Sherlock Holmes telling Sherlock Holmes stories. Neat.
❤❤
Yeah. His voice makes you feel like you’re really in the case.
Cumberbatch's rendition of these classic Holmes tales is a perfect blend of his iconic voice and the intriguing mysteries of Conan Doyle. It's a real treat to hear such a talented actor bring these stories to life. Thank you!
Not classic these were written recently by a different author
They did do a decent job of it though
@@lekoro1 Thanks for that. I'd read all the Sherlock books when I was a young girl, I thought my memory was failing me, I was thinking, "I don't remember that mystery". That explains it.
These stories are not by A.C. Doyle. It's announced at the beginning.
Magpie audio is way better! Look them up.
These audiobooks helped me a lot to expand my knowledge of the english language, I can almost fool people into thinking it's my native language now
Well done! It's a challenge to learn for speakers of other languages. ❤️ 😊 🌿
I'm often relieved that English is my mother tongue. 😅
I enjoy learning other languages myself.
English with a capital letter...like French or German.
Space after "..." or rather just write correctly with a comma.
I'm native english speaker and I talk it good.
I speek 7 langages and english the very good
I wish there would be one random penguin word for cumberbatch to read aloud 😂 amazing can’t wait to knit and listen to this
The man has one nemesis and it's the word "penguin" - or "pengwing"
If only there was an previously undiscovered Holmes story called The Case Of The Purloined Porcelain Penguin 😮
it will be like this: Noot noot noot.....noot...noot noot / noot nnnnooooootttt 😁😁🤣🤣
It’s been years now, and my wife and I have never said that word correctly since😄
Well what did you end up knitting? 😮
Whatever Benedict is reading, listening is narcotic.
I gotta say. I will listen to literally every Sherlock Holmes story by Benedict Cumberbatch and absolutely loved him as a modern version of Sherlock. However, Magpie Audio for me *is the standard*. I am a fan in all forms. I will watch, listen, and read it all.
Can't argue with that, thanks for listening!
I do agree, but, there can only be one modern Holmes. And his name is Jonny Lee Miller!
@@theobolt250 I genuinely had no idea this series even existed. I lived in Albania for most of the 2010s but I would thought I'd at least have heard of it.
100%, Greg Wagland is the gold standard of Sir Conan Doyle audiobook narration! I love both Cumberbatch and Miller, I refuse to compare them either to each other or Sir Doyle's original character. To me, they are 3 brilliantly distinct and separate characters. Gatiss' 'Sherlock' made the character much more an abrupt brilliant sociopath (which Doyle's character never was), and Miller's 'Holmes' was more withdrawn than aloof and did the job of Americanisation of the character which popularised to their audience more effectively than ever before. They are both vastly different from the original character, but they are brilliantly entertaining. I just can't compare them because they are so different from the original 'canon'.
@@lady_bexy That has me thinking of the idea of how someone would approach the idea of being Sherlock Holmes. Another actor that should be included in this is Hugh Laurie. Dr. House was yet another incarnation of Holmes.
I enjoy Sherlock Holmes stories especially when voiced by B. Cumberpatch. He immerses himself in to his rolls in whatever it is.
Then you can start learning English grammar😂
Absolute master of every UK dialect. Shaking my head.
Brilliant ! Benadryl Cumberbund would make even my shopping list sound awesome !!!
Astounding reading. Benedict's tone and cadence brought Sherlock into the this time. Thanks B.C.
Benedict Cumberbatch is a modern day Adonis with astonishing talent !
Oh, how I wish he were in many, many movies and TV series while he is yet in his prime.
💖
Written by him or a family member or a creepy fan.
The music is suspenseful, the story is thrilling, and Cumberbatch’s voice adds a hint of emphasis and more mystery to the story which makes sit on the edge of my bed! 🎉
I've listened to this for the third time and I just love it! Benedict is very good reader and does marvelous voices. I rank him 3rd, after Simon Stanhope and Greg Wagland. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
But none of them can do an American accent. May fool
Britishers, but never an American.
Stephen fry did an excellent reading of the complete works of Doyle
I am a die hard Baker Street Irregular, but, i don't hear Benedicts voice. Its been a few years since I heard his voice when he was playing Sherlock, ( modern day), but... im listening to it anyway, love any voices of Sherlock. 😊
It doesnt sound like him
Very enjoyable stories. I went to sleep to it last night and had to come back the next day and listen to it while I was wide awake, because I needed to hear what happened. That last one was a particularly wild ride!
I love Sherlock Holmes books and Benedict reads it so well. Thanks for the video, man. You deserve more subscribers.
You're welcome and thank you.
Couldn't disagree more, I think he is bloody awful, sorry!.
BC is my fave S Holmes story reader. I can get lost in the stories with this reader.
❤😊❤
I used to fall asleep with this book. Impossible now with commercials!
