Hi everyone! This is the final part of our series "Kyuquot, The Fish Metropolis". The fishing was ridiculous fast during this short session. I hope you will enjoy it! :)
I so look forward to your video installments. So well made; capturing the peaceful, calm nature of the water and also the excitement of the catch. Every time I watch, I come away feeling refreshed. Thank You!
I started counting the days a few weeks ago when i realized it's only a few months away. pretty bad when i plan my whole year around those months. The frist time was in the late 90's, no point in stopping now.
Hello Rod/Kitty.Very nice video, well done. What is the brand name of those rods? Especially the left one that seems to bend a bit further than the right one.And what are the specifications in terms of length, casting weight and action.Thanks.regards,Roy.
Thanks. This was the second week of July. Usually we have our jackets on too because the weather on the West Coast rarely heats up even in the summer. This particular day was the nicest we've experienced.
This particular trip I always recommend to anyone who is looking into doing a saltwater trip on the West Coast. The fishing is good, but what really impresses me is how organized Dave and Marilyn are with their team of guides. :)
Seriously? Remember you from FishBC. I used to be a fly guy Elk River till...the purge. Now WCFGA member since... 2011ish Pretty good vid come see me for a different take on the ocean. try chromatosecharters Fb for a look.
Those are my reels actually... ;) Actually, kind of my reels (these were loaners because mine hadn't arrived). I can't remember what was spooled on them, pretty sure they were either 30 or 40lb test mono. I personally put 25lb test Maxima Ultragreen mono on mine.
Definitely. Mortality in Catch and release on salmon in saltwater can be high, so release technique like this with no handling can reduce it significantly. :)

Fishing with Rod what month was this filmed in? Later part of July?
This was in early July.
I actually yelled "fish, fish" when Kitty was doing the intro. Great video!
Haha yes!
Great video as usual Rod! Kitty's enthusiasm and her hi-wattage smile are always icing on the cake!
Thanks Mark!
Sweet, new video! This was a very good adventure, thanks for taking us along with you Rod.
You're welcome. Thanks for tagging along!

Thank you! I'm glad to hear that. It's exactly how we want our audience to feel when you watch these episodes. :)
Fish on Kitty!!!! that was perfect to catch that one jerky on the rigger!
pretty steady action. nice day for sure. And i have to say, that's a really cool place to have a 2nd set of controls vs on the house.
I’ve loved these videos Rod, great job! I need to take a trip over there in the future.
Beautiful fish, would love to try such rich fishing. Great video
Oh man, I can't wait to get back out on the salt this summer. I sure love it out there! Need to get the engine fixed first though!
Better hurry, just a few more months to go. ;)

Those are Shimano Convergence mooching rods, 10'6" long, rating is 12 to 20lb. I can't remember the casting weight. The action is moderate. :)
are you running all mono on the TR3 yellow to 40' or so orange on her rod?

Great as usual Rod. What time of year was this? It looks like Summer but what dates were you there?
Thanks. This was the second week of July. Usually we have our jackets on too because the weather on the West Coast rarely heats up even in the summer. This particular day was the nicest we've experienced.
Thanks Rod! Thinking about doing a trip like this with Murphy Sport Fishing.

Can you catch lingcod in kyuoqt sound at this time of year in march?
Lingcod can be caught year round, as long as weather permits and the fishery is open.
What kind of line is he running on those rods? I see red and green? What pound main line do the guides run?

Sweet yeah I think i run the 25 pound seagar on my mainline. Thought that stuff looked heavier but hard to tell because of the colors.
Dude was real good at releasing the non keepers.

wow you guys are hot fishing i love it
why are you using fly rods?
Those are not fly rods. They are mooching rods typically used for salmon on the West Coast.
10'6 length. Action varies from light to heavy.
Fly rods can be useful if the fish are YoYos or smaller 'Nooks.
