Here's the Second Chapter of my Elephant Reef story, in which I describe how I excavated this amazingly rich gold-in-quartz reef, processing the ore by spreading it out and detecting it carefully. I did save all the ore from this enrichment, and crushed and sluiced it a few years later (I got a few ounces out of it, the metal detecter had found most of the Au). I think the luxury over there in wa is the shallow ground and it mostly untouched, here in vic, there is overburden over most of thr ground and in a lot of spots the gold is too deep to be detectable in virgin ground, would live to get over to WA at some stage

The stuff that dreams are made of mate I hope you find another reef like this, this year as the price of gold has boomed recently. Did you see that new find down in Victoria over 200 ounces or 2.16 kilograms worth $240,000 and that was found by a newbie with a $1200 dollar detector wahoo good on him. I still believe that there is still some Huge gold Nuggets or boulders hidden down here in Oz you got to think positively about it..........

@@prospecting101 I went to headphones to watch. How long ago was your wonderful discovery? I have an SDC 2300 and a GPX4500 do you still think they are usefull given other detectors in the market?
Yes , just imagine how long it took and what force would move that nugget 800 meters from it's original source . Possibly eons in time , It's beyond comprehension alright . Just think there's lots of others still out there just waiting to be found .

be nice to see a geology map, if there isone of the area of the reef, see how far the contact zone between the granite and greensnds go, must be moregoldin the area? may be a map of the magnetics too,may be?

I've been a big fan your videos have absolutely 💯 % inspired me and given me so much knowledge.
Question for you :) I found a hidden spot up in the mountains on government ground where a multi-billion dollar company was sampling with high pressure water drilling /
Blasting gold up with water.
I made friends with the geologist (he was privately hired) separate from thr company he told me that spot was going to make the company millions.
If they are drilling down super deep and having to blast up the gold with water, in your experience would it be worth it to try and detect all around that spot (they only claimed a small area) would there be a possibility to find coarse good nuggets or if the main reef and the lode are super deep it's unlikely?
This is in the U.S.A.
G'Day Drake, thanks for your comment M8 ... And the visual! WOW, sounds like there is a lot of alluvial in that location, I would be checking maps, and on the ground, for ancient Paleochannels. You say the mining company didn't lease much area, I'm not familiar with US mining law but I can tell you that at the Honeypot Gold Mine we found, we got a 25 ounce specimen that was laden with gold ... 1.8 kilometres away from the reef ... In the modern day creek! There was heaps of gold found n all directions from the reef, in ancient drainage. So never discount how far gold travels in geo-time ... Cheers ...

I just wonder how different the geography ( and the depth of the gold ) * - would affect my ability to find actual nuggets 1 or 2 feet below the surface,
The geologist told me the gold was pretty deep hence them drilling and blasting with water
I guess I'll never know unless I grid the entire area around it like a bloodhound, just figured maybe you'd have an idea from your experience if it's worth it based on the knowledge of the gold being deep.
I just have to ask...how are the flies your friends?

Because even though they love us, we don't love them back ... Right? You know, in the hot months, the sun comes up at like 5am ... And I absolutely hate that first fly that zaps my face when I poke my head out of my swag ... It'll ruin the start to the day! So I always have a fly net fitted before I enter into their world ... How about finding the source in an area that the miners already ripped up pretty good placer mining any tips
G'Day BB, many thanks for your comment ... Hey, I think the answer to your query lies ... In your handle! The bedrock Mate!! All the clues lie on, or just off the bedrock, can you get down to it? Even if the ground has been disturbed, the gold come from the regolith .. So you might have to chip samples and crush them to read the ground ... Good luck! Cheers ...
@@prospecting101 got a few nice specimens over the years 2 and 3 oz specimens I know the source is close bedrock is really deep in most places I'm here in Northern California they won't give me the go-ahead to use equipment... No water to speak of but there's not much fine gold at least that I can find
