Beautiful area, that Squid for Chinook fishery is awesome! Thanks for sharing it with all of us! Thank you Kitty, Rod, and Murphy Sportsfishing! Great video!
Paul, for the set-up and techniques Kitty and I did with Dave, you can find a bit more info on it at: ua-cam.com/video/UuIbhRMzN90/v-deo.html We will be doing this again in less than two months from now so will definitely try to create another video with an emphasis on the setups and techniques.
I have never seen an area with so many fish, and so much variety. If anyone was looking into booking a saltwater trip, but needed some direction on where to start... Kyuquot is a no brainer!!
Love that you caught fresh squid for bait and then hooked a real nice salmon. It is a bit unfortunate that Rod didn’t match your fingernails. Hat and nails colour coordinated. Come on Rod, get with the program!
You are making me wish it was salmon season already. can't wait. squid are so tasty, looks like such a fun trip. California salmon season should open up soon.
We never ate any fresh squid this summer, unfortunately, but the previous summer we did! Rod and I brought back a small bucket to snack on while our fish were being processed. YUM! I just wish they had a little more meat on each one.
@@KittyKanhoffen last year I only caught a few so I just stuff them with chopped shrimp then batter and deep fry with some sweet soy sauce over. Can’t beat fresh seafood, can’t wait to see what you catch for 2021! Right now miners lettuce and other wild edibles are starting to pop, morels from all the wild fire should start soon good luck on your mushroom foraging too.
A FANTASTIC way to fish jigging! Since we’ve discovered it, we’ve not trolled. Way more fun, quiet. Fishing around Pender Harbor, there was not a day we didn’t come back with our limit. We did a video on it, titled “BC Salmon Jigging” (nowhere near as good video production as yours)
LOL I have no desire get my own boat. I'm perfectly content with my own legs getting me from spot to spot. A couple years ago I tried driving a boat for work, and I have to say, I'm scarred from that experience. It was so windy, I had no control, plus our fly lines got tangled in the motor, it was a complete disaster!
In his defense, he did offer to film that evening to let me get rid of my first fish itch. That offer didn't last long, as you can see him sneaking in a few casts. 😂
big fish on light gear is the best fun! At my local (Twizel, New Zealand) 2500 size reels with 10lb braid, 6lb leader on 3-15gm casting weight 9ft long rods are the go to. the browns and rainbows get to over 40lb and there's some pretty sizeable salmon too.
@@FishingwithRod Kahawai on light gear definitely give you the run around, but nothing beats getting pinned to the gunnels by a horse of a kingi (or 10) and not being able to lift your arms the next day. We'd love to have you down here, once we are all free to travel the world again.
You should! Jigging in the ocean is unlike any other jigging I've tried. The hits are pretty vicious, and with the depth/space, the fish have ample amounts of room to run.
HAY KITTY, NICE VIDEO. I MISS YOU, YOU HAVEN'T PUT ANYTHING OUT IN A WHILE. HOPE ALL IS WELL. DID YOU GET HIT WITH THE VORTEX??? STAY COOL TEACH... PEACE...
Hey Paul!! I know it has been a while since we chatted. Life has been steady, work keeping me on my toes at times, but things are slowly down (which is nice). No, I didn't get hit with the vortex, January/February is my reporting month for school, so I tend to go on hiatus. The weekends have been quite pleasant, got a sick steelhead that taped out to be just under 20. Still haven't made the 20's club, but that's okay! I hope you are doing well yourself! Stay safe out there Paulie!
Ok. I'm being constructive here about the video production. A lot of novice filmmakers are in love with bokeh so they shoot at the widest aperture possible, The fuzzy background look. Rod is guilty of this. It's ok if you are focusing on an object with an irrelevant background (like a fishing reel). But at 1:24 it's a sin because the gorgeous fish that jumped is totally obscured. It's daylight and rod could have shot at f8 or f11 and you'd see that fish perfectly. But he shot really wide and it's a blur. Mix it up Rod. Think of your context first not the blur porn. If the background is important or beautiful - SHOW IT. Thanks. ps. Kitty you are a pretty woman - 7:32 the turquoise nails are not you. Try a strong red imo.
I appreciate the feedback Bigfish Tuna! Sometimes we tend to rely on what we are comfortable with and forget/struggle to be creative. As for the nails, I am a sucker for red, so much so that I wear it 95% of the time (as seen in photos and other videos on my channel and Rod's). Some people have even questioned if my nails are naturally red, again because I sport it so often. I think the reason behind the sparkled teal was because I had previously filmed a prospecting episode with Pioneer Pauly, and I thought it would look nice with the gold we found. Cheers, and thanks for dropping by!

Reminders set, beer in hand, I'm ready
You were more ready than I was! I could sure use a cold beverage right about now.
Always fun to see Yourself and Rod out on the water.
That was a nice salmon!
And what a beautiful place to be fishing!
Thanks Beeps! Both Rod and I can agree that Kyuquot is one of our summer musts for filming projects.
Super excited to watch this and then the long video.
Rod definitely has a list of Kyuquot footage to share with you guys and gals from last summer. Stay tuned!
Fun hang out Kitty! Nasci in action!
Can hardly wait for summer. Am ready!
Summer is where it's at!! I love the freedom as well as the long days.
The production quality of your videos is outstanding!
Rod is unreal!!!
Love gigging chinook it's a blast:)

I don't know if Rod could pull off the teal sparkle polish... Sorry Boss 1. :P
Really great stuff. Looking forward to watching more pranks on deserving souls such as Pauly the Pioneer
Paul is so busy nowadays, I don't think he has time for little ol' me anymore😢😉. Plus Covid isn't making filming plans easy.

Mushrooms lol ;) spring is on the way!!
Hopefully morels start popping up sooner than later. I am looking forward to foraging myself some stinging nettles.

This was filmed back in the beginning of July.

This was a hoot to watch. How are you hooking the squid?
Using the shimano nasci I see... one of my favourite reels lol
Beautiful chinook!! Strangely enough...I had a very similar experience today when I jigged up a 13 inch stocked rainbow trout whilst ice fishing 😆 🎣
Hopefully you didn't lose any phones this time. ;)
@@KittyKanhoffen Lol not this time...that won’t happen again...until I get another expensive phone😉

Looks fun! Is that Clarus a 6’6” or 7’? Need a new casting setup !
@@FishingwithRod awesome thanks Rod!
So the squid are caught on the same jig? I thought you need squid jigs to catch squid. Can we get a close up of the jig?
@@FishingwithRod that’s so cool! Thanks for the reply!
Dang it I missed the premier sorry Kitty and Rod I'll do better next time
No need to ever apologize Ernie. I hope it was because you were out having a blast fishing!

What length of rod do you use for salmon jigging in the salt?
Anywhere from 6ft to 9ft would work.

what's cookin?
Well right now Daniel has some honey garlic chicken, mixed veg, and mashed potatoes on the stove. What about you?
I can't tell if you're 35 or 19
