way more enjoyable. Ifound the baby segment very cringey. I’m a huge Jim Henson fan as he is my hero but this movie is just meh. I kept the DVD though as it has Kermit’s solo film on it which I do like. And I love muppets in space. But muppets Manhattan just didn’t do it for me

I would say that Jaws doesn't really count as a puppet movie, but you did review Godzilla and Jaws does use an animatronic shark so I guess it counts
I run this show to explore how broad puppetry can be, it's not just marionettes and Muppets. Live action puppetry is simply the art of bringing inanimate objects to life in front of a rolling camera, but the problem is that the term "puppetry" has become synonymous with such connotations as "childish" or "silly". As a result, more mature or sophisticated puppetry is dismissed as not being puppetry at all, because people have stigmatized the medium', and "Puppet Panic" is designed to encourage people to be more open minded about what counts as puppetry.

I think that's clever since it will be the 120th anniversary of the original book and of all wizard of oz adaptations i've seen the Muppet Version uses the most source material.

So what, whatever children sing are annoying? I like "I'm gonna always love you". You find to be annoying and obnoxious, I see it as cute and upbeat.
