Great mention! I often feel like I need cut clips assuming people don’t want to see the longer video form… but perhaps I should? Thanks for watching and the comment! J
Try fishing at East Sooke, its the best time of the year and start your way at Cheanu Marina to Beachyhead. I like the Clarity of your video, truly enjoying to Watch.
Thanks for the feedback and suggestion! I’ll try that area if sooke when I get out there, not sure when yet. Have you ever fished the Chum in the Sooke Basin from a kayak?
Another Wonderful kayak fishing, I hope I can see you kayak fishing in West/North Vancouver sometime soon. 😃( cuz I live not far away from there ) I wanted to move to Chiliwack from Burnaby before but after I watched your kayak fishing videos, I have changed my mind moving to Nanaimo 🤣 ... Did you use L'il Nib Jigging Lure? If not, what did you use? If so, I would like to know what SIZE of L'il Nib Jigging Lure did you use? 2.2oz? 3/4oz?? or 5oz??? 😁
I typically am watching motored boats fishing, but this looks epic. The action in a kayak must be something special. What's the biggest fish you've pulled in?
@@vincentsnyder6622 it’s an absolute blast being on the water in a kayak like this. And if I catch fish at the same time it’s a cherry on top. The largest fish on the yak, is a high teen pound Chinook Salmon.
Hey! Mine is an Old Town (brand). Salty 120 PDL (model). I’m looking to make a video on the full breakdown on my kayak and accessories. It really suits the type of fishing that I do on the ocean, and it certainly more than enough for any lake. As for recommendation, I’ve never tried any other pedal kayak than an Old Town. But I love their peddle drive. And I like the price point compared to Hobie, which was too much for me at this point.
Can you recommend placed for putting in kayak around Nanaimo please. My wife and I planning to stay in Nanaimo for two or three nights and I think of cartop my kayak and do some fishing....I hope it will come true...haha..Thank you.
Launch out of Charlaine Ramp (near Pipers Lagoon). Easy access to the water there and parking available. You can go right out and fish or kayak along the coast.
Thanks for the feedback! I have 40# braid as my mainline which is important for fishing deeper and no stretch in the line for hooksets. From the mainline I have a duolock (swivel) that connects a 20#-30# fluorocarbon leader (roughly 4 feet long).
I post all my gear, tide timing, etc for this trip on my website. Check my ‘Journals’ section for past trips as well. And for this particular trip see: www.bcfishingjournal.com/journals/vertical-jigging-for-salmon-in-kayak/

@@thecount1001 I appreciate your concern for the salmon as I do as well. I had to boat this guy in order to get the hook out. In this case he took it pretty deep.
Dont want to be a dick but you have to improve your landing game when it comes to salmon. That first fish has almost no shot at surviving with the way you brought it into your kayak.

Awesome video! There's no better feeling when a salmon hammers a jig! 🙌 we're heading out for an evening fish tonight!
You going strictly for salmon? Good luck tonight!
@BCFishingJournal thanks! definitely Salmon is the primary target, hopefully get into some ling and Rockfish later on

Yes, using Lil’ Nib 2.2oz. If your fishing deeper with more tidal current, use the larger one.
I caught my pb rockfish out of comox the other day, it was around 8 pounds, thought it was a big ling.
Woah. 8# that would be a beast. What type of Rockfish was it?
@BCFishingJournal copper rockfish, I didn't think they'd get that big on this side of the island. Also got a nice hatchery coho that day

Beautiful British Columbia…………That’s an understatement…………
I normally troll for salmon, but yeah, I gotta try vertical jigging!
It’s a blast! Feeling the strikes makes it one of my favorite methods.
Where were fishing?
How do you know how much line to let out? Also any suggestions for lures?
I usually get the jig to the bottom then work it through the water columns. Lures I like are Buzz Bombs & Lil’ Nibs.
