Sorry Taff....I`ve called it quits on watching this campaign. When you ordered your damaged cruiser convoy to sail to western port, well that was it. Many people (especially me..) have commented in previous episodes that you need to upgrade the eastern port (port only!!!!!!!!!!!!! not the airfield!!!!!!!!!!!) if you want to release/repair ships. Many people have commented in previous episodes, that you need to time convoys in/out of enemy bases in the dark, so therefore do not use ships with slow speed of 14 knots, for example. Use a fleet of DDs...research their carrying capacities, some DDs carry lots more than others. All ships (military and merchants) MUST have dual purpose guns!!!! example, Shinsu, Kamagowa, Nippon Maru for merchants!!!!! As for me, I`ll wait until you start a new series of something else.
What you don't appreciate it how this mod completely starves the player for resources, especially engineering and fuel. It will take months to get the necessary supplies around to Tarakan. Which could all be rectified with 25 miles of open sea at the north of the map, or just making Tarakan a level 5 port at the start.
The issue with releasing ships at Tarakan isn't actually a bug, although the message you are receiving is misleading, and you can decide whether or not you think it is "fair" (I don't). In the base game, and most mods, the ports where you can create ships are all level 5 ports. The setting for the port level where you can disband ships is also set to level 5, so this matches. For Tarakan, however, they changed a separate setting that allows you to create ships at this specific port --- but it is still only a level 3 port. Thus, you can create ships there, and rearm them there, but you can't release them for repair? And, there is no way to sail around the north to Kurchin? That makes no sense, and it is not fair. BTW, what that message should say is that you " are not within 13 miles of *a level 5 port* ", which at Tarakan, you are not. There are two ways to correct this, both of which require you to change values in the save game file. First, you can change the setting that controls the port level for disbanding ships to allow that function at level 3 (or higher) ports. This can be abused because you could then release ships at any level 3 or higher port that you control. Second, you can change the port level of Tarakan to 5. The only side effect this would have is to increase the sea detection range around the port (the darker inner circle). I recommend changing the port level at Tarakan. If you want to try to make this change, *do so at your own risk*. First locate your save files, usually at: *C:\Users\\AppData\LocalLow\Killerfish Games\War on the Sea\save\campaign* *MAKE BACKUP COPIES OF THE FILES IN THIS FOLDER!* Open the correct save file with a text editor, or better yet, a JSON editor. If you are using a text editor, be very, very careful not to change the formatting of the file, which will look like one really long line of text. DO NOT insert any carriage returns or extra characters. If changing the port level required, search for "portLevelToDisband", then change the number that follows it from 5 to 3. If changing the port level of Tarakan, search for "TARAKAN", then carefully move forward through the text about 200 characters, until you find the text "portLevel". Change the number following it from 3 to 5. Save the file and try to load it in the game. If you messed up the formatting, the file will probably fail to load --- restore the backup copy. If it loads, see if you can release a ship at Tarakan.
There aren't that many supplies available, because this mod totally starves the player. That said, there are enough at Tarakan to send at least some, which should be done.
It is driving me so crazy that you think your port is bugged when you just need to upgrade it to enable repairs. It would be a good use of all the supplies that you don't send to your invading forces. I imagine you are known as "the butcher", because you send your troops in with no food, ammo, or clothes, on ships that are basically full of holes. Somehow you are still winning though. It is really fun to watch, but man, that part stresses me out.
Pretty sure this is the way. Also, in order for ports to refit aircraft, don't they need to use some of the fuel and supplies at that base? IE he needs fuel and supplies at all his bases to replace all his cap cover that has been lost to attrition? Turtling up and refitting all of his bases before pushing further might not be a bad idea if that is true.
Yes, you do. What they did in this mod was to make Tarakan a place where you can launch ships, but still only a level 3 port. Well, you say, just upgrade the port! Not so easy. The mod gives limited supplies, and barely any engineering and fuel. Resources would need to be sent over from Kurchin, which would take months given the replenish rates. It's absurd. This could all be solved with 25 miles of open sea across the north of the map or just making Tarakan a level 5 port from the start.

The first six months were a nightmare for the Allied forces not the Japanese. What is it going to be like in later years when the Allies dominate the air? Bismark Sea every day? I've said it before this is just silly. Its not fun or interesting and definitely not historical. B-17 strikes on ships at sea were as rare as hen's teeth.
