- Over the past few years I've done a lot of gold sniping extracting gold nuggets from the cracks and crevices of the rivers bedrock, it's always been my favourite way to search for gold.
One thing I've neglected however is the the gold deposits that are buried in the banks of the rivers or just under the water line to shallow to access with a mask and snorkel.
On my last adventure I sniped the upper reaches of a river worked by the old timers over 180 years ago. The effort getting into the area was brutal especially this time of year when the weather is much much cooler.
The lower reaches of the river are much more accessible and prospectors have done very well in more recent times. My plan is to spend a few days in the lower reaches of the river camped up using my metal detectors to see if I can find some of that gold still hiding in the banks of the rivers bend.

Levi... Thank You again for another fantastic "went there, did that" video. Always effort, sacrifice, pain. Believe me, after 20 years of gold prospecting, claim owning, small scale mining.....IF it was easy, everybody would be doing it. AND, they're not. Ha. :) Just got back from a California visit helping my 87 year old Mom and twin sister with their house, cars, and hauling, splitting and stacking 4 cords of very nice Oak and Cedar Firewood for them for this coming winter. But, I got out 5 part days on the NF American River to blow off some steam, get away, have my kind of "Hard Fun". Mostly sluiced a lot of low grade auriferous gravels. Spent 1 day dedicated to metal detecting with my Gold Bug Pro detector. These open to the public areas have been so HAMMERED over the years, even with the recent snow melt flooding, nothing BUT lead bullets, bullet fragments, lead lure bodies, old rusty square nails, rusty iron, pull tans, etc. Ugh. Not even one little picker. So, good for you on finding what you did. I did better shoveling endless shovel loads of gravel thru my Le Trap sluice. Got a decent 4 grams of very nice, flaky, yellow flood gold. Would have done the Walter Houston miner's happy dance to find what you did. :) PLZ, keep your videos coming. Love the channel brother. When you slipped it brought back a nightmare fall I had a couple weeks ago while filming. The solo game as you know can remind you quickly when you slip. Be safe out there and I gotta say your videos are the ones my girlfriend and I enjoy the most on UA-cam.

Another great video. Always like all the little things you show that can happen any given tiem like a stick to the face or a trip on something where you can take a fall. Had a good laugh too when you forgot your snuffer bottle and had to use a spoon, That was great. I dont know how many times I have told myself to bring something and wished I did. Just tells me those survival skills for finding the gold are entacked. Haha. Always amazing to see how gold is to find and the great lengths we will go to find it. Guess it will always have its place in our hearts.

What an exciting trip ,great times,you'll not forget that
I thought when you went into the headwaters on the last video that the quartz blows you walked over just before you got to the creek you started in looked worth detecting. Then when you found the coarse gold in the top part of the creek, that was definitely a great spot to detect. Easy enough to get to without having to fight all that scrub either.

First back after the vid…SWEEEET a detecting video. Bummer yes always bring your snuffer but I reckon you figured that out as well as other things you need like tweezers or a YAVI/yabi/ pump (you could build one) to suck up those nuggets and clean crevices it will greatly speed things up great nuggets you found for sure and I was going to say looking forward to day 2 but it appears you’ll be lucky to get out alive and in one piece…😳 I’m awaiting the next episode you left me hanging on the edge of my seat… thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼

Don't discount the hot rocks like the one that blanked out the detector and you kicked without first viewing them even better break in two and detect each piece. You will throw away ounces and possibly specimens that hold the vital keys to the source.

Looks like harder work than sniping (at least for my back!) but I do dream of a day when you and I can snipe together on one of your secret honeyholes. and get some good gold. You and I have a lot in common. the adventurers spirit and the darkness that lies within that nature holds the key to digging out. My grandfather found a lot gold in his life but he was into the chase and got ripped off by many people.He was a gold man, adventurer, hunter and ladies man. I wish I'd known him better.
