@@stevenjohnson8736 probably Miami is the most expensive place to live in the US. Basically Florida is becoming the new California. Even though California is better weather in the summer it's so hot in Florida it's like a sauna in Florida in the summer😱
I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
@@SantiagoWyatt- The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
@@ent1311 HOA fees and lot rent that has no limit. If you buy a condo, the HOAs have come up with astronomical fees because of insurance and improvements they neglected. You don't pay and they take your property. (Thank you to Rick Scott for making that possible.) Many of 55+ communities seem affordable, especially the manufactured housing, but the lot rent is already over $1,000 / month with no limit. You are better off being a snowbird and renting for a while. The Republican Florida legislature does nothing because they are too busy making "morality" laws.
I am a Floridian born and raised and I'm planning to move out in a few years. The only reason I haven't moved sooner is because all my immediate family is here but I'm growing older and it's time to get out. Reasons include Summers continue to get hotter, more humid, and longer. Also traffic is horrible everywhere you go. Another reason is prices are ridiculous for everything or home prices, insurance, groceries, gas. I've never been a beach person so I won't miss that. Never been a fan of flat topography either. I'm moving to the mountains of Tennessee or North Carolina and enjoying 4 seasons and hiking/camping. I will make regular visits to Florida to see my family but I'm very excited to leave this state.
I don't know maybe you can just go to Florida and go on government subsidies have the government pay for the place for you. I hear people doing it. Not just the newcomers.😮
No fire sale and it is far different than 2007/2008. WHY, because condo fees have doubled and tripled, insurance costs have gone through the roof, repairs and reserves on most buildings are out of control so no real estate agents are willing to say that if you think you need $1500 a month then double the money to meet all the other expenses so you actually need $3000. I had no mortgage and I was priced out of my condo just because of the huge increase in condo fees, insurance, repairs, and taxes, huge. Just moved to Europe at 73 years old since USA is out of control.
That's totally awesome😅 I want to renounce my US citizenship. The United States is horrible it's too expensive even on government subsidies I can't afford it😢. If I can't leave I will have to do wrongdoing to pay for my rent. Possibly identity theft. Again even on government subsidies you still can't afford it😢
@@trulivingtampathat's because the USA is a horrible greedy country. I'm going to have to leave the US myself😢 even on government subsidies it still cannot pay the rent or expenses. NO THEY CAN NOT HELP ANYMORE. They basically just said sorry that's the best we can do. So I'm going to renounce my US citizenship and probably go to Canada or maybe Vietnam. I hear it's really cheap to live in Vietnam and it's very safe😅. The USA has lost its priced me out😢
@derickderidder7785 sorry. What's has happened to you !! I have great memories of good old days, when life wasn't so complicated and money wasn't the key to happiness ...
@@sarahjones3007 A lot of people think that if they don’t live coastal they’re safe from hurricanes, I can tell you from living inland, inland floods, and the water alone can destroy your house. The expense of living in Florida isn’t always on the front end-it takes one storm, not necessarily a hurricane, to erase everything you’ve ever done. Also, American healthcare.
If you want to move to Florida and want to buy a house, please talk to the people in the neighborhood or the area you want to move in and live in. They will tell you the average prices of the homes and the history of the area, ask about possible flooding and other things that might be a worry. I have lived here all my life and i will honestly tell the house prices are ridiculous and they usually arent worh the amount of money your being asked to pay for them.
If you are trying to live an upper middle class life, florida is not for you. I live in a $1.6m home in lower CT. Now 1.6m in tampa gets you a dump by the water. Most of my family lives in florida so naturally i tried to look to move down there to tampa. I'd need to make nearly double my salary to maintain my lifestyle despite no state income tax 😅. Its a total joke, salaries are literally half to 1/3 of up north. It literally makes no sense to move to FL.
*Overall, Florida is too expensive & overhyped* ... but come, just be ready to be in deep regret afterwards. I say visit for a month...if you don't like it. Cool.
A lot of people leave FL not only due to the high cost living but the low wages. I'm not just talking about the blue collar jobs but across the board wages are below the national average.
@@jaredtheboss Yes, I live in FL. I have lived here for nearly 10 years and have worked in workforce development. Considering the low wages, we have to look at the high growth industries within FL which are: hospitality, IT, Healthcare, Logistics and Construction. Additionally, with how inflation and the steep rise in cost of living, we have seen many middle class families either a) seek assistance from food pantries, or b) leave Florida all together because they can earn more money with a lower cost of living elsewhere.
