Many people believe that the only way to identify giftedness is by calculating IQ test scores. This is not the case. Giftedness isn't about how much you know ... it's about how your mind works differently than everyone else's. These ten behaviors illustrate some of the unique ways the gifted brain works. How many do you have?
    00:00 Intro
    00:43 Giftedness explained
03:26 You're the first to laugh
04:16 You can read micro expressions
05:10 You watch videos on 1.5x speed
05:46 You turn off your music to read street signs
06:33 When you're reading, you can't hear people speak to you
07:09 You have a "thing" that you know inside and out
07:55 It's not your only "thing"
    08:32 You hate injustice
09:33 You hate being interrupted when you're thinking deeply
10:37 You get a serotonin boost from finding answers

It's like a gifted brain has a need to be active. Boredom is a major issue.

And if you don’t put it to something good…..it’ll find all kinds of wild problems to solve all on its own

6:43 it’s absolutely comical my inability to pay attention to someone talking while I’m playing a video game. People say I become a completely different person when I’m gaming and it shocks them how deeply and intensely focused I become, haha

I think for #10 it may also count to bask in the enjoyment of others' brainy solutions. When I try a new tool or technique, and it works, I can say, "This is BRILLIANT!! OUTSTANDING! Who did this? I wanna shake their hand!" For example, I love using those vacuum suction storage bags, where everything shrinks way down... I always feel a sense of satisfaction, like, "A-ha! I win! Take that, carry-on baggage rules!"

Number 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have seriously talked to my wife about having a cabin or separate little work room detached from our house for this reason.

      I think you'd like a number 9 and a number 9 large :p

Im all of them except number 5. I cant even imagine that happening 😊. Thanks for the playback speed advice. Slow videos drive me nuts. Understanding things quickly: i can do this, but not every time. For example, im still trying to get my head round a lot of quantum physics, regardless of how many quantum physics for dummies i read. Is this normal for gifted people?

Absolutely. One common trait of gifted folks is asynchronous development, where we develop different skills at different rates. And also, we each have our own areas of expertise -- we'll learn new concepts in "our" areas quickly, and may learn concepts in other areas more slowly. I talk about this in my video about misconceptions of gifted people if you want to hear more :) ua-cam.com/video/Hb-TQ6N-1Es/v-deo.html

A friend of mine has been trying to tell me that I'm Gifted for months and I have been telling her she's crazy... not feeling like she's so crazy now. Nine of these points were 100% accurate to my life.

  • @andrewwatts1997

Pretty much all 10 points. Some not to be proud of.... Luckily I don't get mad mad when someone interrupts me when i'm in my " I'm finally starting to understand this " phase.
Due too allot of childhood trauma my " giftedness " got misinterpreted as autism. And ehh... it hasn't helped me much. I'm only finding out now that it's something else. At 32 years old.... what a waste.

Do you consider what you describes in this video as being on the spectrum?

    • @ThriveMindGiftedCoaching
      @ThriveMindGiftedCoaching  3 місяці тому +3

Not necessarily. Some gifted people are on the spectrum, and some people on the spectrum are gifted, but they're not exactly the same thing. "On the spectrum" generally refers to autism. Both giftedness and autism are a neurodivergence, but in different ways. People with both are often referred to as twice exceptional, or 2E.
