    Nothing quite like the sound of a Merlin engine. If I could get one put under the bonnet of my car I so would!

      If you did, you would have to turn the horn into the theme song!

      Why? You wouldn't be able to use it on the road, you'd just be making a lot of noise, emissions and a huge dent on your bank account.

    Idk why, but seeing bombers being attacked while tail sitting instead of diving passes makes me die a little inside. I think it’s got to do with the amount of times my engine got shot when I did that.

      'Aces High' penned for the film - The Battle of Britain by Ron Goodwin and Sir William Walton and one of the most popular martial musical scores ever written.
      .
      Originally composed to represent the Luftwaffe and thus was called 'The Luftwaffe March', but was later renamed - 'Aces HIgh' to be more egalitarian, regardless of alligiances.
      .
      The composition evokes the very essence of arial warfare, with quiet passages to denote 'lack of action' then the main theme representing the dog fighting, with trumpets signifying the machine-gun rattles of the battle.
      .
      A superb piece of music and perfect for the film itself.

Of course, this part of the score is the main theme and as such represents the RAF during that conflict, with the opening sequence music (not on this recording) representing the Axis forces...

    RECUERDO MUY BIEN ESA PELÍCULA DE LOS 60 TAS. Y LA HISTORIA NOS DICE QUE EFECTIVAMENTE HUBO UNA BATALLA AÉREA ENTRE LA RAF VS LUFWAFFE. PERO LO UNICO QUE NO ENCAJA AQUÍ ES QUE EL SPITFIRE NO ES DE LA 1RA VERSION Y MUCHO MENOS ME-109. DE ALLÍ LA ANIMACION Y LA MUSICA MUY BIEN. NADA MAS CUIDEN ESOS PEQUEÑOS DETALLES

      I thought that as well until I looked it up. Turns out there was one squadron, 19 Squadron, that were fitted with a pair of Hispano 20mm in 1940 in addition to four .303 Brownings, designated Mk1b. They actually saw combat in BoB, however they had too many problems because the size of both the canon and the drum magazine meant the weapon had to be mounted on its side. They would often jam after just a few rounds and even if only one jammed, the off centre recoil from just one firing would cause all kinds of stability issues and reduce accuracy significantly. They solved the problem by November 1940 and four .303 Brownings with two 20mm canons became the standard fit for the Mk1b.
      Awesome work on the vid, nothing beats the sound of a Merlin engine. Been lucky enough to hear quite a few in the real world and it always gives me a warm and fuzzy glow when I hear it.

    Jolly good show! That track could have been written for the Spit. Now stand by for comments from a squadron of smartarses about "wrong type of Spitfire!" Tally ho!
    Now do one on the Mosquito using Ron Goodwin's other classic track (until it gets taken down for abusing the copyright on the music track).

    Yeah... right... MkIXc Spitfire's... flying in the B.o.B??? WRONG. They were Mk1/Mk1a/MkIIa... and they were wearing the RAF Dark Earth/RAF Dark Green/Sky or Black on the port side wing and White on the Starboard-side wing with Silver fuselage - underside. Three - bladed propellers. Rectangular radiator under yhe starboard-side wing and smaller, thinner, rounded oil - cooler under tbr port - side wing. Eight .303 MG's... no 20mm Hispano until early 1941 which 1st appeared on thr MkIIb... As for the "G" Model Bf109's... and the paint scheme on those Ju88 underside's... this is typical of the pan handling that people are able to get away with on social media. And gamer mentality at it's finest, TOTALLY inaccurate, reckless and a near on insult to the actual "Few" and the machines they fought in. I coild go on, but I wont. As a student of this particular aircraft and it's history, I'm bummed by this. At 59 year's young, and having had family who flew with 460 Sqdn in Bomber Command and as a young man who actually sat in many a pub on trips to England and drank many a beer snd spent many hours talking to and listening to some of these men who actually did go on to fly various Marque's of the Spitfire, this is sad - sack. Mind regards from Sydney mate :)

    • @jordie-fly439
      @jordie-fly439  2 роки тому

      Crikey mate, it's just a video made with a game using the Battle of Britain theme tune, no offense intended. Both my grandparents served at RAF Warboys (Lancasters) during the second World War.