Lived here for 55yrs. Born here. Can't afford to live here anymore.. too much traffic. Too much crime. Insurance is outrageous. If you can get Insurance. 😢😢😢😢
I suggest anyone considering moving here to try your hardest to spend a whole summer here first before you commit. I think from 9 summers of Florida living that the super humid part of the summer is actually 6 months long. And it’s like getting out the shower every day without being able to dry off. And just walking around like that all day.
@matthewsmith2362 Are you serious !! Every place i go is has air-conditioning !! You apparently liked it ,you came for 9 years !!! Sorry you don't anymore!!
I am a native Floridian, fifth generation. This state has changed tremendously over the years. Cost have gone up and so many people. When people move here they need to understand that they are going to have to adjust to many changes. We have thought about relocating to another state because of these changes. For now we stay, but might relocate in the future.
I have moved to Florida 3 times in my life. All on the West coast Sarasota, St. Pete and Clearwater. It must be amnesia because I always forgot how oppressive the heat and humidity are. Maybe if you are retired and can live indoors in ac, it would be ok, but awful if you need to spend any amount of time outside for work. I loved boating and snorkeling but the traffic and heat were unbearable for me and those were in the days when the cost of living was very low. I think I'll stay in Massachusetts.
I agree. Was going to purchase a house until the quotes for homeowners insurance came in. No way I was going to pay 17k a year. I'll stay in MA and vacation somewhere warm a couple of times during the winter months. Dodged a bullet!
@@lovingthebeach On my break from work, I'd stop at McDonald's. Always the line of old people in their pink and turquoise shorts, taking 10 minutes to place and order (like the people behind them have nowhere else to go either). All with that same blank look on their faces. Then they'll go back to their condos or wherever and stare at their TVs, in their pastel living rooms because it's too hot to go outside. And there are people who are jealous of their 'lifestyle'.
I've lived in the Tampa area for 10 years. I am considering a move very soon. The cost of living have increased tremendously, but the wages haven't kept pace. The weather has changed as well. Much hotter summers and colder winters (still no snow though). Insurance prices (auto and home) are insane. Property taxes have skyrocketed. The public school systems always rate low. Home process have been coming down, but are still way too high.
You hit the nail on the head with the 80% increase in home values since 2018. In Pinellas County, you can't find a decent home for under $300k. Couple that with flood insurance, and it's not worth it for most people. Those who come to Florida and think the beaches are clean and empty find out quickly that it is crowded as hell, especially on weekends and holidays.

Then don't go to the beach on weekends and holidays. Problem solved!
You do play down the negatives. I am a Florida native and yes maybe Tampa has not had a direct hit but we do lose power. There has been numerous times I have lost power for a week in the middle of summer. People get scared and try to leave the state and get stuck on 75 during the storm. Lots of flooding.
I agree. I’m a lifelong Floridian, and I laugh at some of his videos. My literal comment to my husband was, “wow, way to downplay Florida’s issues.” I guess I can’t blame a real estate agent for trying to convince people to move down. We’re in VA and debating moving back to my home state of FL and my husband’s home state of MI, because we have two kids and want to be closer to family, which is how I found these videos. But in this one he actually said, “more freedoms.” I’m not sure what freedoms he’s referring to, but I’m starting to think it’s a dog-whistle, because I have no idea what freedoms FL has that VA and MI don’t have. Also, I have lived in Tampa, Miami, and Los Angeles. I would rather sit in two hours of LA traffic than in 30 minutes in my hometown of Miami.
*I'm not saying don't move to FL, just all the issues are real. And you will experience them all when you come here... once you get over your honeymoon with this state. Then comes logical thinking* also people be getting scammed out here
Lived in Florida from 1962 to 2020, when I relocated to another state. I will never return to Florida! It was once a truly wonderful place to live, not anymore. As for estate tax the IRS tax only kicks in when an individual leaves $13 million+. Just check the state you want to move to, to see if they have an estate/inheritance tax. Florida is too crowded, roads are like parking lots, people have grown increasingly nasty, taxes and insurance costs are ludicrous. And frankly after all those years I got tired of preparing for hurricanes every year and yes, I went through way too many on the East coast. Took my state paid pension, Social Security and 457 account and am enjoying spending it elsewhere!
