I noticed that the word Grand was capitalized and after checking the coppermind it said that the Grand are a species on Sel, so I assume that the compass points towards the bodies of Devotion and Dominion. and it made sense to me since their bodies being shoved into the cognitive realm would definitely have some kind of pull to them since they are massive amounts of investiture.
I think you might be on to something. It could be pointing to either the Expanse of the Densities (which likely leads to Sel) or the Expanse of the Broken Sky (which Brandon hasn't confirmed where that one leads to). I think that the Grand in Grand Knell might just be being used as an adjective rather than talking about the Grands on Sel though. I could be wrong of course, but they just seem to be politicians for the most part as far as we know.
The Grand Knell may be the Dor considering it is the largest source of investiture we know of and fits the description. If so this would mean the compass was pointing to the left toward the expanse of the densities which we are pretty sure is Sel Alternatively, if it is Honor, then the compass might be pointing to the right since that's where Stormseat is (which would lend more credence to the theory that Honor's death is what shattered the shattered plains)
The strange thing about the bead was that she found the one she needed so easily, because she can tap or manipulate Fortune. There’s nothing special about the bead, I think.
I forget where, but Sanderson mentioned that a Nahel bond causes the spren to fill in cracks in the spirit web and over time they become sort of synchronized. I think what is happening is that Kaladin and Syl are becoming a composite soul or something to that effect. Not exactly a single entity, but so closely woven together that you can't really tell where one begins and the other ends
The epigraph at the beginning of Chapter 10 helps establish that important events are ~decisions~, not actions. Foreshadowing for the contest of champions?
I really enjoyed seeing the 48 degree angle overlaid on the map, though wouldnt be at all surprised to one day learn Rosharans have some other, different, number of degrees in a circle, like 100, or 400, etc.
I dnt think so. Sanderson has said in his lecture that he doesn't like to change things that r universally known to us without proper context and appropriate reasons. So I don't think different numbers of degrees in a circle just to be different is what he will do. But never trust Sanderson in this, so who know.
I love sanderson but something about this book feels off. Whenever I’m reading shallan I feel like I miss something every other line, and when I’m reading kaladin I’m caught between logically syalladin is fine, while emotionally I don’t like it, especially with the chull stuff going on.
With Shallan, I feel like Sanderson might just have a lot of stuff planned for her later in the book that he needs to set up early so he can get a good payoff (Mishram, Identity, Fortune, effects of multiple bonds, Radiant, her mother maybe). I imagine having the full book would negate it a bit, because you can just keep reading to see what Sanderson's on about, while currently we have to sit on the foreshadowing for weeks. It's also possible she might not be a primary viewpoint for a good chunk of the book so Brandon had to frontload her perspective-specific plot points.
I really likes that Adolin have added the skill too breath under the sea. I would assume this skill will improve later to full on water assaults with fabrics tied around the mouth
The baseline could potentially be Adonalsiums shattering. It seemed like there were too many capital letter for it to just be Honor. Also they found them in a storehouse in Uritrhiru and Honors splintering is a long drawn out process that may have only finished recently.
I thought it was interesting that shallan could soucast objects by holding their beads in shadesmar. That seems overpowered. Not that she knows what she is doing. Souldcasting something into a room, or Navani's vehicle seems useful in a tight spot.
@@Bzhydack The text suggests she would find the bead she wanted very fast. I theorize that she was soulcasting the object which it's bead she was holding first, then joining the beads to form that shape. Think about it, the second bead she randomly finds has the shape of Navani's flying carriage. What is the likelihood of someone finding such thing in the middle of the nowhere.
@@karohethis is an excellent theory. Shallan is essentially becoming a ludicrously broken Forger. Instead of having to convince the soul it's real because it seems plausible due to extensive study and ages spent carving something, she can convince the soul to change in any way that might work, including subconsciously with something like "help me live."
@@karohe Jasnah was also able to find Kholinar Castle bead relativly fast. Beads are afiliated with proper mindset - we are talking about Cognitive Realm here, reality is influenced by how people think. And here Shalan knew exactly what she was needet.
It points too high. If it points to the right, it points toward the Expanse of The Broken Sky. If it points to the left, it points toward the Expanse of The Densities. I've seen people speculate that it's pointing toward where Adonolsium was shattered, and I'm starting to think that's pretty likely.

I really wanted Adolin to make the connection to Sureblood, but I guess that's too much to ask for our favorite himbo.
He is a min/max Charisma and Strength character his dump stats were clearly Intelligence and Wisdom lol
A fantasy hero becoming a therapist is something I could have never predicted.
I started the chapter hopping for Kaladin happy vibes and ended it with an unwanted spren anatomy lesson

One thing that is bothering me is that there has been no dialog between Shallan and Pattern in the chapters for the past 3 weeks (Ch 5-11).
The bead was Shallan manipulating fortune imo. 🤔
Syl has always being mischievous, loved her messing with the mean Librarian. 😂

I wonder what other "forbidden" skills the new radiants can manifest.
Especially if these are closer to the “surgebindings” that destroyed Ashyn
"WHAT DO WE DO!" Shallan
*Adolin hits it with sword*
It was very effective
Adolin is just the best lol

Syladin shippers getting so much I feel like it’s not actually going to happen

I don't necessarily think this is true, just throwing it out as a what if: Syl is the one writing Knights of Wind and Truth
Exactly my thoughts. Her learning to write must have signifigance.
Love your videos

Syladin lives!

I thought it was obvious that Honour was shattered at the centre of the shattered plains, no?

She was not soulcasting, she was joining beads into shape she desieted. We saw other people do this - Jasnah, Vatah.

I’ve heard the theory before that honors death shattered the shattered plains so if you expanded the map could the 48 degree angle point there?

If syladin happens I'm out for the rest of the series.
Good riddance! Syladin rocks!
Why is he doing this Syl/Kaladin shit? It’s disgusting and not what I want to read….seems like a 13 year old fan fiction…..
