2:06: I wouldn't say the humans of Sesame Street talk down to the muppet characters, considering some of them are meant to be children. Also, that scene of Big Bird learning about Mr. Hooper's death was really effective, I don't think it should be taken lightly.

An animal house styled muppet film would definitely be pretty cool.
I would say the concept of the muppets having to put on a show and the struggles that go into it has been pretty thoroughly explored in the muppet show

Not the best muppet movie certainly, but the wedding scene makes it worth it imo. I believe it was the movie scene with the most puppeteers ever, at least at the time

I haven't seen this video yet but I just wanted to say that this is personally my favorite Muppets movie and I watched it a decent amount when I was a kid. Although it's also the only Muppet movie we had on DVD so make of that what you will. Personally I'm glad I pre-ordered the 4K Blu-ray of this movie as soon as I saw I was announced.
I wonder how many people back in 84 dismissed the Muppet Babies sequence as little more than a marketing stunt. Needless to say, if they're out there, they probably had a heart attack when the subsequent cartoon became one of the longest-running Saturday morning shows in history (that actually aired *on* Saturday morning blocks; sorry, 80s DuckTales).
That said, I've never seen this movie and it's probably not required viewing
I was introduced to Muppet Babies from the 2018 series (which I very much love) and had no idea the original was from the 80s ( I knew the muppets were around since the 50s with their first show being in the 70s) I asked my mom if she had seen it (not knowing I was talking about the 2018 show which I'm sure she didn't know about) and she said she had, well when I went to look it up one day because it wasn't playing on TV (this was during my 2nd or 3rd Muppet phase) and I saw the og, at the time I wasn't a fan of 80s and 90s cartoons, but now I love them (with my fav 90s cartoon being rocko's modern life, which it's actually playing on my TV right now on Pluto tv) so anyway at first I hated the og Muppet Babies because it was an old show, but now I love it, and I would do anything to watch it, even if that means having to watch a full episode in parts, also they showed a non animated Muppet Babies scene in a muppet family Christmas, which is crossover with the muppets, sesame street and fraggle rock, just like muppets take Manhattan was, despite sesame street only being at the end and fraggle rock not being there.

Yeah this movie is a big step down from the first two. It’s very clear that the budget on this one is lower (it was a different studio) and Jerry Juhl is missing. It is a pretty emotional movie but the humor did not really work for me. Where are the fourth wall breaks? Not to mention, the script for the first movie calls for it to feel timeless whereas this just feels like an average ‘80s movie.

This was the funnest film to record! Me and the gang loved looking around New York between takes (Miss Piggy kept saying it could be where our honeymoon is..) Me and Fozzie still go to Pete's to this day!

I think you have to review Meet the Feebles at the end of this Muppet marathon. Not many people know about the movie that does to the Muppets what Team America did to Thunderbirds.

Funny story, I had to compare this WITH Jason Takes Manhattan for a film class.
This movie is pretty good. However, the thing is: it wasn’t written by Jerry Juhl, who wrote so many banger Muppet movies and episodes of the Muppet Show. Instead it was written by director/Muppet performer Frank Oz (Fozzie, Piggy, Animal, Sam Eagle) who handled the characters well but didn’t have as much of that punch some of the other movies did. Still a great movie though.
I know I'm probably the crazy one here but Honestly I love this one and the great muppet caper and I honestly think the first Muppet movie is just okay again I'm probably wrong especially because I haven't watched the first Muppet movie since I was like 12 or 13.
I feel the same way but I also watched these two way more than the first as a child which I think colors my perception
Muppet Movie has the heart, Caper has the spectacle, Manhattan is a mix IMO.

Yeah, I liked The Muppets Take Manhattan, but I still prefer the original Muppet Movie and Great Muppet Caper. The Muppets Take Manhattan had heart, but it just seemed to be missing something the other two movies had. Maybe it was that it didn't have as many wacky Muppet moments and had a more dramatic tone to it...I don't exactly know. I still prefer it to any of other Muppet movies after Henson passed away.
Safe to say your review was more entertaining and better paced than the actual movie. This was unfortunately the Muppets movie I remember the most. A DVD of it came in a box of cereal we got growing up (think it was Honey Nut Cheerios), so it was the only Muppet movie we owned. We did watch quite a bit of Muppets From Space later on, which while not a masterpiece, is far more entertaining. You nailed the main issue with this movie: Jenny. Every scene with her is so boring, and her dad’s not much better either. Oh well, peoples is peoples.

I agree that this was not a particularly strong Muppet Movie and it was provably the one I watched the movie the most as a kid. In fact, I watched this movie so much back in the day that I decided to watch it in French a bunch of times to keep in fresh. It feels so weird looking back on it since this is definitely one of the weaker Muppet movies in my eyes. It has its moments of course but the pacing is very off and for me at least, most of the jokes do not land.
This is structurally the worst of the 3 original muppet movies but it has the most memorable individual scenes for me, like the scene with Miss Piggy and Joan Rivers is so iconic. Also Rizzo is one of my favorite muppets

I've watched this movie twice and both times was kinda hilariously depressing? The first time I was at a friends house and their mom swore that it was so funny and a good movie but I could tell she was seeing it for the first time probably since she was a kid and it was sort of okay? The second time I tried to make sense of it when I got older hoping it wasn't as boring and with more Muppets movies and shows to recall on. But the problem was the same. It's excusable if these are bits on the main Muppets Show, there were the occasional duds that weren't as funny but you moved on and there was some other bit or sketch that was funny or entertaining, it washes away the feelings you just had, but packaging that into a movie doesn't work because you want to enjoy the whole experience and have everything come together as something funny and heartwarming like every piece of Muppets thing you've ever seen. And it kind of never does which is sad.

Love this movie but the end makes no sense...even though I love it as well. And the amnesia plot should have happened a bit earlier IMO.
Peter Jackson did a better Muppets movie than that one.
I've grown to appreciate this movie more when I consider this was Frank Oz's attempt at bringing more grounded life and weight to The Muppets. It's less a comedy of raw chaos and more a personality-quip based one. As is The Muppets are still strong when it comes to their interactions, it's just that indeed a lot of that comedic potential is sacrificed when it's mostly just Kermit and Piggy and a bunch of nameless rats and humans.
I can't hate this movie but it's def not the GOAT that The Great Muppet Caper was.

@@austinmitchell2652 well firstly, I dare say this is one of the most emotionally charged of the muppet films, the songs are fantastic, kermit's character growth is compelling and the plot itself rings true to Henson's own life, struggling to get the muppets onscreen, he was rejected by so many producers so really this is a very personal story, as for most of the characters being split up, I thought it made the film more scenically diverse, maybe it's just me but I find it fascinating to see what the muppets would do without they're fame, the biggest strength with this film is it's touching ending where miss piggy and kermit get married, so many people discard this film as boring when in reality it's anything but, sure it's slower paced and vastly different than the others films but it's the most compelling and dramatic of them all while still maintaining a fun muppety spirit :)

I’d hate to come off as a Karen for this but, your use of the F-Word namely “Fucking” is driving me away from your videos, especially in your Muppet movie reviews and it comes off as something hurtful and kind of like saying a racial slur when you say it.
My boyfriend walked in on me watching this video and insists you sound like the Spanish dub voice for Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man.
I've been compared to a lot of voices but this is one is a first. Telemundo used to play that shit every single day, I'll have to catch it next time lol