    • @christiankirkwood3402
      @christiankirkwood3402 2 роки тому

      @@jordie-fly439 Yeah cool. What do you think 460 Sqdn flew... gaming console's? My father did his 40 in a Lancaster Mk1... If your going to post THAT theme music and then show MkIXc Spitfire's, what do you expect? I really don't get it, because I don't game - play and when I hear that, there is already a great post showing clips from the 1969 movie... which actually HAD to resort to using a few MkIXc Spitfire's minus the 20mm Hispano Barrels, given 3 - bladed propellers and repainted in period correct colour schemes. I build scale model aircraft, 95% warbirds and there are a couple of renowned manufacturers doing the Mk1 variations. It's a fair enough thing to aspire to in that in a weird way, your post is an homage, but it's not a good fit with the Marque and the theme... sorry, that's my opinion based on a lifetime invested in the history. To me it's just more gamer mentality fiction and these platform's are historically inaccurate mate. That's what your portraying.

    • @jordie-fly439
      @jordie-fly439  2 роки тому

      I dont really get why you're being so hostile, that's what I dont get. I expected people just to enjoy a piece of gaming footage of an extremely well modelled Spitfire LF.MkIX with a fabulous piece of music in the background. It's not a documentary.
      You've never played it, doubt you've even heard of DCS before, but you know it's historically inaccurate?
      How was I supposed to know your old man flew in Lancasters, 460 Sqdn also operated Wellingtons and the Halifax.

    • @christiankirkwood3402
      @christiankirkwood3402 2 роки тому

      @@jordie-fly439 No hostility here mate, it's critique... I don't live under a rock - in I'm aware of DCS, being a proud uncle to 4 nephew's and a niece aged from 14 to 22, as well as my 3 daughter's aged 26, 28 & 30, I also mentor adolescent kid's by accommodating them and on day - care basis, teaching them surfing, boxing, hands - on work skills around our family farms, animal care and native wildlife repatriation... time behind the screen is earned, but you'd be surprised how many decent kid's are messed up by too much rime behind a screen on their own & fair enough, with the Covid-19/Delta lockdown in place currently gripping many of us here in Australia, particularly along the east coast of NSW, it's fair enough to spend more time than usual at the screen. My own family have a lot of fun with my take on gaming and there is a massive irony in that I've spent SO much money setting them up with avant garde, state of the art gaming setups from Xbox, Nintendo to PlayStation to computer's running several screen's. Just because it's not my thing, doesn't mean I know jack about the culture and fun of gaming.... therein lay the in - house, in - situ humour thst is in constant session and this demographic in my family are indeed, vital in helping me with thing's like 3-D printing technology for my hobby needs as well as all sorts of practical and technical information such as structural thing's like riveting diagrams anf all sorts of practical knowledge that assists my build's, so I've got my head around it enough to allow me an opinion when it comes to a post that even my nephew's thought were LF/MkIXc being depicted in a B.o.B scenario... they in fact were the one's who forwarded it asking the question... such is their awareness. Yes, I'm aware of a tbe fact that 460 Sqdn operated the Wellington and Halifax, as did other Squadron's before the Lancaster became the mainstay, my father trained in the Wellington, but his total of 40 mission's were completed in two different Mk1's, I have his logbook and photo's of Cologne, Dresden, Frankfurt, Essen, Berlin... ablaze, taken through the bombsight along with many other photo's, medals and assorted memorabilia we are considering donating to the A.W.M. in Canberra... So, please accept my critique WITHOUT your hostility, you post something that on one hand I did observe as an homage, yet it is you old mate who have taken offence - this edit REALLY does come off as a depiction of the B.o.B a d that's fair enough, you seem to know your history, so I apologize and do admire the depiction of the awesome Spitfire and the Axis aircraft depicted, however we've established that what we see does belong to a much later period in the air - war. My old man would get a hoot out of it and so woild many of the men I used to socialize with, some of who flew Spitfire's of various type's. Something to ponder on a closing note. My dad didn't get into the nuts & bolts of his experience, suffice to say, he offered this one up often. "Every Op's, someone you knew, someone you ate with, played cards with, drank with... never came back". No malice or otherwise "hostile" intent here, to the contrary, so rather, thank you for post, it is petty cool :)
