Loved this one mate. Very real and honest. A lot of people don't realise the amount of work and stress that can go into producing a video. I especially resonated with the repeated intro takes haha you'd think after doing this for 5 years, that I'd be good at it by now, but no lol. It always takes me at least a handful of takes. Also, loved the little scotty impersonation haha. All the best mate.
Thanks Scotty, means a lot coming from you and thanks for being a good sport. From the comments, sound like a few of us struggle with the intro's haha (naturally, I nail every other piece to camera though). Good on ya mate!
Eric, just relax, no need to be perfect all the time. We watch because the bush resonates with us and you happen to be bringing it to us via video. We like the bush so it does not have to be just right, mistakes or not we will like it. Just keep the film coming and great views of almost anything, 'bush' will be a winner, all I can suggest is find something of main interest to focus on like Scotty fishes or plants, wildlife that can be a focus otherwise more panoramic shots. Most viewers are here because they dream of doing what you are doing and maybe for whatever just cannot get out there but live it through your eyes and your body, so just be yourself, relax and just experience your life and we will just follow your footsteps into the unknown wilderness. Eric off-track thankyou.
Good on ya Erik. Always good to watch a new episode and do understand the challenges and planning required. Is still important to take the time to relax and enjoy the time u spend out bush. I do remember the attempted water powered rotisserie chicken project. It made some good entertainment. Editing had been my weakness when trying to put up what few clips I have done over the years. Am hopeful this doesn't prevent you from continuing you unique channel, as for one do enjoy your content and always you try new things.
Hi Erik, thanks for sharing your adventure. It is important for you to be enjoying what you do as this is what keeps you going back, sharing that is secondary. For me, I just get a thrill trailing along with you and the other guys like Mattsy and Scotty, catching glimpses of the bush and magical locations, then finding myself being transported to that spot in a daydream like state. Many of us are not that fortunate to be able physically experience some your adventures or get out as often, so gratefully accept our dopamine “hit” in any form that comes in, virtually in these cases. The experience is the journey not the destination, Cheers
Thanks mate, appreciate that. I definitely get a buzz out of sharing these adventures too. It's always great to hear when the videos are appreciated or help people get a little dose of nature or adventure. 100 percent agree that the experience is the journey not the destination. Actually on my most recent trip, despite having wanted to get to my destination for more than a decade, I pulled the plug with 6km to go and my destination in sight. It just felt right to stop and I was content with the journey, so I turned around with zero regrets. Funny how it woks sometimes. Cheers Erik
Words will never do justice the appreciation we share for the content you create. Whilst happy for you to take time out and enjoy for yourself, we always encourage you to post new material and are excited to share in any adventures you undertake...thanks heaps Erik and PLEASE don't stop sharing for all your loyal subscribers who eagerly await the alerts of new uploads!!! This, from a follower of your very first post!!! Love your work, and always open a bentspoke rednut to sit back and enjoy watching!!! Cheers Erik 😁🦘🇦🇺
Great vid mate. Hit on several great points - especially the pressure (time, location, angles, shots). It’s such a hard balance hey but I love how you also captured the joys of sharing the adventure.
Thanks Kate - yeah definitely, it's such a balance. I'm actually a bit surprised how much this video is resonating with people, but the comments on this one underscore the joy of sharing an adventure like this. P.s awesome to see you in Ep3, hanging out to watch #4 tonight!
@@ERIKOFFTRACK totally mate. I think people crave the honesty you put out there. We can watch 1000s of vids of dude goes for hike but it’s so refreshing to see real personality and heart. Great work. Thanks re the show.
Great honest video. Loved it. It's important to remember why you do what you do, the videos you do are appreciated but sometimes you've gotta just sit back and take it in and take memory footage for you. Well done again.
Hi again Erik , good to see the film makers side of the story , I think most of us can appreciate the preparation , hard work and bloody "guts " that goes into these videos for you guys making them.
