    Hi, I am a friend of Eskies, and she told me about your channel. I have seen the color cubes since I also enjoy adult coloring. I never thought to try them with watercolor. That is so cool.

    That was really cool. Exploring color mixes from a limited palette gives one surprises. It was interesting choosing non-summery colors. Great demo.❤

    The red of the raspberries makes me think of pomegranate seeds. I do like Sarah's color cubes and i have them. There is a channel creator on here who goes by Emma LaFebvre. She is amazing when it comes mimicking or matching colors with her professional Winsor and Newton paints. She can make any color at all with those paints. In my opinion there is no one better than her when it comes to color mixing. And she is a good artist.

    These cubes remind me of the WIRSIT INSPO posts on the Jamieson and Smith blog.... have you ever seen them? They take a photo of something in the Shetland Islands and match the colors from the photo with their (enormous) selection of shetland wool. In my ind, the idea then is to take one of the color sets and use them in a color work pattern. The final result is miles away from the original inspiration but the colors should work together beautifully...... I have one of their books; remind me to show it to you!

      Actually I have seen them and I follow them on Instagram. At least I think it’s the same group-really beautiful wool created from the colors in a field of heather, for instance. Their photos like that are so pleasing to look at!!

    I Have both of them as well and I love them. I find they are wonderful, especially when I am really stuck about what to paint and I can't think of colors or I hate all my paints or any of those other reasons we sit round and just lack inspiration for anything.

      I think Marlena may have been exaggerating on that statement-kind of like when you have nothing to wear or hate all your clothes.☺️

    I could never understand any picture with colour swatches. Are the swatches meant to be the colours in the picture or are they the colours that I need to mix to get the colours in the picture?

    • @artonthecreek
      @artonthecreek  10 днів тому +2

      On the color cube cards, the swatches of color are exact matches to the key colors found in the example photo. Their digital hex codes and value variations are on the reverse of each card.

      If you go to Sara's website, it might be helpful to you. She gives a simple explanation, said different ways. Since she is a colored pencil artist, there are a myriad of colors that come in a set of pencils so as a painter with 12 to 48 or so colors in your paintbox, you will end up mixing up some colors. This helps you learn mixes, too.
      I enjoy just looking at the boxes on my table, too, being a color junkie 😂

    Huh… you have been the only artist I have watched using these colour cubes, and managing to sell me on the fact that they can indeed be a very useful tool. Am I wrong in thinking that when they first came out, they were more expensive, than what you paid? I do remember my eyes bleeding at the shipping costs from Australia though 🫣 Perhaps if I am in funds once more over the coming months/year(!) I will splurge on them as a gift to myself, but this shall be highly unlikely until at least Christmas/Birthday 2025!! 😢 Thank you for a wonderful explanation, resulting in an extremely successful painting. 👩🏻‍🎨🎨🖌️👏🏻❤️

      Anita, you and I are so alike! When these first came out, I didn’t even see why they would be useful. That’s evidenced in how long I waited to purchase them, and I genuinely am happy with them because they are so versatile. I enjoy using a limited palette in colors that go against the normal expected range of colors for a subject-I’m sooo happy you enjoyed this and the final painting!
