The blue color on the bus is beautiful! Keep it!! It's so cool to see it coming along!!
This reminds me of Phantine, my green bus from high school. It wasn’t as purrrrfect as what this bus has happening with it, but it was fun as hell. Called it the SinBin.
Kia ora from New Zealand. Mike and Lori. Thanks for this update. Push hard for the colour change. You guys are the customer, and if the customer is not satisfied, then they should fix it. The colours do not match. Pleased you are safe and well. I was concerned for your well being when I found out about the fires. Really looking forward to your next vid. It's getting close to finished and you should be so proud of what you have achieved so far. No compromise. Stay safe.
That harness is a great idea, my original caught fire a number of times.
Doms like throwing Robert under the bus there. That’s not cool.
Said the same
Hi Mike, Lori, & beautiful, adorable Lady Kona😳🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️!! How are you guys doing?? My friends & I love watching all the progress being made bringing Kona closer to completion. You all there at the shop are teaching us how all the equipment works in the bus, & you’re very knowledgeable & brilliant. It’s such a pleasure hanging out with you all, and seeing what everyone is up to in the shop each week. Coming here feels like coming home. We all love you guys so much! Lady Kona, huge hugs!! I’m wondering if there’s a toy of Kona that the shop can mass produce & sell. I’d definitely buy a few…
I'm a kind of simple animal and fairly easy to please. To my eyes, the color doesn't look startlingly different. With my cars, as long as the paint is good, I find that I am rarely ever (OK, never) spending any time sitting and staring at the car and looking at the color and when I am driving, which used to be 2K-3K miles a month, from where I sat in the car, I really couldn't even see the color. The color on your van looks great to me.
If I was Dominico I would spray it over in Canary Yellow and call it a Tweety
When I worry about wars, inflation, politics and the day of tomorrow I watch your videos and realize there’s another reality out there which makes me happy.
Love the wiring, so much better than the original. With all the money and hours you have invested in Kona, you are 100% right to not settle for anything less than exactly what you want.
Thank you and exactly :)
Seriously I like the color now. Repainting is a crap shoot. Hopefully one day you can take it back to Hawaii.
I've been nervous since the last episode, such a cliffhanger!!
I hope Robert doesn't kick them out as a bunch of unpleaing hippies
I'm watching as I type this. What will happen?
Mike, it's very inspiring to see how far your mechanical and technical skills have come over the duration of this project! Both you and Lori as champs! But as regards the paint match, Robert was quite clear before Dom painted it, that the color wasn't right. Regardless of who was at fault, the responsibility is with the shop to look after it, without any further charge to you two.
agree!
No way I would repaint what you have. It’s a perfect paint job and that is hard to find these days. Put it together and start enjoying it before you burn out on it. You will get used to the color and you will love all the complements you get, everywhere you go.
The blue is amazing just get your bus on the road enjoy it , when it's all fitted out you will not bother with it
Kona looks fantastic, but let's hope it gets the colour you deserve in the first place, Dom has done an outstanding spray job, it will all work out
Thank you!
I understand the frustration but to my eyes I really prefer the way it looks now. It looks lighter and a bit more vintage. The original blue is fine but it will be a it too contrasty witth the white in my opinion. Remember, that you are looking at sample, not the full paint of the VW. Cheers and good luck for the decision.
same here
Me too! 🤭
I like the way it is now..
I like it the way it is also..
anyways all of this is old, what happened already happend, if he changed the colour we'll see it nextly
Love that colour.....it is unique to you!
Now I've got to sit down with a cup of coffee 😂
Well you a step closer. Hopefully the blue will match and you will be happy with it. No more mistakes . Bring on 66 episode
According to the timestamp... this video was recorded 29 months ago!! It would be cool to know where you are today.... is Kona finished??
It is really hard to wait the suspense for us is a lot. I can't imagine what mic went through...
From what I understand this bus was done and gone over a year ago. I wonder if these people understand how lucky they are to have Roberts shop to work in. I built my bus myself laying on the ground. Did all my own work including the paint.
Kona is looking amazing, progress you have made is outstanding. Its like Dom said if you aint happy say something he is doing the right thing to let you know that. Keep it up your energy is giving me the drive to work on my Notchback.
Thanks 👍
Can't wait to see the bus complete!
Nice job! Note, using a little bit of baby powder or it's equivalent works great for pulling wires through it's casings. Man,, I love that color! Looks great!!👍😎
Looks amazing as it is. Keep moving forward!
Thanks for sharing your ride. ♥️👍🏼
Fantastic colour choice.
Keep it up; you gotta get it right the way you want it!👍
Lori you are a special girl . Mic just know she's one of a kind . Love you two .
