As a BONUS TIP, I would like to recommend: Setting an alarm for 60-90 minutes before your designated sleep time to create a "Pre-Sleep Ritual" where you disconnect from all your tech devices (no screen time and set phone on flight mode, and dim the house lights). Do things like brush your teeth, organise your desk, wash dishes, journal down your ideas (download your day onto paper), read your book. That way you will program your mind to calm down with sufficient timing which will allow you to have a higher quality sleep and you will feel incredible and super focused the next day. When you wake up, implement a similar (tech free) Post-Sleep Ritual to start your morning fresh without bombarding your mind with the outside World's distractions wasting your attention units. Keep those habits implemented long enough and there will be no limit to what you can achieve with your new found hyper focus! I hope this serves you well and if you've read this far, I wish you all the best on your journey of personal development and sending much love from Western Australia :)

I remember when I was in high school I was able to study for hours & hours but after entering university I lost everything. being an introvert & depressed person it's really hard to concentration on anything especially learning. I can't concentrate and not being able to increase my programming skills which I have been trying to do for a long time. I like your video btw. in this social media era, it's really hard to focus. it's easier to wasting time on social media. i literally hate myself
Rashika Tasnim > wake up at 5:30 every morning > exercise for 20-40 minutes first thing after getting up (HIIT/run 1-2 miles) > get in bed at 9:15 and aim to be asleep by 10:15 every night This is the bare minimum. Do these things and everything else will work itself out.
Love yourself instead! We are all different, find what works for you. Be you and love that person, because that's the most important relationship in your life. Take one step at a time and reward yourself. Build up some confidence step-by-step and it will get better and better. Also, maybe you could reflect on what changed since high school. Maybe you have more responsibilities now, you are in the process of adjusting to a new situation, finding yourself again? It is not making excuses, it's forgiving and moving on. Focus on what you can do, how far you have come so far, just move on from seeing the negative about yourself and start noticing all the positive stuff. Wish you all the best!

This will not only make you better when it comes to productivity , but also it makes your personal life much better. Because when you are focused on your tasks throughout the day , after some time it makes you more present , gratefull , happier . You have more energy and you are spontenously more positive. Than when you come to your family back or your friends or especially girlfriend , you connect with them easier , talk with them without struggle , enjoy life with them without struggle. Than they follow your path of increasing happines , grattitude , positivity and joy , what leads to much more love. Than ,all of a sudden , world is a nicer place.
That's actually a great way to keep yourself focussed, as I understand it. It's called fidgetting, look it up, if you want. The theory is that your brain has too much capacity to just focus on one thing, so it's always searching for more stimuli. By playing with a water bottle, pen or something else, you make sure your brain is already fully occupied; this helps you to fully focus on the video, in this case.
This was gold. I have now created a structure for my day, incorporating all elements of this sessions' training. You have a new sub now :)
Speaking from my own experience, Exercising is the root cause of staying focused. How? Well, I couldn't sleep at night before which had a result of being tired throughout the day cause of sleeping less than 7 hours. So how exactly I can sleep now is because of exercise that makes me feel sleepy and get me proper 7-8 hours of sleep which ultimately helped me to stay focused throughout the day. And honestly, UNHEALTHY FOOD DOES MAKE YOU FEEL SLEEPY!! Trust me or not, Try having junk food for a day then try to focus and have healthy food the other day and then focus, You will notice the difference by yourself. I hope y'all decide what's best for you. All the best peeps.
@@riddhidhumale4764 and excercising is just not thinking anything, not staying focus cuz idk maybe u had a long break and just wanna take a break and do a simple thing just by walking, it gives a peace to the mind
I'd argue there's many ways to help stay focused state, and that exercising is just one of them. I'm no expect, but I'd say any activity that's "all encompassing" of your attention may help you "be" in a focused state. However, vigorous exercise that physically tires on a regular definitely is hugely helpful in regulating sleep / hormones / mood / etc, and contribute overall to "being more focused in general".
Hahaha, wait till you start working! I've had 90-100 hour work weeks and days when I literally worked 36 hours straight. Fortunately, it's not always like that.

I agree, when I'm mentally exhausted, though I tend to pick up my phone and start swiping, deep in my mind what I actually want to do is to think about nothing, go for a walk or meditate.
Needed this video today since after a few hard weeks, I'm finding it hard to correct my students' (rather complex) papers this weekend. Thanks for the reminder of what breaks should be like! So now I'm using the 45 mins work - 15 mins rest strategy and it works a lot better. Thank you!
Napping definitely helps with giving your mind the break it needs if done properly, and it all depends on what your mind wants, if you have over 3 hours of a nap it will stuff your mental clock up, but a 1 hour nap is very refreshing for me.

