I get an instant energy boost and feel great throughout the morning. my body regulates to the temperature of the room and I feel more relaxed. 2. I expand my comfort zone making obstacles throughout the day easier to overcome. This is essential to self actualizing and fulfilling your potential in life. 3. I now have a new "friendly" relationship with the cold.. cold outdoor temperatures that used to bother me is now comfortable for me. I see it as a way to continue growing and expanding my comfort zone. .. there are way more benefits I've heard of such as fat loss, reduced inflammation, more testosterone for men but I haven't done too much research into those. just these 3 benefits alone are enough reason for me to make this a lifestyle. ... Hot showers: pure relaxation, amazing after a workout, makes you sleep better Cold showers: wake you the fuck up, you get out of the shower quicker(obviously lol), you feel amazing and focussed, your skin and hair gets better, your immune system gets better
Much depends on surrounding environment. "cold" water in the southern states is likely over 60f while cold water in northern areas near the end of winter is likely to be 40f, +-5f makes a big difference with water. Also it is very easy to take a cool shower or go out in the snow in shorts for a few minutes if you are thermally saturated in a 75f house for hours before and after. The situation is much different if your base thermal state is already drained from living in a 50f environment 24/7, in this case all you need is a hot soak.
I started doing this recently, but I take a different approach. Instead, I keep it warm for most of the shower, then crank it to icy cold for the last 30 seconds or so. Makes showering more comfortable and still gives me that kick to my senses.
Cold Showers make me feel so good. It makes me so calm, confident, alert, and happy. I remember a couple days last year, I was feeling sad and taking a cold shower made me happier. It made me less stressed, sad, and full of anxiety. It helped a lot!

I've been doing this for over 5 months now and the water is getting colder and colder as we move into winter here in the UK. I can say it definitely wakes you up and I strongly believe it's massively improved my natural immunity. I had a sniffle one night but gone the next day after my cold shower. I shower in hot water as normal to wash myself and then turn it to cold for 30 seconds and then push it even colder (ice cold) for between 30-45 seconds. I don't seem to be getting used to it and I still hate it but I really want to prove to myself that this will keep the nasty flu's at bay (yes, even the man-made one!). Regarding energy levels though, I'm still knackered most evenings but I do have a young child to raise!! Do it. Try it. The best bit is after you have dried off. You do feel pretty amazing 😁
I take them AFTER working in winter. 60 seconds as cold as possible Helps with inflammation. Better sleep. Almost never cramps during sleep. Do recommend! ♥️👍
When you live in a country where waking up at 4-5am is normal to go to 8am work and having a heater means you're rich, cold showers are really an everyday thing.
First thing out of bed, every day, is my cold shower, even if I’m going to the gym afterwards. Get in and then turn the water on. After 2+ years, haven’t gotten sick, it’s no longer a sacrifice and feel great.
I normally have hot showers in the evening, if im gonna start doing morning cold showers like today, should i no longer do the hot showers in the evening?
I've been finishing my showers with cold water every day for the last 40 years or so, ever since I read an article in a magazine (no web back then) about the benefits of doing so. If I don't, I feel all sweaty after 2 minutes. But taking the whole shower with cold water, although potentially beneficial, seems like overkill to me. But to each their own. Do whatever rocks your boat.
I live in Australia (Western Australia) and in summer can get pretty hot in here (40C+). I started taking cold showers during the summer time to keep cool and I quite like them :)
Recently I’ve been taking both hot and cold showers after yrs of showing in hot water. I’ve been so against taking cold showers since I hated being cold and shivery in the morning, but just a few days ago, I took a cold shower by first turning it into hot water before gradually turning it into cold water as I showered. So far, I’ve been testing the waters (no pun intended) to take cold showers, I actually like taking cold showers and I hope I can consistently take cold showers as time goes on, though I’ll still take hot showers as well.
I used to have these nervous tics/ muscle twitches because of social anxiety but ever since I used cold water there's literally no more so far. I think due to better circulation
Made the switch a week ago. Just gotta learn how to control your breathing upon entry to the cold water. After that it feels nice, and you have good energy for the rest of the day. I just jump straight into the cold water and my body gets used to it and that's that.
I've been doing something similar for about 3 months now, I take my usual warm/hot shower every day and at the end of the session I just switch to as cold as possible and wash my entire body except head for about 30~45 seconds. I found that this method works best for me. So if you're unwilling to try the method mentioned in the video this might help.