Nice and perfect, sure his place is at the museum
Watching from the Philippines bro🇵🇭
Apir
Single stage solid it is tinted clearcoat..you can paint clearcoat over single stage
We do most of our kombi restos in single stage, just like the factory. The colours are so much better than clear over base. Will last a lifetime if polished once a year.
correct
Hi dear Mic and Lori, So wonderfull to see the wiring is getting alolng . U real understand your feelings about the bleu on KONA. What I DO NOT understand is this. You paid for the color you both choose. Now that he collor is sprayed you are not satisfied. This means that the person who has the paint mixed has made a mistake. And not as he says: "But there still had to be varnish". I think you just asked for Single Stage Paint. And if the color had just been good, he came out so lightly. I think that those who made the mistake must replace it free of charge with the right paint why you asked. I myself am a sprayer of my profession, this was not necessary. You are two hunters who put each dollar in the car. Although I have to say I am really in love with that beautiful car of yours. Mic. Grab as much work as possible that you can do yourself. You are a handy guy who sometimes does not dare to tackle things with the result if you do it yourself. I was brought up in the Netherlands with by doing yourself, you only become wiser. This way it is good of you that you tackle the ELECRTRA yourself. The more you do yourself, that also saves costs. Go to a paint shop and ask if they can make the color .... and then put the voucher with your sprayer. I have to say, he can spray well, but tackling this error is not going so well. If I am wrong you can safely say it. I just want you to get along a bit for you. Living in a bus so many months is no fun. My hat off for Robert. That man really kept a word and helps Julie where he can, while he also has to run a case. He's really a hero. I really started to love you a bit. On you both. You work hard and then also mount those videos ..... I'll give it to you. The French say Chappau, and we say. VERY WELL DONE. I give everyone the warm greetings, and a big hug for you. My heroes.
Buddy just love the the thought that you are getting so close to finish in this video looks great I’ve been thinking maybe a beetle but haven’t come across one yet that I like yet
you were there watching the guy paint the van and you’re not happy with the color. It looks good to me.
Soak that plastic light diffuser over night in hydrogen peroxide and it will remove a lot of the yellowing. Add some UV light to the process for even better results
Thanks for the tip! Will check it out
Let the color mismatch slide. You'll else be lawyering up quickly and all the fun in this project will be gone in an instant. Just breeeeathe
I think the blue looks great! Its going to change colour in differing light conditions anyway.
Mitch, I know this probably is two years later after shooting this video but the battery wire lug you are using is kinda crap. I would recommend a post for your battery and just having a copper lug on the end of your wire that goes over the post for easy disconnects. You then can have a nut or wing nut holding it down to make it super secure along with your other items that need to be connected to your battery.
I know you want your perfect colour, but I love baby blue for this era of bus. My favourite is a baby blue frog eyed sprite. I hope it comes out as you want it, after so much time and effort.
You da man! Keep up the good work!
Appreciate it!
in a day in the far distance of time the Bus will get finished....!
been following you from the start. looks great and i know you are going to get it right. keep putting in the hrs.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Penge kis busz lesz!😊
Great video. Good to see that you are making good progress on the build!
Thank you !
Cool, a wiring episode 👏👏
Dont give up .. you are almost there .. CHEERS and best of luck to you both ❤️👍from St Eustache Québec Canada
Thank you so much!
I have an idea for your struggle getting the brake cables through the tubes. Get some high strength braided fishing line and put a small piece of paper on the end. Start the line in a tube then suck it through using a vacume.
hey didnt know if you checked yet but when you rotated your brakes around in the back but the wheel cyls are upside down and when you go to bleed out your system you will never get the air out
Великолепная работа, очень правильный подход к постройке автомобиля, Импалы тоже потрясающие)
I LOVE THE COLOR... Saludos de Argentina ...❤
Miren pata atrás y vean a donde llegaron ...hermoso trabajo .. que un color no frustre todo lo hecho
For once, the UA-cam algorithm recommended some great content! Thank you for sharing!
Awesome to hear! :) Thank you
When I restored, my first beetle, the colour choice was the single hardest decision to make. Everything else was procedural: fix this, replace that, Install, etc. no one has an opinion on a headlight assembly, but everyone has an opinion on a colour. You need the colour that hits you right in the gut, and in your case, only one particular shade of blue will do. I get it.
You should label the extra wire loop for the 3rd brake light, you never know how far down the line someone might want to work on this, imagine 3 or 4 owners later. :)
Man, the color changes over time and with exposure to the sun... it will lose its striking blue tone and become a not so intense blue. It will look beautiful day after day
I am sorry Marco. But if you do not get what you ordered you have the right to complain
@Bertdevries4865 exactly ! ;)
Just beautiful.
Thank you very much!