Traffic, sinkholes, high home and auto insurance, lots of potholes, bugs, alligators in your backyard. Too hot to be outside for a few minutes, lots of angry people(road rage) low paying jobs. Construction going on everywhere, all the time. Don’t come 😬😩
A lot of broke people here and scammers because no jobs here really paying over 40k. Please leave so prices can go back down. Be scared of the heat , cost , hurricanes , power outages for over 2 weeks , jobs 16hr, traffic , bugs crawling in your home while sleep, and etc .
I left Florida (Tampa Bay) 4 days ago after living there for 27 years & only regret not doing it sooner. Jobs & pay suck, housing crisis ignored by state government, cost of living has skyrocketed despite said jobs & pay, sweltering summers that seem to never end, hurricane anxiety (Category 4 & 5 are the new normal), worst drivers in the country, perpetually angry people, outrageous insurance (home & car), toxic politics, proudly ignorant & outspoken population, Ron DeSantis….how many words/characters does UA-cam allow in the comments section?
@@betho4212 I moved back to Massachusetts and I’ve never been happier. Wish I hadn’t wasted so much time in a state in spiraling decline. It’s so liberating being amongst the civilized & enlightened once again.
Yeah I had my shock trying to move to the Panhandle. I’ve been away/ out of Florida for 27 years. First auto insurance quote had an increase of $5K per year for 5 vehicles! Not to mention the price of houses. House listed for $800K+ with a tax assessment of $350K. So much for retirement life.
We went in July to see if we could handle the humidity. Surprisingly, it was easier to adjust to than I expected. When we move, we plan to be as close to the water as we can afford. (Edit: we also visited Texas and the humidity was waaaay worse there!)
Born and raised here and the humidity is bad, been here all of my life you cannot judge this humidity off of a visit. Some of you are going to justify moving to Florida even if flames are coming from the street.
@user-kk3qg5el1m we are moving for about 2 dozen reasons. It will be our US base for one as we spend most summers across the pond in Eastern Europe. Not really worried about the humidity. We have plenty of places to go during that time.
Thank you, Juan, for this video (and other videos, too)! Agree with you 100%. My husband and I moved to FL 5 years ago and have loved it since then, just like you! With all the challenges totally worth for us. We love living close to the best beaches, enjoying the lifestyle, nature, and warm climate! First, we lived on the east coast, Boca Raton, but then fell in love with the Gulf Coast and, therefore, relocated to Tampa Bay last year. We do make little less money here than where we came from, but we spend less on travels as FL has everything we love! All the best to you and your lovely family ❤
I lived in Tampa for thirteen years and thought as of last year, I wanted to move. The cost of living and politics were heavy factors. I left last July. I regret it. I had a chance to try out three other major cities and ultimately settled in another large state and city 3x as big as Tampa. I really miss FL and the simplicity of Tampa. Don’t listen to people who keep saying that ALL the jobs don’t pay. What I tell people is to ask themselves, if everyone was making low wages, how in the hell would people be able to buy homes in the state? It’s a lie! As I interviewed for jobs in different states, I saw that pay (depending on what you do!) is on track with FL. I worked for a major employer in Tampa and made more than I ever did up north where I’m from. I’ve lived in five states and can honestly say no state is perfect. It’s up to the person and what they value. I hate the negative people. While many leave, many more come in daily and STAY.
I'm a resident of Florida for 31 years and enjoyed the beautiful beaches, wide sources of food from various grocery stores, farmer's market, etc and a high paying job for 20 years until I retired 10 years ago. After my retirement I invested my money in stocks which is giving me excellent ROI that allows me to travel to Middle East and European countries 7 times a year. Cost of living is rising everywhere but you have options to many places in terms of affordability and safety.
NY/NJ flocked to Florida, Floridians had to go to the Carolina’s/georgia. The past 20 years of leadership has really fucked this state for actual Floridians. Now it’s like no one’s actually from here.
@@nenaddamjanovic8981 Sorry yall, we’re just looking for some of the familiar nature and culture we’ve lost in Florida. Waking up heartbroken every day for years isn’t healthy. We’ve bought acreage in an area of acreage owners and we work together to keep it healthy and protect it. In Florida, it used to be the ranches and groves did that. Now they’re second gen who’ve sold to foreign sod companies. There’s no consideration for wildlife or water quality, just profit. We lived in a beautiful Florida that will never return. 😢 If you’re a Floridian looking to escape and have what we grew up in, look for acreage amid family owned acreage for sale. Most of your neighbors will be of the same mind as you. Snap it up. There are folk who’ll get 5-10 acres and put McMansions on it in the middle of nowhere.