Great video. Happy you mentioned Pomodoro, I was going to mention it, because I was not aligned when you said focus for hours... Also, 2 others things: 1) sleep, 7 to 9 is arbitrary, some people need a bit less and some more... also depends on cycles, usually I have some better nights than others, it's natural. 2) I am also a Morning person for focus and concentration, but I know some people are unable in the morning and can perform better at evenings... Lots of good recommendations in your video, just wanted to add a little filter ;-)

Loved this video a lot. I hardly watched it on 3 sessions though : ))) Social media impacted my reading habits of fiction books so much. I just cannot concentrate. I bought like 6 novels, and hardly finished one. It didn't impact my non-fiction book reading focus however. I don't know why, but I think it has to do with phone distraction. In the old days, reading a fiction book was the escape from the real world. Now, the escape is the smart phone.
Well I guess nowadays scientists, system engineers and others have oversimplied the process where the consumers don't have to read, write, and do alot of step like before. Is so crazy that now we have gesture inputs, speech recognition, user friendly user interfaces and etc. I guess the fact that Amazon Fresh, Instacart, Netflix, and auto pilot with Tesla just shows how automotive things have become. Not to mention macros to eliminate even basic manual typing to even narrow AI

Absolutely amazing job in this video! You summarized all key points of proper focus very well. There are productivity courses and consultants who invoice thousands and can teach only small part of this info. Keep doing the good work!
Yes! Any time we believe that we are multitasking, or running processes in parallel, but that's not true. Every task requires 'booting' up a set of rules or context. Switching tasks means booting up a different set of rules. This is as time consuming as being interrupted while focusing. They say it takes up 15 minutes to get back into what you're doing. Multi-tasking is like working with people who interrupt you every half hour, but i's self-suffering. Great video
I’m a night owl. My best time to focus is the couple hours right before bed. I know I only have a small amount of time to get tasks done before I need to sleep and that keeps me on track. Plus there are less people working at this time who are likely to distract me with conversation
I’ve been practicing a quick, free 7-second brain trick that is backed by NASA research, it really works. I mentioned it on my profile for those who are curious
Fantastic video, I shared it on my coaching Facebook page. A comment: I can focus better and for a longer period of time when I put some music on or even listen to an audiobook. I use this method when I sew, knit, draw, paint, or tidy up and organise my stuff. I don't think I could listen to an audiobook or watch a movie and write an article at the same time :) By the way, I use the 45 minutes focus time and 10-15 minutes rest as well, it's a familiar pattern that I learnt at school in Poland (ages ago 🙂 )

after watching this video
Lol same here
Your videos are not only mere videos, they are gems in disguise. I learn new things from your content everytime and try to implement them in my life. You explain it so simply that I find it easy to follow, not all but at least some of them. I'm so grateful.
1. Avoid distractions
2. Fulfill your basic needs, fulfill them the proper way.
3. You can train your concentration like a muscle.
4. Have a time set for every day for that concentration training to keep it sharp.
5. After concentrating for a longer period of time, give your brain a break, meaning don't do anything that uses your brain too heavily.
For concrete information, it is advised to watch the whole video.
Thank you, I hate these 10+ minute videos that fix nothing
@@MelloCello7 Even if the video is educational, its literally talking about wasting time, when he should just put the key points in the description. we should choose if we want the examples and explanation. i dont want to waste so much time, when i can note down the main ideas and apply that to myself.

Way to go dude
I remember when I was in high school I was able to study for hours & hours but after entering university I lost everything. being an introvert & depressed person it's really hard to concentration on anything especially learning. I can't concentrate and not being able to increase my programming skills which I have been trying to do for a long time. I like your video btw. in this social media era, it's really hard to focus. it's easier to wasting time on social media. i literally hate myself

This is the bare minimum.

That was a break from focusing on the video! 😂

Me: *Playing with empty water bottle while watching this video*
i THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE BRRUH YES water bottle gang
To be honest everything is distracting , if its not an actual work to do
That's actually a great way to keep yourself focussed, as I understand it.
😂😂😂
lol hahaa i really love empty plastics bottles etc lol
This guy needs a *Nobel prize* for such good and beneficial videos
This is a huge problem I face everyday!!! Thanks so much!!! Love uuu!!!! Have a nice day after listen it everyone
Someone needs to edit the above, it’s listening to-not listen it everyone?
This was gold.
I have now created a structure for my day, incorporating all elements of this sessions' training. Every point was justified and explained clearly, and had simple animations with it; important because we are very visual creatures (hence watching this video over a blog). My day will now consist of:
5am -- Wakeup
5:10 - 8am -- Study with phone out of room
9 - 5 -- Job
5:30 - 6 -- Help make dinner with Mum so I can cook when I leave home
6 - 6:30 -- Dinner
6:45 - 7 -- Dog night walk
7 - 9 -- Study with regular breaks of either reading or walking around house
9 - 9:30 -- Read
9:30 -- Bed
Keep up the great work making these quality videos guys! You have a new sub now :)
How do u get up at 5
Aena 5 bc he’s sleeping à 9:30
Are you still continuing this routine??
do you still take a bath?
Agree with you, especially if we eat or drink sweet, it does make us sleepy easily
@@ootdbabangtamvan9275 I know right!! And yeah, Sugar should be avoided if we have proper routine or else sugar is a huge interruption. 🙂