Hi thanks for watching/listening and your support, it's a shame to ruin your routine but nothing I can do. Fyi the channel is not monetised so it's not on me, just UA-cam doing UA-cam things - only way around it is UA-cam premium, which costs too much - there are free trials and offers for students etc.
@@justfreeaudiobooks thanks for explaining that you can't help it either. Too bad it is really impossible to listen for anyone. In the first story there were 6 or more adds, one 2.30 minutes long, before I turned it off. I found an old download on my computer 😀. So I say: good night!
@@vals.1908 That's a bargain, I think it's £11.99 a month in the UK, £6.99 for students
UA-cam premium? I fall asleep perfectly. Don't take your frustrations out on the wonderful creator. ❤
UA-cam premium is cheap. I pay 17 months. I think for the family, but it's like 10 bucks for just you &you get the music app free. I drive for a living, so I pay for it just so I can download & shut the screen off ( I don't need dot thinking I'm watching UA-cam while driving). It's cheaper than audible, and you get more for your money
Listening to a talented actor. Love it!
Fortunately there are no penguins in these Sherlock Holmes stories 😂
Finally someone said it! Pengwing, penglings, pangwang - and many more synonyms he has added! 😂😂😂 Totally loved those pronunciations!
More stories to come, like the
„The pickpocketing pengwing“.😉😆
Love his work! He is one of a kind when it comes to reading and acting!
Such wonderfully read stories!!
Wow, thank you so much for doing this. I'm not sure I can go to sleep. Because the stories are really interesting. And you wanna stay awake to hear them?😊
Nothing like yarns of the great detective Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson expressed by BC!!
Absolutely! Thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed it.
Beautifully read.
Very well read. A great talent.
I can listen to him forever
Frustrated by commercials? So was I until I found AD BLOCK FOR YOU TUBE. It's free download, I've had it for years!
Thanks for listening, that's cool. I can't recommend a specific ad blocker, never used one, but it's that or youtube premium I guess!
I have UA-cam premium and it’s the BEST THING EVER because not only do you never see an ad, creators actually get financially compensated for your views if they’re monetised! Also, you can download videos to listen when you have no internet (I download audiobooks for long walks), and you can turn your screen off while the video plays which saves endless amounts of battery power when you’re listening to a long book or podcast ^_^
Brilliantly done, never done better Mike. Excellent work young sir! 🏴
Excellent. Harrovians have by far the best voices for this material.
Just discovered it. I am so happy 😊
Nice. Thank you very much for sharing it. Please enjoy it as I did.
I didn’t know this existed!! I love this!!❤
Awesome, glad you found and enjoyed it!
Me too
His reading is mezmerising 💎🌹😘
Such a beautiful perfect English. Well pronounced. Totally different to US infected rubbish. Thank you so much. So much indeed.
This is a perfect example of the English language spoken . ❤
Excellent!
Glad you liked it, thanks for listening!
Keep it up John Taylor!
Brilliantly read. Thanks John (Australia)
Isn't it just, thanks for listening John!
Amazing! Please continue
Truly enjoyed these! Ta from Tampa!
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed!
Love his voice.
Oh.....thank You!
Christmas indeed comes Early this year! Love this!
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for listening.
Beautiful reading from Dr Strange..
Thanks for the book
Thanks for listening, you're welcome!
What a delight..👌🏼💥
Wonderful!
I didnt know this existed but im thrilled it does 🎉
Again thank you
This was a plesure to listen to. Beautiful English and brilliant reader or vice versa.
Thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed it!
Have you had success expanding your Familytree and find more relatives? :)
Stop everything!!!!!!
I am dreaming?? I better pinch myself!
Thanks Benedict Cumberbatch for this gift ❤❤❤
Beautifully done. Best of all, I fancy I can hear the echo of Jeremy Brett's voice now and again!
Oooh yes! Jeremy Brett was the Sherlock of my childhood! My father used to read the ACD stories to me, and we’d watch Brett’s Holmes on PBS!
Jenniferm - Ahhhh, me too! Wasn’t he a fabulous Sherlock? Love Benedict in anything, but Jeremy Brett WAS Sherlock to me, as David Suchet WAS Poirot. I was so upset when I heard about Jeremy’s death and read about his life. Such an edgy production for the time too, considering the drug use portrayal as per the books. Notwithstanding, Benedict is a fantastic and consummate actor too! Thanks for posting this, I appreciate it and am saving it for later!
love to hear some new ones.
Every time I see this thumbnail, I keep thinking it's the music video for "Danger! High Voltage."
Ty Doctor Strange, for reading this book!
I like Benedict Cumberbatch.