I lived 20 mins east of Tampa all my life and it’s cool seeing people come down and actually find out that Florida is a good place to live. but as young guy I got pushed out of my city I grew up in bc of the high home costs and too many people flocking here at once lol
Good video. We moved to Fl from Va for a short time. Loved the area, weather, and people but simply couldn't see being able to afford to live there long term. Career opportunities were slim, and wages were less than Va. This in addition to homeowners insurance 4X, car insurance 3X, and property tax 2X Va rates...glad we were able to sell before burning through savings. We knew most of these things, our mistake was moving assuming the job opportunities and salaries would be as they were in Va....that turned out to not be the case were we lived.
@@AlexB-km7os Yo, can you imagine buying property and then submitting to letting other people dictate your house colors, pets, vehicles in the drive. I’m fine with kinks but that’s crazy.
After living 24 years in Tampa, I got used to humidity and the summer heat. Orlando is not as humid as Tampa, but we have more beautiful trees with our humidity! I don't miss the snow as much anymore...😎
@@wesleygriffiths8496 It's a beautiful city and I think you'll like it. There's plenty to do but the cost of living, traffic and the economy is tough right now! I'm sure whatever you decide to do it will work out in your favor!!
Florida is a very diverse state. Many people do not do their homework before coming here. There are much quieter areas within the state, and more financially reasonable. Look around before deciding on a location.
I was born and raised in Kissimmee, FL. I left in 2023 because I was tired of the heat and humidity 7-8 months out of the year, flat swampy boring landscape, hurricanes driving up insurance costs, and no seasons whatsoever. Besides the amusement parks and nice beaches literally FL has nothing to offer in my opinion. But even those two things become overrated when you’ve experienced it your whole life.
Wish more ppl understood our weather really isn’t great. We have good winters and unbearable heat/humidity 7 months out of the year. Born and raised as well(ft.lauderdale) and it’s so sad to see what’s become of this state.
@@Cruxis_Angel Meanwhile the guy that made this video always says FL has gorgeous weather year round. That’s straight 🧢. I could understand saying that about California but FL’s weather is trash unless it’s winter. Even still I recall multiple Christmas days where it was in the 80s.
It’s also too wet so get ready for holidays birthdays special occasions to be regularly ruined by the rain. No one thinks about this until after they get here.
I lived in Tampa area for last 12 years and born in south Florida. I like working and living here but the non stop traffic accidents is beyond infuriating. I’m buying vacant land further south with less traffic
@@TropicalTodd I don't live in Tampa, but same problem here. I was out the day after Independence Day thinking I'd be safer because of lower traffic but no, still got hit. Not bad, but Florida... It's probably why the car insurance is so high.
I have seen sellers drop their ask by hundreds of thousands of dollars in some markets. There are extreme problems in Florida where home owners insurance is concerned. I own part of a small infosec company based in Cape Canaveral where I spend anywhere from a few weeks to a few months a year so I am very familiar with Florida. I have two things to say about Florida; only rent, don’t buy. If you buy, make sure you are not catching a knife.
Stuff you didn't mention: 4. Florida doesn't have rent control, so if you are renting an apartment your landlord can raise your rent any amount and you can do nothing about it. 3. Car insurance is through the roof. One accident and you are paying $200/month. 2. Yes, there are great private schools - if you are Christian and conservative. 1. There is no culture here at all. If you enjoy fine arts, foreign films, ethnic cuisine - this is a dead zone. If you are content to sit at home and watch Netflix every night it's a great place to live, but if you are interested in the finer things in life, Tampa Bay is not for you.
@PaulSmith-is2tt Paul ! Chil out, there plenty to do and see !! This is the place to be people are coming here to enjoy themselves! You just need to reboot yourself ,there's always something to see and do. You need to take advantage of it. Sorry you feel so bad !!! Great restaurants, museums, show and great water spots!!! Just hang in there!!!
You are completely right. These landlords in Florida raise their rent about $200 dollars every year..!!!! They started doing this when the pandemic started. This doesn't add up to the salary earned. It doesn't make it easier with a governor like Ron DeSantis. I can never understand why he's so popular with certain locals..!!? Ron DeSantis made it very difficult for the citizens in Florida during the pandemic. There were people that were literally crying on the news channels. He stopped unemployment after 3 months during the pandemic. The other states, all 49 states received unemployment for almost 1 and a half years longer/ facts.!!!! The politicians in the state of Florida have the Donald Trump syndrome..!!!!!
The only thing i noticed is ,when i moved here 40 years ago the people were more friendly, but not so much anymore you. go to a store or restaurant and people would say, yah all have a nice day .but not so much anymore !!!!
