- A high school graduation celebration turned into a crime scene where three people were shot - including an 80-year-old grandmother who died.
Augustine Greenwood, 80, was a mother of six and a grandmother of 15 children. Her family told our partners at The Times-Picayune | NOLA.com that she was a sweet, loving person.
"Please people stop the violence!! A message to the young ladies that started all of this: Today you took my world away from me and my family, all you had to do was walk away. It was graduation for my son, my mom was so happy to see her youngest grandchild graduate. You have ruined my son and families world, all you had to do was walk away,” Greenwood’s daughter shared on social media.

The irony in that is she lived to see the end of that graduation. Death is hard especially someone is closer to a spouse a parent and a child. God does not see death the way we do. It's going to happen to everyone who is born. I praise God for her 80 years I know it will be hard for their family but she fulfilled her purpose. The enemy's only here to kill steal and destroy but God gives life and he gives it more abundantly through his son Jesus Christ. I hope the family realize that she had Abundant Life and she will continue to have it in the name of the son of the most high God. My condolences to the family.

I just attended my granddaughter 's graduation on May 28th of this year , and I was praying for a peaceful day and ceremony for all the graduates and their families . The violence has got too stop in the Name Of Jesus !

This is so sad. I can’t imagine what I would’ve felt if my grandmother died at my graduation. Our community has got to change. We cannot continue like this. God and nuclear family is so important. We can change by raising godly children who are respectful and caring. This makes my heart so sad.
I went to a graduation this past weekend. And I have never seen a graduation go so quickly. Started at 1, we were done before 3. And they quickly told us to get off the property.

Every street dude from east to west knows the rules, the police job is catch criminals and your job is not to get caught. Mass shootings are deliberately done by a mentally ill individual but this grandmother who had probably seen so much in her 80 years of life and had so much left to share with her children grandchildren and great-grandchildren AND her community was taken away because of an ARGUMENT!?! Here comes these DEMONS. With no morals, respect, dignity, compassion for human life. Takes her life. Due to lack of and ignorance. We need to normalize seeking mental health care, especially for communities of color, make it affordable/accessible and stop stigmatizing it. People have so much healing that they need to do…individually and generationally.