That was some beautiful country you paddled... well, carried your way through 🤭 Don't be too hard on yourself though, as there's nothing wrong with some me time and living the moment, sans camera. Plus, the footage you have shared with us, was awesome, as it gave us a wonderful insight of what you (and other adventurers i.e. Scotty, Mattsy, Kate, et al), all go through and gives us the viewers, a greater appreciation of the time and effort you take to do these videos. So thank you so much Erik, I always enjoy your adventures, big or small, completed or incomplete, we just want you to cherish the times you get to yourself and then feed us the scraps at the end 😂 Cheers Mate! 😎
Ive just started filming some of our kayak trips . its great to get the footage for memories and fun to edit and create a film out of .but yeah sometimes it gets in the way of just chilling in the bush and enjoying the now and living the moment . looking forward to seeing a successful pack rafting video from you and more of your other adventures
Nice little vid Eric, lovely scenes, great camping next to the river the sound of the running water is so relaxing, don't blame you for calling it there, but look forward to your next one 🙂👍
Thanks Erik. That was an insightful and honest video. I have been doing my trips for a bit over 2 years now and have always videoed them for UA-cam for the same reasons; just to share my experiences in our great Aussie bush. And I agree, it’s hard work and probably does take some of the experience away from you. But I also thinks it adds to the experience because you are always on the look out for the right camera angle, lighting or something interesting that you’d like to share for viewers. It probably makes us more aware of what is going on around us. I probably film about 5 times what I end up leaving in because when I play it all back it comes across a long winded. The editing process is also quite an effort. One thing that you highlight is really easy to underestimate and I suspect that even now you look back and wonder why it all got so hard. That clambering over rocks and picking your way through areas off track is actually very very hard. You are on high alert, fully concentrating, looking for the next step and part of the route, you are not sure what is around the next corner or rock, your body is tense, you are carrying a load it is not used to carrying, your centre of gravity is foreign to you, the ground is uneven and branches, loose rocks, slippery rocks, sand and vines are conspiring against you with every step. It’s actually quite stressful and it takes it out of you. But, as a solo hiker, you tend to not video the hard bits because it’s too hard! BUT, you are out there in places where there is no body around and it’s just you and nature and that makes it all very worth it. We are very lucky in this country and I am also very grateful that I have the ability to get out there and enjoy it. When, comes the day, I am no longer able to take the rigours of my own hiking adventures, I hope I can watch my own videos and be grateful that I took those opportunities and went to the effort of recording them for the enjoyment of others and myself. Thanks for sharing and making more great content that we can all watch.
Thanks mate, yeah 100% we are very lucky in this country to have access to so many amazing places to explore. While I hope to be able to visit these places for many years to come, it is nice to be able to occasionally revisit trips - even if only to remind yourself how dynamic these places are and how much they change. Cheers Erik
Really appreciate the hard work, effort and time (and sacrifice) that goes into making the videos, we often take for granted and don't say th aks but it doesn't go unnoticed. Please keep posting even if they don't go to plan, we love them!
Those of us who are fortunate enough to live in the bush understand your situation first hand Erik. Sure it becomes familiar and second nature but you must have the ME TIME to recharge the mind and replenish the stresses we live under. Glad to hear how much that break camping did for you my friend because now you will shoot better content easier for those of us who admire what you do and entertain us through your lenses. Thanks for putting this one up mate it shows the human side of life of what you try to achieve under duress. Bushyboy Oz.
Good on you Erik! Open and honest; keeping it real! You have come further than me lol. I haven't posted my first video yet. I'm a photographer haha, and don't like to be in front of the camera. I shot some Be-roll a couple of times on trips, and that was a lot of work, backwards and forwards etc. Sometimes its good just to take a step back, and enjoy what is before us. That's why we go out there anyway isn't it, to replenish the soul. Keep on being you! :)
Thanks for sharing Erik, it looked like a beautiful bit of river there, but hard work with all the gear. The fact you stopped filming doesn't matter as you said , you fully relaxed without worrying about filming. Sometimes you need to have a break from the world and where you were would be a pretty good place to have one. I always look forward to any video you put out as they are always worth watching, to see the beautiful places you venture into. Keep them coming. Cheers Wayne
Thanks for sharing Erik, I made a few videos myself over the years and most have never been posted. Totally Understand how the filming takes away from the experience.