I have lived in Florida all my life on a Federal Government salary, paid off my house 10 years ago I bought the house for 125k and now they are offering me 800k,No HOA,No insurance I pay about $ 3500 for taxes, electricity is on the high side and so is car Insurance, but I’m retired so I don’t drive a lot so I’m good
Hey Juan, amazing video once again. I have been in Florida - Tampa areas in March 2 years ago then last year January through April to experience winter my next trip is September for exactly reasons you are talking about cis usually I don’t mind hope and humid weather 🎉
Florida is falling apart in nearly every demographic known to man. What a mess. Glad i left years ago. Buyer beware, you'll get more than you bargained for, if you've never lived there.
Low pay with crazy housing prices. Unaffordable home owners insurance. HOAs taking your property. Our atrocious governor. Rising heat--we now have August weather in June. Rapidly intensifying hurricanes.
I relocated from Atlanta to Suwannee, Gulf coast big bend area, I live on a canal and my back yard is water and a boat house, The natural beauty and wildlife in this area is amazing. Juan is very accurate with this podcast. For me 300 days a year of Sunshine carries a premium I will pay, Also living on the coast is a constant breeze, so the humidity is tolerable, vice say Orlando. Suwannee is a remote fishing village and there is very little traffic, schools are very low end, Cost of living is above average. All things considered you are going to have to drag me out kickin and screamin.
CRAZY housing cost, INSANE homeowners and car insurance cost, HIGH AS A KITE cost of living, crowded everywhere and living in an OVEN from May - Sept. Umm…N-F-W
There's another channel with lowercase Living in Tampa Florida with a Realtor like yourself, who moved from Colorado a few years ago and downplayed the hurricanes and all the problems and then his house in Tarpon Springs Flooded in the Idalia storm that totally missed Tampa Bay and hit well north of there. He made a video about it.
I’ve lived in Tampa 29 years. If you go to Publix now there will be 25 waiting in line in some parts of town. I remember 5 years ago you literally would have 1-3 people checking out at any one time even on Friday at like 5 pm. it’s gotten way busier the beach parking is 50$ for all day pass it use to be 8$ that’s almost 6 times as much.
Ten years ago I wanted to live in Tampa, after spending a lot of time there in winters I have figured out that after two months I am usually quite happy to be leaving.
We left Florida and we're glad to be gone. Our mover told us that previously, most of the moves were into Florida. Now, it has reversed. Eight out of every ten moves now, is out of Florida.
Currently live in Jacksonville Florida and can confirm it is 100% as bad as they say. Horrid state to live and I plan on moving out with in the next couple of years. Landlords are essentially a cartel at this point with their rental prices, running amok and causing the rent to skyrocket for no justifiable reason. Don't even get me started on the weather, 10 months out of the year it's hot, humid and uncomfortable resulting in sky high energy costs regardless of energy efficiency, and did I forget to mention the hurricanes which could level entire neighborhoods within an hour or so?. Traffic has always been bad in the time I've lived here, but over the past few years it's gotten worse, mainly do to the MASSIVE influx of people moving here. Crime rate is nothing to scoff at either, several of the worst crimes in the country's recent history have taken place here, many of which involving children. The political scene is no better either, too many ignorant and misinformed people out here voting in droves for the wrong reasons. Don't even get me stated on the politicians, Former governor Rick Scott was responsible for one of the biggest healthcare scandals in history and got off scott free (no pun intended) while Ron DeSantis is one step away from being a fascist with his banning various books from public schools across the state. And religion (Jesus Christ...), bible thumpers EVERYWHERE. That's seemingly all the older people care about down here.
highest in the nation for flood, home, car insurance. Highest property taxes in the nation. Newsflash; we all pay taxes in each state! No such thing as taking 100% income.... Folks are delusional
Greetings from NYC (Nassau). We used to visit Tampa when my parents were alive. I'll never forget the people there were wonderful to us. We made lots of friends.
Hi. I moved to Tampa Bay Florida in 1986.....I had to return to Indiana after my partner of 30 years passed in 2023....I missed my Tampa Bay Home for almost 2 years....Now I'm finally able to come back home...I LOVE it like you, but now coming back to resume my life of what was almost 40 years already....Maybe our paths will cross. I'll be moving back Nov. 1 just in time for the holidays and the best weather. I'm proud to have been able to call Florida home since 1986...Glad you Love it as well.... Take Care and God Bless, Todd 😀👍🌴✈🙋♂
It’s 100% not sustainable. If you plan on moving here, don’t. I was making over six figures and working for Google before I moved here. I cannot even get a job here. Literally, any job. I have never spent so much money in my life just to survive. There is no way that will ever be able to save money and make it here. The Florida dream is dead.