Thank you
Love this
Ben's got an impressive range. Damn, I'm afraid I've found myself in that swamp of fans.
enjoyed-- thx
“If I am remembered for nothing other than Sherlock Holmes, I shall consider my life a failure”
-Conan Doyle
I’ve been watching so many AI voice videos I can’t tell if this is AI or it’s really him 😅
I've had this in my audiobook library for years, it's the real thing 😁 it came out in the midst of the BBC series craze, around 2013 I think
@@krachnicka ah, good to know, thanks
This is really cool 😎
16 minutes in i gpta say this is GREAT!
This makes me happy
Would have made much more sense to have Martin Freeman as the reader since it s Watson's writing 😆
Indeed ! But you can grab the subtle changes in Benedict Cumberbatch's voice when he reads John's part. He's slower than while playing Sherlock Holmes. His voice sounds a little less deeper. Sometimes the lines sounds melodic, sometimes you can hear him smile as he talks, he's more prone to all of emotions in general as John Watson. As for voicing Sherlock, however, you can hear that he's lines sounds a little more succincts, logical like. Even when prone to emotions, he sound a little more cold, and he's voice shift to something a little deeper et sometimes quicker. I'm amazed at his voice acting and acting skills and quite obsessed with Sherlock Holmes ! Sorry for the long paragraph, I would have loved to hear Martin Freeman's voice as John too ! Have a nice day/night
Thank you!
You're welcome and thanks for listening!
BC is the best.😍😘
Very interesting 🤔
Thank you so much
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed!
I was surprised by the complaints about ads. They were there, yes, but not that bad, I thought.
Thanks for not complaining, glad you enjoyed!
@@justfreeaudiobooks 👍💖😎
I can't stop thinking about penguins...
Enough
You mean pengwings 😅
Benedict Cumberbatch 😍🤩
Thank you so much for posting these stories. One slight thing, could you list the names of them? Kind of frustrating if you’ve heard them before, and want to get the ones you haven’t heard before quickly.
Thanks for listening and your suggestion, good point, have updated the description!
Did the trick for me think I got to second paragraph then shooting out z's cheers. If it was the Cumber not AI as someone suggested then bravo.
why are you sleeping to Sherlock stories?? Their great literature not sleep aids
Yes Cumberbatch read these for a BBC special :) they’re not the original Sherlock stories bug some modern fan-written ones if I recall correctly
@@EthanJohn1986 I find listening to any story if well read a great sleep remedy, sorry if you don't approve.
Cumberbatch is terrific but the writing leaves a lot to be desired. It sounds nothing like Doyle’s Holmes in diction nor structure. It’s grey and too modern. Doyle’s prose has more tension in it.
A fair assessment, still enjoyable I hope, thanks for listening.
Sign out of your UA-cam account before listening. Amazing how many fewer ads you get when you're off the algorithm.
Too bad the book didnt have any pengwings
OK, now I need Sherlock Holmes read by Martin Freeman too 🥲
Today,ballistic forensic science is a thing✅🔬🧬🧪
Audible hopes you have enjoyed this UA-cam video.
Me encanta, lo amo! Lástima que no entiendo nada
The actor of Sherlock narrating as the character of Watson got me confused for a moment
I put this on for sleep aid but I got too invested lol
Starting 4:31
These are so awesome and so well performed.
Spoilers for anyone who hasn't listened to all of them.
I have a question about the 2nd story, if the doors of the train were locked, how did the thieves get inside to move the guard from coach 14 to coach 13? Unless they gave Mr. Masterson a key to the train but I feel like that would be weird for the railroad company to just hand out a key to the train.
And also a question about the last story. How did Mr. Weeks get Jack's gun? I guess it doesn't really matter but it just seems weird to me to bring up as a detail, unless Beth was mistaken as to it being Jack's gun.
Regardless the stories are superb!
Yes I really wanna know about the gun too!!
I don't listen to any audiobooks with commercials! Period...
Thanks for giving it a try, your rule is a logical one.
So you’re willing to pay for art directly instead so artists can be paid for their work?
Oh, the magic of ad blocking has eluded you?
This John Taylor does such an excellent job writing new Sherlock Holmes stories in the style of the original author (Arthur Conan Doyle) that everyone in the comments thinks they're classics haha 😂 Well played, sir
*_This_* is Benedict Cumberbatch??
How did he get jacks weapon before trying to kill him on the train?🤨
Who is schlerenklick timberfetch?
As long as he doesn’t have to say, “penguin,” this should be fine.
Magic
How did you get Sherlock to do this
Did Sherlock ever investigate a penguin kidnapper? I want to hear Benedict read it.
The American in the second story gives himself away by saying: "4 or 5 millions." Americans never say millions in that context.
Or SHEDULE for Schedule. Cumberbatch needed some notes there…
Get a life .
I need the script in pdf
How did weeks get hold of Jack's gun that his father then hid away ?
Mr. Masterson sounds like Chris Farley lol.