"Well Hello there" back atcha mate. So glad you did this. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Glad I'm not the only one that screws up and does multiple takes. 🤣 I've produced next to nothing for the last 12 months, except little bits with my phone here and there, mainly for the Facebook side of things. With my issues with depression, anxiety and stress, it takes a lot to dredge up the motivation to do something in the first place, so you, Scotty, Swagman, Kate Grarock and others are my ... surrogates? Not sure if that's the right word. I splashed out a while back and got myself a new (refurbished) gaming computer which has all the same good stuff you need for video editing. Sadly, it's developed a glitch that the shop doesn't seem to be able to fix. That in itself is depressing and I have footage that hasn't been processed. Rant over. 🤪 Thankfully I have you guys to watch and this "warts and all" presentation was still awesome, so thanks for taking the effort. All the best Erik. 😃
Hey mate - glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your support! Yeah it can take a lot sometimes to do one of these videos. Hope you can get the computer fixed and when you're ready get out in to nature (whether you take the cameras or not). All the best mate.
Great video about the realities of filming while on a trip in the bush. Ive just ordered a packraft so look forward to seeing more of your videos on their use.
Welcome back man been a while. Great to see you back in the bush even if it didn’t go according to plan. And yeah the silly swagman inspires a lot of Us.thanks for sharing even thou it wasn’t a full trip
Great video mate. Great to see you out on your pack raft! Totally get the struggles of producing videos. I've been focusing more on the adventures and less on producing videos of late. Haven't posted a video for over a year now. Enjoy the adventure and make the videos when it works for you. Happy trails my friend.
Thanks mate. I totally agree with you. There are times I go out with the intent to film and end up just taking time out for myself and reenergise. I think we all need to do that from time to time. Great vid as always. Cheers Trav.
Good on ya Erik! Great introduction to trying to get into overnight pack rafting. Your a brave man sharing how many takes your intro took haha I can relate to that.
Keeping it real Erik, nice one mate 👍. Haha, as Luke said... brave of you to show how many go's it can take to get the words right. I'm impressed you don't make stupid faces and speak gobbledegook at the camera after a couple of stuff-ups like I do... anyone watching would think I'm a little bit koo koo 🤣 ... and I love your packraft. So jealous of you guys on the East Coast for the fun creeks you've got over there... still, I can't complain... I've got a lovely big river and her backwaters to enjoy over here 😊
Can totally sympathize - got lots of starts to videos that simply went nowhere, the day went wrong, something didn't work out. And I'm not really doing self-reliant solo adventures like you, so yeah, totally OK for things to not go to plan. Also totally OK to put the camera away, take time to slow down and be present. Keep up the great work mate.
G'day Erik, or I should say "well hello there" ; ) I'd never otherwise see the areas you go to, so I for one really appreciate the extra effort to film them. I reckon its fair to say, not too often one has the perfect trip in every respect, but hey mate, that's the definition of experience. Yes like you, I'm totally biased, but can't beat the Aussie bush for a meditative experience. Btw; did you have a rendezvous down river or did you have to make your way back to your starting point ? Cheers Duke.
Well hello there Duke, I agree you can't beat the Aussie bush. One of the reasons I chose this location was that I could raft a considerable section without getting too far away from the car. I had actually planned / hoped to go many kms further, but I stopped at the first of 3 or 4 spurs that would take me back to the main ridge line and car. In the morning I only had a relatively short (but not easy) walk back to the car. Cheers Erik

Very enjoyable, as per usual.
Love it mate, thanks for the real intro into packrafting! New to your page! Just wondering where this country located in Australia, looks awesome.
Love the bloopers

look at some of these legends in the comments :) this is when you know youve made it :)
... nature can be soooo beatiful, when it`s untouched by greedy mankind !!!
100% reason I fill less and less these days,
Just want to enjoy the moment and relax and thats much harder to do while trying to video it all
Which river are you on ????
Well, hello there!
Hi Erik, what is the pump please mate? Thanks
It's a flextail pump (I think tiny2)
Прошу прощения, может быть Вы говорили в видео об этом. Зачем Вы держите вещи в пакрафте, если у Вас есть tizip, и можно сложить все внутрь?