I lived there for six years and I was miserable. They hated Heavy Metal music and also the restaurants sucked, Hypo-Christians, panhandlers, Mexican illegal aliens doing landscaping at 6 AM, bullied and harassed by drug addicts, gays hitting on me regularly and Hurricane Wilma was a nightmare. Plus you need A/C 24/7/365 and just my luck my A/C in my house and my car went on the same day in August 2010 and was more fuel to the fire to make like a banana. Egyptian doctors giving me a brain scan when I said I have Autism. Always had issues either vacationing there OR living there. I realize that the “blue” states have better doctors and dentists and music scenes than FLORIDUH. Your state spawned the Hell of music aka Boy Bands/the careers of Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Creed and Limp Bizkit. Enough said. Plus going to concerts and sporting events and getting into fights with drunks and locals was enough. Only friends I made and left me to shop in peace were the equestrian people who were in Wellington for the Winter Equestrian Festival and I joked about the beautiful women getting away with wearing tall riding boots and breeches in public and they were all not snooty but quite friendly and surprisingly nice and polite and let me shop in peace and joked with me about being a walking advert for Nike shirts, shorts and sneakers. Some of the competitors were there for the winter months but others were locals. I left Florida in February 2012 for Mass and when I saw snow falling for the first time in nine years it was a sight for sore eyes. I appreciate the change of seasons more since I left the South. You don’t have to be a DINO nor a RINO to know that both political parties are a f’n joke.
BTW I was here full time for 6 weeks and Hurricane Idalia Cat 3 came thru, my house is on stilts so I had a big mess no damage, neighbors whos house are at ground level lost everything, most choose to stay and clean out/rehab and stay.
I've lived here since the 1990's, and spent some time here before that. The cost of living in Florida is ridiculous compared to the wages and lack of government services. The traffic congestion is also terrible.
I pay for rent 48k a year 3 bed 2 bath apat is out of control I know a lot people just bouncing around trying to get by going from 3 bedroom to 2 bedroom people sharing bedrooms but the ones really hurting is family's investors got greedy Airbnb as well just making everything really bad for regular residents but a lot of them are going to other states because is impossible
Came here in 2021 moved to Lake Nona Orlando a well liked area and let me tell you the schools here are terrible!…no programs available for kids with minor disabilities, overcrowded schools, drugs etc…if you have kids Florida is not the place to get a good education for your kids, if it wasn’t for the weather due to my conditions after working 30 years in the cold I would go back in a heart beat!…miss NJ.
I live in Tulsa, OK and have MS. I cannot take our sweltering summer heat here and very recently found out that Florida is actually COOLER than us mostly. I also cant handle extreme cold and cannot walk on snow and ice anymore and looking for mild early fall-like temperatures. Please explain what hot is to the ateas in Florida such as Cape Coral over to the Orlando suburbs. What is the typical "feels like" temperatures frim July-Sept? I am starting to believe its STILL lower than where I am at. I desperately need some natural vitamin D and fresh air. I feel like I am dying here in Oklahoma! My job is remote anyway. And we have a huge growing base in Flirida, mainly around MCO. It would be perfect for me in that regard. And honestly, if its only 2-3 months I need to stay inside, it sure beats half the year around here where I am.
Yes the big thing is the horrible climate. In Florida. It is 88 degrees to 93 degrees with 69 percent humidity fromay to October 6 straight months of unbearable heat
I hope people, and lots of them, move out of Florida. I moved here approximately 3 years ago, and I love it here. I first moved to Clearwater and lived in 2 different apartments there for about 1.5 years. It was too touristy in Clearwater and I had to drive into Tampa to work and the traffic was heavy. Then we moved to Lakeland and I thought the traffic would be better as it wasn't a tourist area, but in my experience, the traffic was worse. Now I'm in Daytona Beach, close to Ormond Beach, and I love it here. Believe it or not, I haven't experienced a lot of traffic here, and I'm no longer commuting to Tampa anymore. The beach is beautiful, although my all time favorite beach is Ocean City, Maryland. The beach is much more expansive than anything I've seen in Florida, and the boardwalk in Ocean City is the best the world has to offer. Still, I'm never going back to Maryland or North Carolina, I'm in Florida until the day I die. And a Gulf Coast summer is nice. The only bad part is Red Tide. The whole area stinks bad for a long time with dead fish all over the beach. We don't have that problem here in the Daytona/Ormond Beach area.

