I totally agree. I came here as I loved it here. Just go to Walmart and look at the people, they look totally sick, and now these bugs are eating us all up. I see a lot of people covered with bug bites. Obesity really shot up. I think it's around 70 per cent. 20 per cent are only overweight. Hardly noone is normal and noone (0 people) is good looking anymore. The water is VERY bad. I wonder if the people look as if they have one more year to live because of the bad water and air? I am very sad, because it's amazingly beautiful. Ospreys and pelicans everywhere. Those sunsets. But I don't leave my car anymore during a sunset. I hate to sleep with 50 per cent deet on my skin. I'm forced to constantly bath in deet. Very unhealthy. I'm constantly scratching my skin while typing this. It's insane.

If you're younger or not a beach person, don't live in Clearwater. I'm way more of a city person and Tampa has so much more to offer than Clearwater. That's my opinion after living 3 years in Clearwater and 2 in Tampa. That said, visit both. I highly recommend visiting a few different times of year. Currently it's red tide season so people living on near the water are suffering. In the summer, it can be hot/humid or thunderstorms each day and around early September we usually have a hurricane hit and you can have a waterfront view of it from Clearwater - technically, Clearwater Beach (and no matter how much people here think that Tampa Bay is immune to a hurricane, it isn't (see 1921)).

Great weather and beaches. Unfortunately pay is low and rents more than a minimum wage workers monthly pay. Few jobs .Average one bedroom $1,500 and you must make three times more than rent to be allowed not to be homeless. So you need 3 people to rent a one bedroom but most places only allow 2 people per bedroom. Bumper to bumper traffic. High crime. Homeless pandering everywhere. I lived in Florida for 20 years and moved up north because Florida became unaffordable. People are living in survival mode and using each other just to survive. Not enough water to go around so cost is high. Bugs make nights uncomfortable. Heat makes you want to stay indoors from 8am-8pm.

Think twice and then rethink it again! You can be financially wiped out from just one hurricane! I have a family member who is locked in with an insurance company who refuses to pay out for Hurricane Ian…. Ins. Company says $90,000. while the replacement cost appraisal is double! Traffic on I-4 is a nightmare, no one knows how to drive, nor how to use directional lights! House insurance has increased 4 times what it was 18 years ago! Groceries are 3 possibly 4 times what you are paying now!

I can't speak to the taxes in GA, but compared to MI where we moved from, they are about 30%-40% cheaper on average. Insurance can be difficult if you have a home with an old roof. The average home in TB in a non-flood zone, with a good roof, I'm seeing anywhere from $2K-$3K.

I have 200 bites. This is in 2022. It is sooooo much worse than in the years before. I don't see any bugs. They grow 1 inch and after 2 weeks they are still VERY large and visible. I feel mutilated. The cons of clearwater has to include a certain cult known for its aggression towards its critics. That is probably risky to address by a realtor living in that area. My concern about moving to Clearwater, specifically, is wanting to make sure the tendrils of that specific organization have not infiltrated local government. I know, Orlando has its Disney World, and Clearwater has its own carnival, so to speak. If it can be avoided, fine. Live and let live. But if it is so big, which I have been under the impression is (probably) true in Clearwater, then I would not find that very attractive.

As a REALTOR I’m prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. So you’ll have to do your own research to make an informed decision.
As a Resident who lives just south of Clearwater Beach, I have never been approached by anyone from the “Church.” So take it with a gain of salt.