Color look good just fit all item it will look more outstanding
What a fiasco with the color, I would have gone with a bright yellow, easy peasy
Awesome ! 😊
With goal of choosing the color and provided paint card. Its a mistake on Doms part to get it right. It will bother you years after leaving southern California that the paint didn't come out right. 2 stage and single stage are 2 different processes. So fix it now and be happy.
Yo Dude that’s a total dick move recording Homeboy and y’all talking trash about Robert . Not cool . That Robert dude has helped y’all a lot , just letting y’all wonder around his place of business and live there alone . Come on Bro . 😠
Absolutly wright!!! They are loosing it here!!!
Here en Chile we say: "Estan poniendo mucho calor!!" I hope you won't get into a serious argument with Robert over this after all the help you guys got from him. You are for a long time living on his terrain and using a lot of the shop's tools which would cost you a fortune if you would have to buy it yourselves. Already variius persons where 'send' to you to give their opinion, letting you know 'what' s wrong!?? Don't let the event go to waste by beiing stubborn and unwilling to compromise over such minor detail. You will have to see the endresult and the bus as a whole and completed! Now it looks you are just trying to get to prove you are in the right!
I can almost bet there is stuff behind the scene we aren't seeing.
That is way too cool!
27.03min the light cover you should sand it with 600 wet and spray clear coat paint 2k
Yay another episode!
IKR😁😁😁🥰🥰🥰
Nice job
Combe top das galáxias Enos krekauto funilaria...Brasil 😮
yeaaaaah 🤩 thanks cheers from Paris 😛
Que frustración, el color es muy claro 💧pero para todo eso tiene solución. Animo... 😃 espero con ansias el próximo capítulo 🙂 exitos.
Old friend it has been many moons, the trail has carried you well, but can you check on the rear break I think the plate or dust cover is to be inverted not the hole thing? and dont get me wrong but grease in the bearing always they call it packing the bearing, hope you are ok with this, great color reminds me of the ancestors, may they guide your way.
Here ya go
Meu deus outro vês pintar 😮😮 cores diferentes
I would keep the color.
I can see where that suspension on the Impala would come in really handy with speed humps or off roading! Ha!
Saludos de Mexico Mic
You have paid for certain outcome for the paintjob.
They should do it as many times as it needs to be the result you initially paid for.
When they were doing color matching and trying to speak their way out of it it raised red flags on me.
I hope you get to the result you wanted. That washed out blue is cool looking for sure but it was not the goal so I understand the frustration.
All the best going forward!!
Thank you so much and your comment is spot on
failure to lubricate the star wheel brake shoe adjusters will cause problems later on !
what kind of problem? Shop didn't tell me to grease it... thanks
Never asked how you guys did in the fires. Our place in Napili is fine but we still haven’t heard from some friend in Old Town…
Yeah finally
I know!! I’ve been waiting for this👍👍!!
Salut ! une frustration a cause de la couleur bleu bébé ? blue baby 🤣 blues-green light😉

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good almost done bro.❤
So close!
@@MicBergsma whats up bro.🤙 so are u set up all glass window or else yet ? Have u rebuild freshly engine yet, ?
Its your bus but I still like the color. I picked colors offered by the paint company for mine
.../
Approaching the final stretch of assembly and finishing, now the decisions have to be well defined, there is no more time for mistakes, time is money, I hope that the choice of the shade of blue is final so as not to waste any more time and speed up to the end. Even though it's finished and you're probably already on the road with your KONA, we're already in Sep/2023 and the videos are still in Jan/2022
👍❤
Isn't this blue a common color on Brazilian buses?
🤙🏻🤙🏻
👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Take the yellow out of that dome lens by soaking it for 6 hrs in hydrogen peroxide and apply a black light outside the container. Shield the whole thing. Remove the dome lens, rinse with water. Lots of how-to video on YT.
Thanks for the tip! Will check it out
✌️🤙
Color is what is first seen,so yes u have to be satisfied
Yep!
👍
A few videos bevor, Dom says it is no problem I make the right color, after you have said, it is not the right color. It was in one of the first videos with dom...
sorry for my bad inglish!
Hello Friends. Grettings from Austria.
Wy Say in America E-Brake (Emergency Brake)?? I dont Understand. Thats is the Parking Brake.
I Love your Content and i Happy to see Kona come`s Back to the road. btw: Videos over 1 Year old. Kona is finished?
I kinda dig the outside blue. But I am not the one restoring this bus, so its irrelevant what I think.
Hope you find a solution for it.
Hey, if that paint is all you have to worry about in life you are not doing so bad.
Sleepless nights for a week!!!
Mick dont forget to grease the wheel bearing
what time stamp in the video are you referring to ?