It completely depends on your "ideal lifestyle." If you're planning on buying an average priced or luxury home, savings, investments, travel, entertainment, etc. The news articles all say somewhere from $100k-$120k. I feel like that's pretty close. I know lots of old people that still retire to Florida
I am a Floridian born and raised and I'm planning to move out in a few years. The only reason I haven't moved sooner is because all my immediate family is here but I'm growing older and it's time to get out. Another reason is prices are ridiculous for everything or home prices, insurance, groceries, gas. I've never been a beach person so I won't miss that. Never been a fan of flat topography either. If you want to move to Florida and want to buy a house, please talk to the people in the neighborhood or the area you want to move in and live in. They will tell you the average prices of the homes and the history of the area, ask about possible flooding and other things that might be a worry. I had a chance to try out three other major cities and ultimately settled in another large state and city 3x as big as Tampa. I really miss FL and the simplicity of Tampa. Don’t listen to people who keep saying that ALL the jobs don’t pay. As I interviewed for jobs in different states, I saw that pay (depending on what you do!) is on track with FL. I worked for a major employer in Tampa and made more than I ever did up north where I’m from. I’ve lived in five states and can honestly say no state is perfect. The only thing i noticed is ,when i moved here 40 years ago the people were more friendly, but not so much anymore you. go to a store or restaurant and people would say, yah all have a nice day .but not so much anymore !!!!
You can thank the miserable, mouthy blue locusts for killing the charm and civility down here.
Those new condo laws against retirees create chaos and uncertainty for the future.
The condo market is going to be difficult to say the least for the next few years. 🥲
I have lived in Florida all my life on a Federal Government salary, paid off my house 10 years ago I bought the house for 125k and now they are offering me 800k,No HOA,No insurance I pay about $ 3500 for taxes, electricity is on the high side and so is car Insurance, but I’m retired so I don’t drive a lot so I’m good
The Florida job market is terrible! 99% of the jobs in FL, are severely underpaid when compared to other states.
y
high living costs, bugs, humidity and hurricanes! not to mention sky high insurance rates! lot of crime too in south florida and few good jobs
Hey Juan, amazing video once again. I have been in Florida - Tampa areas in March 2 years ago then last year January through April to experience winter my next trip is September for exactly reasons you are talking about cis usually I don’t mind hope and humid weather 🎉
Thanks for sharing!
If you enjoy the heat and humidity so much, get a job working outside, it’s very rewarding.
Florida has the worst pay for teachers and education is horrible
Florida gov changed that in recent years
The #1 School District in America is St. Johns Florida, and Florida ranks #10 overall in education.
So, your objectively wrong?
Worked for Martin County school district. Pay was so bad had to leave. Un livable salaries.
Game over, get out while you can before your homleless
@magicparkmemories my income suck to have no recourse
Welcome to the club !!
Thank you, this is such a great video. esp. the 'forbs cost of living calculator"
Glad it was helpful!
Florida is falling apart in nearly every demographic known to man. What a mess. Glad i left years ago. Buyer beware, you'll get more than you bargained for, if you've never lived there.
Which demographics are those?
Where are they going to go now? It's a mess everywhere!
Low pay with crazy housing prices. Unaffordable home owners insurance. HOAs taking your property. Our atrocious governor. Rising heat--we now have August weather in June. Rapidly intensifying hurricanes.
you'd better go hide somewhere, you sound fearful
@@christaylor8337 haha they better run and hide in their "safe space"
weak minded people everywhere.
I've been through 5 hurricanes and a few tornadoes
Umm…N-F-W
Have u lived here
There's another channel with lowercase Living in Tampa Florida with a Realtor like yourself, who moved from Colorado a few years ago and downplayed the hurricanes and all the problems and then his house in Tarpon Springs Flooded in the Idalia storm that totally missed Tampa Bay and hit well north of there. He made a video about it.
I’ve lived in Tampa 29 years. If you go to Publix now there will be 25 waiting in line in some parts of town. I remember 5 years ago you literally would have 1-3 people checking out at any one time even on Friday at like 5 pm. it’s gotten way busier the beach parking is 50$ for all day pass it use to be 8$ that’s almost 6 times as much.
need to go to the Atlantic side, near Sebastian and Vero. Much more laid back and less busy. you can park at beaches for free there.
