I started going to Mamouth in 1946 as a young boy. My parents had access to a cabin on Hilton Creek. Fished Hilton creek and lakes all the time, Also fished McGee and skied behind Dave McCoy's home with the rope tow. Love the trail behind the DPPile, spent many a night up there by Thousand Island Lake, Cecile, Cabin, Iceberg and Upper Iceberg plus many more. Loved Hot Creek and caught big trout around Benton Crossing. When Dave got the contract for Mamouth we skied the one lift, ropes, and Poma. Those were the days, for sure.
I visited Mono Lake before but it was with a class and didn't get a chance to check out the hot springs in the area! Watching your video makes me want to go back to check the springs out! Subscribed! Enjoyed your video! -A.
Hi! Thank you. Do you have a favorite spot? We can't believe we're drove through so many times in a rush to get to Mammoth and have missed so much. Looking for more spots for our next trip!! 😀
Life is Good Travel hello, I usually head to RENO. The view from the top of Lee Vining over looking Mono Lake, that panoramic view is amazing. Once you get past Mammoth the Fales Hot Springs, West Walker River and Topaz Lake is pretty cool.
Hello Life is good travel, we used to travel on 395 back in the ski day with my kids, checked out hot spring . Now we retired and thinking about travel to explore California again. Great video, I really enjoy it especially the drone footage. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing video guys. We are heading down to Mammoth lakes in September, and I was researching places to visit when I stumbled on you video. Will be checking out the spots for sure, especially crystal lake hike and rainbow falls.
Beautiful scenery and there's a great feeling of space, not too crowded. Headed to Mammoth Lakes area in a few weeks. Thanks for the helpful info and tips! 😍😊👍
@@LifeisGoodTravel I most definitely reccomend camping at twin lakes. especially if you want to just chill and relax. there's a restaraunt and small general store on site. campground is beautiful with almost no bugs pestering you all day. I got in on a first come first serve pretty easy too it was awesome!
Love that are we just came back from there. Had a blast. Agree one of the best bbqs out there. There is a hot spring between lone pine and bishop. I need to fet the name next time. Thanks for video i will visit those springs in next trip
Great job. Been exploring Mammoth for many years with a Mtn bike and hiking. For those that want to hike to Crystal Lake, the trailhead is at Lake George. It’s also fun to follow the trail beyond Crystal Lake to Mammoth Ridge...the view from the top is amazing. Be safe out there, carry bear spray.
The restaurant at Convict Lake Resort is amazing. 5 star quality. Don't miss it if you have a chance. You wouldn't expect this level of cuisine out in the middle of nowhere like this.
I used to go up to 395 from the Bay Area every summer. So many beautiful places there. Sorry to hear Hot Creek got too hot; it was a favorite. Great camerawork.
Cool video, thank you a lot!- please consider one day seeing the zugspitze, eibsee and könig ludwig's castles in my country... Be careful, you may fall in love....
You should have stopped at Shat’s in bishop or mammoth for lunch! Best deli style and bakery! I worked in mammoth for about 3 years! Awesome place! Also at the village at mammoth there is a South African restaurant that is also awesome! We ❤️ mammoth
This video was very helpful. We're planning to pass through Mammoth on our way up North so it helped not only to create a list of stops, but what to prioritize--as in maybe we pick only one hot spring. I would have liked some info on where you stayed as well--perhaps something to include in the future? Looking forward to checking out your other videos.
Susan Catherine Hi Susan! We are glad to hear it was helpful and hope you have an amazing trip. We stayed at an AirBNB in Mammoth Lakes. Great tip for our future videos. Thank you! 😊
Great Job on this video! I'm thinking of following your video and doing the same stops (that way I don't have to plan anything like I normally spend way too much time doing). I hope you guys continue to make more videos in the future. I also live in Orange County so it would be nice to see what other local day trips or road trip adventures you guys come up.
Wow amazing video. I am planning on going there in 2 weeks. For the rainbow falls. Devils postpile hikes, I heard they close parking for cars when it is full. What time do u recommend I should go there
this is so helpful, we have been going to mammoth for years with Virus you gave us a preview of this year and what to expect. Now that we are empty nesters, we went out in December and added boarder collie now 10 months old, April a Bernese Mountain dog now 5 months old. Did you see any pups on Rainbow fall's trail head? I've backpacked with our son's to Skelton Lake, 6 years ago. In somewhat good shape. I am super slow, do you think us 55 plus this is do able terrain?
Yes, you guys can definitely make it to Rainbow Falls - it's a nice level trail! We did see dogs on the trail but do not know if they are allowed. Hope you guys have a wonderful trip!

Thanks for watching our video! The hike is not strenuous at all. We did see someone with a dog when we went; however, it it says dogs are not allowed on the trail so we don't know if they enforce that or not. It took us 3 hours to see both waterfalls but we stopped to enjoy them.
