    Hi Gunny, being able to lay down a glassy flat finish when you need to and a very peeley finish is a sign of a professional painter but it must go against the grain for a painter like yourself when you have to put on a bad finish. Your painting skills are second to none Sir👏🙏👍John UK

    Awesome vid and very helpful. Especially for collision work. I needed that as well.
    I can get very good flat finish, but to achieve factory peel have not practiced much.

    nice finish on that
    when you look back at new cars in the early 70's HQ etc the finish was quite poor from factory
    lots of orange peel
    the newest clear i used is amazing compared to the old dulon acrylics
    the system has changed so much in the last 40 yrs

    I’m cutting and buffing my clear coat I sprayed a few days ago I hand sanded with 2000 then 3000 trizac on a DA then 5000 and on to a easy buff only to see pig tails brand new paper I don’t even understand how 3000 could leave pig tails the dark blue shows everything! Thanks for your great content your videos are what made me get a Pro lite .

    Hi Gunnie, I too have a pro lite with TE20, what tips / settings would you have for achieving the flattest finish with liquid glass? Or should I just get the T110

    most cars if not all have orange peal some colors are worse then others. its there for a reason to hide blemishes its trade painting in uk its simply called grip and rip 1 semi coat or very thin. then 1 full coat. the paint should match the orange peal we not looking for flat finishes. using satajet 1.2RP HS clear medium activator 5% thinners

    I can say loved the learning experience i had working with gunny. A book of knowledge in the trade. Better then going to tech school. Haha funny you say this i use to always get a peely finish but now i know how to spray correctly, would be hard to go back to having to spray a peely coat of clear. The brain wouldn't want to allow it 😅😅

    hey boss, can I use reducer 10% on fast/air dry clear coats? I`m struggling to find a good clear to work with at my garage without baking and not having to wait 2 days to get it fully dried.

    No such things as rambling, when an expert is talking. Everything you are saying, is important, to someone. Even though you may be repeating or think it is not relevant, someone (me many times :) will glean something. And I always do Gunny. I hate to say it, but your "crappy" orange peel, still looks stunning. Ha ha ha. Great Vid Mate!!

    Thumbs up...
    Funny thing is this video helped me realize what I was doing wrong while trying to get a good finish. As you were going throu the steps I was thinking, thats what I do evey time... 🤣😅
    This kind of video helps more then when you are told just what to do right insted of realizing what you are doing wrong.
    Great video, thanks.
    Keep making great content, cheers mate 🍻

    Not so much with clear over base but i really struggle to make 2k ( traditional 2k) look good. Always has a slight orange peelish finish. Dont have a decent booth at work, no temp, basicc fan etc. I watch many vids but i still cant seem to get it good. Sadly ive been doin it for many years. Not cars but panels, Furniture etc... the bigger my panels the worse the finish.
    **nb** i think ill try little higher pressure, slightly lighter first coat and see how it turns out.

    This is why i won't paint correct a car ever again. If the paint is too perfect, you'll have to do a hell of a lot of work to match the finish if you have to repaint a panel.

    I use the t110 for my flat finish and a tight peel, if I do a bmw or something along these lines, I use the te20 and lower the pressure to get that shitty peel, works a treat for me like that but hurts my eyes to do such a thing!!

    If only someone with your understanding painted my Mazda 😅
    From factory my soul red is quiet orange peely
    Had it fixed under insurance. Don't get me wrong the paints match very well but there is literally no peel in it so front of my car is glass and rest is peel🤦

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  7 місяців тому +1

      To be fair on that poor painter, the only way to make Mazda's look right is to not put enough paint on, they must do it to save a couple of dollars, it's nearly impossible to put that little paint on while painting a 3 stage. I don't know if your car is a 3 stage, but I can guarantee the repaired section will last much longer than the factory paint too. Mazda's are one of the worst for paint quality, it's less important in areas with low UV index, Perth was a shocker for faded Mazda and Honda's

    • @isaacscarll9867
      @isaacscarll9867 7 місяців тому

      Yeah I remember one of your vids you said the only way you'd buy a Mazda was if you would respray it yourself 😅

    Matching Orange peel? Gunny. Mate.
    Op is a coating fault why would you create one for ascetics? Great dedication to the finish I guess, but maybes not needed.

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  7 місяців тому +2

      You don't want it to be obvious that some parts were painted separately. You want the whole car to have a uniform finish, for better or worse

    • @LTVoyager
      @LTVoyager 7 місяців тому

      Because you want the entire car to look original and not refinished. And you might want to look up ascetic as it doesn’t mean what you think.
