- In this adventure, we're taking you around Anza Borrego Desert State Park in California! When visiting, we would recommend having a 4x4 Vehicle or All Wheel Drive with High Clearance to get to many of the best locations. Dogs are allowed in the park but are not allowed on trails. There are fees for parking in certain spots of Anza Borrego State Park like the Visitor Center and the Slot Canyon ($10 per day)! If you love Death Valley National Park or the Southwest, you will likely love this area.

Great content. I live in San Diego, and I've been out to ABDSP multiple times. Thanks for the details on the drive to Font's Point. Just got a Honda Passport AWD with 8" clearance and am looking for a few places to test out its (and my) off-road capabilities. It's definitely not a 4Runner, but its got some capability.

Binging your show. Question, you say must have 4WD. Did you put your vehicle in 4WD or do you just recommend it? I have a Yukon with AWD so different from 4WD. Do you think I would be okay? Thanks

Haha we did actually check them out while driving by but they weren't worth spending too much time there unless you were photographing them!

Yes! There are some areas of the park that I you need it but a lot of it you can just drive to or hike to!
So where can you camp there? And can you pitch a tent ?
From the website: "You are allowed to camp anywhere in Anza Borrego for free under the following conditions: Car must be parked no more than one car length off the road, though you may walk in further to set up your site. Set up your camp at least 100 yards from any water source." There are also designated campgrounds you can pay for and you can pitch a tent there.
