Some beautiful work on your channel and some rather interesting discussion. Coming from an automotive mechanical background you are providing some excellent info for those learning the journey. Passionate people in the automotive industry is exactly what the trade needs. Keep it up!
Great video, Gunny! I’m always learning something new from ya, and I appreciate the “how to” on anything waterborne. Happy Easter to you and your family!
You definitely have some mad skills. Great work... just like everytime. Be cool to see vids compiled like bloopers on crap that goes wrong. Probably would make me feel better to see bad stuff happens and how you dealt with correction. Georgia heat and humidity can really break things down in US. Stay safe!
While you're not wrong, that is a bit more risky as you might cut through. But also, he's not trying to make it perfectly flat. It's just to knock it down a bit so he can spray his clear to match the rest of the orange peel on the car.
Bought my first set of wheels and tires, the shop scratched one on the cleared lip, they’re like oh we’ll have it refinished, then well we pay less for a new wheel, got new wheel it was silvery not gun metal, got home definitely didn’t match, the manufacture moved and changed paint? Anyway got another new wheel, I kept my cool the manager appreciated it, I’m the guy who brings them in off the car also to avoid any troubles.
Brother I want to ask that if the painting is waterborne painting & the damage is only at corner side of door then the painting will be done to full door or it can be done in corner (upto 50% ) only . Will the joint be visible or it got matched ?
Hey, what’s up Gunny that 1k primer is that a lacquer based one? Unrelated to that I’ve sprayed waterborne before and ran into some of the aforementioned problems. I didn’t wait long enough for it to dry and the sandpaper gouged the paint horribly it turned into longer than expected deal. Thanks 👍
I’ve been doing body/prep work for a little over a year. I recently started working for a new shop that is teaching me to paint. They only use waterborne cromax paint. The previous painter I worked for used solvent. He was ok with me using 800 grit/red scotch brite. At the shop I’m at now. I was told waterborne will not cover 800/red scotch brite scratches? Is this true ?
Hey mate, yeah I've got a few more than I need, just email me at thegunmanraw@gmail.com let me know what your budget is and what gun you'd prefer and I'll get back to you
Google search 2020 new module blue devilbiss gti pro lite day of the dead spray gun. I was checking prices on dv1 again and seen it on the search. I have a screen shot. They put a skull in between the guns instead of ur face.
Howdy gunman, I have some exciting news. Check my channel to see my beast fire up, but now that she runs and has no leaks, IT'S TIME FOR BODYWORK!!!! The engine bay has been shaved and painted in a million coats of 2k black, so have the aprons and inner fenders, front crash support. Now my focus is on the body. I've got a couple small spots to weld up, A gallon kit of SPI dark grey epoxy, a box of supplies, and a lot of energy to get this thing grinded, welded, hammered out and sealed. Will be laying some 3m platinum ontop, and evercoat rage ultra. Finishing up with SPI high build primer. My only snag is I haven't picked a blue. Thanks for keeping my ass on track over all these years man! I was watching your stuff back when I primed a hood with the air cap sideways. Rock on man!
I love my DeVilbiss GTi pro lite still. But you can hardly go wrong with either DeVilbiss SATA or Iwata. Best place to get them online is spraygunsdirect.co.uk
Gotta watch the insurance companies and customers they all want the best job for the cheapest price, if you get into the race to the bottom like plenty of other contractors have done you end up destroying your own name and your business.
Lol, I laugh in the face of people who tell me it's hard to find good help. I tell them that I've found the reality to be that nobody wants to PAY for good help.
Do you really mean 1K primer ? Is 1K primer compatible with water based (modern) paints. I thought 1K primer dies with acrillic painting and everything, including primer was 2K now. Is clear water based as well?
It's an approved product. They've came a long way since old acrylic primers. It's a 1k etch primer, not to be applied heavily to get fill, just as a primer surfacer. Clears are still 2k.
1k primer 'dries' rather than 'cures'. It dries a lot faster than 2k will cure and is ideal as a quick fix if you happen to cut through a 2k primer. Not all 1k primers are suitable for 2k topcoats so make sure you get one that is. It's only the base colour that is water (or solvent) based, the clear is still 2k, although there are many different variants (Low VOC, Medium Solids, High Solids etc)
Happy Easter everyone, hope you're all staying safe.
Stay safe bro
Trying to stay calm in the midst of all the chaos. Cheers man hope you and the fam are well.
Thanks Gunny, wish you God safe your family and homies

I watch the rants and commentary. It’s the best! Learn something every time
I love the coffee rants! I might add it takes self awareness to realize the coffee is kicking in. Lol
Drongos? I gotta use that somehow... love it!
Excellent work from start to finish.

Hello I watch from Brazil. Beautiful work. Congratulations. Here in Brazil it is difficult to find good painters
The one and only problem I find with your videos man is that they're fucking addicting! Hehe! Good job man, keep 'em coming!
🤘🤣🤘 cheers mate!!
Happy easter to you too gunny. Loving them chicken legs in mustard socks. After sanding those legs must have looked ready for the fryer.
😂🤣😂
Gunman live the video
If you want to have a flat clear, get rid of the interface pad as it is designed to preserve the original structure/orangepeal of the clearcoat.
While you're not wrong, that is a bit more risky as you might cut through. But also, he's not trying to make it perfectly flat. It's just to knock it down a bit so he can spray his clear to match the rest of the orange peel on the car.
nice work looks great
Thanks gunny great vids stay safe👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Very informative thanks
Those sanding sponges look like the Colad ones I get from my local supplier. Medium is about 240 grit, Fine is about 500 and superfine around 800.
I've never used the Colad ones but they are great, cheap and last a long time.
Very good job
Happy easter
Guarantee job always
My go to for paint advise. Keep them coming. Is the FLG-5 appropriate for water borne paints? Are there any modifications that are required?
I've used mine for waterborne and it was totally fine. No special adjustments required
Hi mate, got a paint job for you when you land back in Vic and find your feet

Gotta watch the insurance companies and customers they all want the best job for the cheapest price, if you get into the race to the bottom like plenty of other contractors have done you end up destroying your own name and your business.
You can choose any 2 out of 3 options; fast, cheap, quality
