Still watching but I would have brought up that early church fathers taught a literal interpretation of genesis was foolish because chapter 1 and 2 contradict each other. Eleven of the thoughts I had during the video:
1. We observe MAN-MADE objects being made by a person...but...we've never observed NATURAL objects being made by a person.
2. The Bible specifically states to kill witches and people who work on the Sabbath...so it's right up there with the Koran concerning believe-or-die.
3. What's wrong with the moon being closer billions of years ago? Lungs are only ~500 million years old, so there weren't too many things that would care about crazy tides.
4. If a dog not being observed to produce a non-dog is evidence against evolution, then what about not observing a person live over 150 years?
5. We've only ever seen life arise automatically from natural processes.
6. If God needs a book to communicate, it's because (like all writers) he was just a guy who knew he was going to die one day.
7. Design is the signature of necessity. The universe could only have been designed if it can be shown that every part of it fulfills a need beyond it.
8. Cows & butterflies are just different kinds...of cells. All cells make cells and come from cells. All life is just a variation of the first living thing. The proof is they all have genes in common.
9. The standard & origin for right and wrong is empathy and the order it brings.
10. People have never made natural life in a laboratory. Then why does Kent believe a supernatural person created natural life in a supernatural laboratory?
11. I'm an atheist, my moral standard is empathy, therefore I believe slavery is wrong. Where in the Ten Commandments does a Christian find that slavery is wrong without appealing to empathy to reinterpret the Bible.
1. Is a non sequitur. We have never observed a god doing anything ever. Biological systems can be really complex isn't an argument for god.

9. There is no such thing as objective morality. It is a completely subjective thing which is why so many cultures have so many different stances on what is right and wrong.
10. Origin of life research is making progress its one of the last gaps for god to hide in.
11. The bible is full of atrocities. The old testament clearly states who you can own ( people from surrounding countries), how long you can own them ( for life ), and how close to death you can beat them ( if they recover in 2 days you are good )

There appears to be no insurmountable barrier in moving from nonliving to living systems.

7. What is being said is that the universe shows no sign of having been designed. (I suppose it depends on a given definition. My definition of a designed thing is 'material in shape or composition that does not occur naturally.' So in case of the universe we can't determine for sure if it is or isn't designed.)
8. You know that the 'there's no junk DNA' is bunk, right? In that there are things we know that DNA does. For parts of DNA, we have determined that it does do one of these things. For parts of DNA, we have yet to determine if it does any of those things. And for well over half of all DNA, we know that it does none of the so-far known functions of DNA. Maybe there are functions we don't know about, that's possible. But so far 'junk' seems apt.
And we know that other animals, at least, have vast swaths of DNA that does nothing thanks to 'knockout' tests, where a part of the genome is removed, and the animals develop and live just fine without it. (Not done to humans for obvious ethical reasons)
9. Having a sense of right and wrong causes order by creating a society that acts on that sense of right and wrong. Whether a given society with it's particular standards is successful or not depends on the standard.

Paying for somebody else's healthcare and welfare is "enslavement"? 🤦 I wonder if he feels the same way about his Social Security, because we sure are paying for that right now.
Nobody's really forced to pay anything. It's a social contract when you get a job and you're taking advantage of certain benefits the society afforded you, like roads, schools, bridges etc to get to that job. The society at large offered you that job with the help of everyone in that society. No way to get around that because no one is an island living scott free off the system. Don't want to contribute to society, fine, live with Grizzy Adams in the mountains somewhere, but don't pretend that you're a slave to a system that gave you a job and with that job you're able to get a house or a car and everything that comes with it, especially if you're rich. They're benefiting more so and taking advantage of more resources than the average person to get their wealth.
The way they set up the politics in this country, they really think they're entitled to that 100 million dollar yacht and they don't have to pay the extra tax for the waterways it's taking up space in and the bridges that have to be remade for.
People who actually say that they're being "enslaved" are the ones who really want to mooch off society. Not people on welfare who are trying to either better themselves or trying to survive. These right-wing types need to stop acting as if they're the victim. I spoke to him on the phone after I saw your debate with him and I challenged him to have a discussion about the Bible but he wanted nothing to do with that, he only wanted to talk about evolution. I think that is because he knows the Bible has way too many holes in it and he wants to poke holes in evolution so he can feel good about himself. Inanimate objects can't evolve, but, if you bury that pen in the ground, natural processes will eventually break that pen down into its constituent parts, either by osmosis, which happens naturally without any input, or through biological means, which requires some living organism
