Where I live, inland of Western Australia, it is the heat that we contend with instead of the cold. There is never the nead to have salt on the roads. The areas where wind blown salt spray is a corrosion problem for any metals, including motorcycle parts, is near the ocean. Thank you very much for the introduction to change of exhaust. i’m disappointed that Honda put such a rust prone exhaust system on this machine. I had 2 Honda pacific coast motorcycles that I bought each one used. A 1990, and a 1994 which I commuted on for24 years… The 1990 that I bought around 1997 exhaust system was so rusty in the section under the motor that seems like a crossover pipe, but it was too large to be a crossover pipe. It was also probably part of the muffler system because that machine was so wonderfully quiet. But I took that muffler to a guy that I work with in the welder shop, and he spent two days on it patching it. He said there were just too many holes in it. So he just made a plate and completely covered the bottom section of that exhaust because the guy I bought it from rode the bike year-round, on salty roads in the winter… I was watching these videos about the NT 700 Honda because there is an original owner very clean one with only 7500 miles on it for sale near me. Always garage kept. So I’m watching videos on little things like how to get the rear wheel off, which is a bitch. Maybe the most difficult rear wheel to remove on any motorcycle I have ever seen, and I was a mechanic on motorcycles at three different shops… And now, i’m seeing they have some of the ugliest welding done on mild steel exhaust systems. I think I’m gonna pass on this motorcycle no matter how clean it is. Because, when I see things like this, that are obvious, it makes me wonder about the things I can’t see… yeah, I’m gonna pass on this, and keep my Yamaha royal star venture, and my Kawasaki, Z 400. I was only buying the Honda because it had a fairing and adjustable windshield protection and built on saddlebags which is nice., But I think I’m gonna pass