I agree, when I'm mentally exhausted, though I tend to pick up my phone and start swiping, deep in my mind what I actually want to do is to think about nothing, go for a walk or meditate.
Meditation helped me a lot to stay in the present moment and to focus:) Greetings
I liked the name of the channel: "Better than yesterday" is a very good phrase.
Needed this video today since after a few hard weeks, I'm finding it hard to correct my students' (rather complex) papers this weekend. Thanks for the reminder of what breaks should be like! So now I'm using the 45 mins work - 15 mins rest strategy and it works a lot better. Thank you!

exactly. the online class readings are always hell.
Napping definitely helps with giving your mind the break it needs if done properly, and it all depends on what your mind wants, if you have over 3 hours of a nap it will stuff your mental clock up, but a 1 hour nap is very refreshing for me.

I'm procrastinating. I have a project at work I cannot focus on. Good info!
I was able to focus on one thing much better when I was a kid. But as I started using cellphone and smartphone I became unable to focus. We're used to get stimulated frequently so we can't stand to be bored now. This video was so useful. I'll try to follow the tips from now on. thank you so much.
My father said, exercising is the root cause of staying focused. I woke up early in the morning. I went to jogging, doing some push ups and at the same time. I'm meditating too and when i got to home. i studied english but i feel sleepy because of exercising, i can't do focus even though ive been meditating. Sorry, my english is not that good to explain my experience. Ive trying my best to learn english. Thank youuuu
Do flexible exercise like yoga instead of jogging meanwhile you can still jog on days you're less busy
Sometimes when I was younger excercise right before studying made it hard because my heart was still up wait a little bit maybe
thank you for making this video. you made my mom think that im normal, since you made a whole video about it.

Great video.
Happy you mentioned Pomodoro, I was going to mention it, because I was not aligned when you said focus for hours...
Also, 2 others things:
1) sleep, 7 to 9 is arbitrary, some people need a bit less and some more... also depends on cycles, usually I have some better nights than others, it's natural.
2) I am also a Morning person for focus and concentration, but I know some people are unable in the morning and can perform better at evenings...
Lots of good recommendations in your video, just wanted to add a little filter ;-)

4.Make it a Habit
5. Un-stimulate your brain

I watched this, while playing, studying, and making schedule for my daily activities.
This video really hit the point! I like multi tasking and recently I'm stress a lot even right now due to many task and I'll be taking board exam this coming november. Oh the irony of a video about focus and distractions having multiple ad breaks in it.
I literally got signed up for an Amazon seller scheme via an ad before this video. Still haven't done any studying yet...
The resonance of this video is astounding.
Absolutely amazing job in this video! You summarized all key points of proper focus very well. There are productivity courses and consultants who invoice thousands and can teach only small part of this info. Keep doing the good work!
Thank you for sharing this valuable insight on focus and procrastination.
Great video
I gotta make a special time for using the internet so I dont get distracted
This is a good strategy! You can use apps like Rescue Time or Cold Turkey to block certain websites too in case you get distracted.
I also get annoyed when daily live gets in the way of using the internet. But sadly Cold Turkey can't block my mom from entering the room.
Now is excellent - Never procrastinate.
I’m a night owl. My best time to focus is the couple hours right before bed. I know I only have a small amount of time to get tasks done before I need to sleep and that keeps me on track. Plus there are less people working at this time who are likely to distract me with conversation
True. Phone is one of the biggest distractions. Rescuing that, exercise, meditation helping me.

Fantastic video, I shared it on my coaching Facebook page.
A comment: I can focus better and for a longer period of time when I put some music on or even listen to an audiobook. I use this method when I sew, knit, draw, paint, or tidy up and organise my stuff. I don't think I could listen to an audiobook or watch a movie and write an article at the same time :)
By the way, I use the 45 minutes focus time and 10-15 minutes rest as well, it's a familiar pattern that I learnt at school in Poland (ages ago 🙂 )
Thank you so much. This channel is so helpful for me to put myself together. By the way exercises and food habits play a huge part, by own experience I could say.
