Nice video. I owned a few TS60s in my day. In the late ‘70s a fellow TS60 and I would head off with planes full for the elusive breakfast, and or $100 hamburger. We are talking about a time when you could fill up an Aerostar, give the FBO a $100 bill and get change back. We were also airshow pilots with a pair of S-2Bs. So formation takeoffs were common for us. We enjoyed the low pass over the runway followed by the formation landing and taxi in. Yeah… those were the good old days.😊

Awesome. We flew our Aerostars Thursday night in formation from Lubbock, Texas to Lake Charles, Louisiana.

    Very cool!
I’ve always thought the Aerostar was a terrific looking airplane.

Thanks for another great video Eric! Hoping to get some air to air pics tomorrow when I take a friend to pick up his airplane from the avionics shop! I love flying formation, and will be a hoot to finally get to do it in the Aerostar!

At 10:36 I would not have touched the flap lever that close to the ground, if it somehow when past center to up you would have been in a mell of a hess!. Nice video as usual from you. Tim N90509

Flap handle should have been put back to neutral a bit earlier when I selected full flaps. Good observation.

What is better than Aerostar 1111 1 ?
    Another one!
I am not a pilot but love the sound of those twin Lycoming! Thank you for not playing music over those awesome sounding Lycoming engines.

Love the video. Around 10:30 on short final you retracted some flaps for landing. I've never flown an Aerostar to know if that is common practice in type, or saying that it's a wrong procedure but was taught to not change configuration on short final like that. Mind explaining your thought process, would love to learn something.

The flaps on the Aerostar are hydraulic. There are three positions with the selector. Up neutral and down. There is a position indicator that tells you where the flaps are set. 10, 20, 30 and down 45 degrees. There is no preselect. Normal procedure is once the flaps are where you want them, you put the flap handle back to neutral or off. What you perceived as putting the flaps up was actually putting the flap control in the off or neutral position.

@@AerostarPilot I went back, rewatched and zoomed in and see now. That is an interesting system on the Aerostar. I'm surprised there are no preselect notches like in most airplanes. I saw it and it made me think like huh why is he retracting flaps on short final, that does not seem smart but nope, I just did not know the system. Thank you for teaching me something today!

Partner not flying it at all and didnt make sense for him to keep it. I will have access to a couple other Aerostars for my use.

Please don't learn formation by being lead, this is in so many ways the WRONG way to learn and promoting this on youtube makes my skin crawl. Yours truly, pilot with a FAA endorsed formation card.

I agree. This mission was not really about flying formation but to get some photographs.
