- We took a fall colors road trip starting in Alabama Hills all the way up to Bridgeport. California has beautiful fall colors if you know where to look for them! Definitely add a trip to the Bishop and Mammoth Lakes areas if you are trying to go leaf peeping in California.

Best Spots for Fall Colors in California: Eastern Sierra Mountains
📍June Lake - This scenic loop will take you past 3 lakes that are covered with fall colors! Our favorite lake out of the 3 is Silver Lake
📍Twin Lakes Resort near Bridgeport
📍 Virginia Lakes
📍Mammoth Lakes Basin - This area is sadly in deep smoke and on fire. But, year after year it has been one of our favorites to see the Fall Colors and the town is a true gem for vacation year around!
📍North Lake - This is a new find for us and has so many amazing Eastern Sierra Peaks towering overhead making it beautiful during any time of the day
📍Bishop Creek- the whole area surrounding Bishop is a gem. Every dirt road or hiking trail leads to a different area that is covered in fall colors
📍Convict Lake - This lake is incredibly beautiful all year around but especially during Fall 🍁 Get there early for sunrise for best views!
We had to cut our trip short early due to the Creek Fire's impacts on the air quality up in Mammoth Lakes, but we still got to see some amazing fall colors in one day! For more Fall Color inspiration check out this link:

How long did it take to arrive in each location and how long did you stay in each spot? Just wondering because we’re planning to take a short two day trip in that area! :)
I'd say all in all the stretch of fall colors in that area probably span about an hours worth of driving in between spots! If you head up to Bridgeport it's another 35 minutes from June Lake, but the colors were mostly gone already there. Bishop is a 45 minute drive outside mammoth! And all the Mammoth spots are relatively close to each other like a 15-20 minute drive! :)
Just what I was looking for. How long do you think the colors will last at the June lake? I'm planning to go over the first weekend of November, will that be too late?
you should check out Mono County/Mammoth Tourism's website! They update the fall color percentages so you can check!

Basically the theres not a lot of beautiful fall colors ,the best fall foliage are on the east coast is what I got from this video .
There is when there isn’t a fire limiting your options 😂 but east coast definitely takes the cake
Would you recommend this trip as a same day type of trip? It should take about 5 hours to get there from my location?
If you truly want to explore the fall foliage, we'd recommend spending a weekend over in the June Lake/Mammoth area!