@@kathykobos8980In years past, I preferred the Gulf coast and now I prefer the Atlantic coast. The best thing about the Gulf Coast is the sunsets 🌅.
Lived in Tampa for 4 (long) years, went to the beach once. Drive is too long, beaches too crowded and traffic at a standstill.

If you don't have sufficient income any state will be bad for you.
Ten years ago I wanted to live in Tampa, after spending a lot of time there in winters I have figured out that after two months I am usually quite happy to be leaving.
Thanks for sharing.
We left Florida and we're glad to be gone. Our mover told us that previously, most of the moves were into Florida. Now, it has reversed. Eight out of every ten moves now, is out of Florida.
Good. Would like to get to 10 outta 10.
@@FloridaManConstruction Don't be a rude to people.

I call it the sespool state. One big toilet bowl. I lived there 25 years. I'm from the northeast. Got stuck there so long cuz pay is horrible!!!!
It was getting too crowded in the seventies. Now it's horrible!
How much are you guys paying for insurance???😂😂😂😂. This State is a joke.
highest in the nation for flood, home, car insurance. Highest property taxes in the nation. Newsflash; we all pay taxes in each state! No such thing as taking 100% income.... Folks are delusional
He says he only pays 2500 a yr and he saying he is minutes from the beach. Go figure?
@@melaninmya5313 Live in NC now, 2000 sq ft under air, 12 acres, pay just under $700.
It does occasionally snow lightly in Florida. Even snowed in Miami in 1977.
Wow! Loved the info, thank you!
You're welcome!
Thanks for sharing, Todd!
Florida it’s not Worth
Parents do not watch their kids at community pools
That applies everywhere.
Love it, breaks my heart in April when I have to go back up north.
Yeah, that's too early in my book. Thanks for sharing.
Nice info
Thanks for watching.
Moved to Florida 4 years ago… hate it here !! 😵💫
From where? Do u plan on relocating
It does snow in Florida, but it’s flurries that don’t stick, at least in Crystal River. And maybe not now as hot as it is now.
BTW I was here full time for 6 weeks and Hurricane Idalia Cat 3 came thru, my house is on stilts so I had a big mess no damage, neighbors whos house are at ground level lost everything, most choose to stay and clean out/rehab and stay.
Mostly because of homeowners insurance going up 80 to 100% every year
and the 200k homes cost more in property tax than my 720k house in socal. Ha suckers
I’m paying 3200 a month ..
Tampa had a record year like most of Florida. In 2024, forecasted for it to get more frequent also. And homeowners insurance will not be available.
Good info Thank you. by the way nice fiddle hanging on the wall there.
Thanks!
My first year in Florida, in Sarasota, was so hot, I thought I was going to die. After that, I was acclimated. It's not so bad.
We felt the same way. Thanks for sharing.
Making an estimation, how much a couple with no kids, but 2 dogs should earn in order to live in FL? I like your video and content, I do find your info very helpful.
It completely depends on your "ideal lifestyle." If you're planning on buying an average priced or luxury home, savings, investments, travel, entertainment, etc.
The news articles all say somewhere from $100k-$120k. I feel like that's pretty close. You can do it for less too, but you'd be grinding it out.
Hope this help
@@trulivingtampa thank you for the reply. We’re both nurses and we are thinking to move in FL, but we want to think about and see all the bureaucracy. We’ve been there already 4-5 times and we booked already 2 trips.
Watch out for under-airconditioned public buildings! The locals set the A/C to too hot an indoor temp and shut it off for the "winter" - when it's 77F (25C) outside in November. Florida became my first place on my bucket list to avoid like The Plague as the result, along with the horrible hot weather climate, not including chance of hurricanes.
I am from CT and have lived in Saint Petersburg for nearly 3 years. After Hurricane s Helene and Milton, I know FL is not for me. Besides the weather threats, the heat and humidity is unbearable. I am a beach person, but I'll settle for Cape Cod in in the summer, when I move back to my home state. My family is up north too, so every day I'm missing my little home town in CT.😢
Thanks for sharing. It's not for everyone, that's for sure.
I’m here in Jacksonville on vacation. Me and my kids visited Orlando and the beach. We have a good time, however I wouldn’t change California weather for this. I don’t care how cheap or gas price is better then California but I hate the weather here. It’s so depressing. I’m going back on few days I don’t think I’m coming back. The weather is horrible!!!
how bad was it? been in cali all my life. The timid weather is nice but the house prices are unbearable
