Yes, I watched "633 Squadron" when it came out, as a boy. too. That piece of music composition, borrowed from "The Battle of Britain" movie, still thrills me. Tho' I was the Asst. Shop Chief of The Weapons Control Systems Calibration Dock, 35th AMS, 35th TFWg, George AFB, CA 1977 - 1980, I grew up in a cosmos of WW2 kit aircraft, Testors' paints and glue, and wet transfer decals!!
The Canadian INTRUDER squadron group 418 RCAF in WWII was the highest-scoring Canadian Squadron of World War II. It flew Intruder missions deep into Germany, Poland and Denmark to attack aircraft and airfields hundreds of miles behind the front lines.
Thanks! This was actually intentional as the AI in DCS currently have a very simple physics model which allows them to pull some insane manoeuvres! Setting them to not drop their tanks helps balance them against human players somewhat.
How has this fantastic Cinematic Beautiful work not got at least 500,000 Views?, Awesome Production and editing. The Colour desaturation really gives that old film effect perfectly. It makes a nice change to see fantastic External F2 shots in a DCS Movie in contrast to the glut of Boring Cockpit views. Love the Coms chat too. Keep em coming
It was better than Top Gun 2. It reminded me of good old movies like Battle of Britain or Tora, Tora, Tora. You edited it so well, selected music, voices. Also editing and working with the camera. And of course Mossi in the lead role.
@@cmdrfurai9939 Thanks! We play a game called Mustangs & Messershmitts that uses 1/72 scale aircraft Currently we are working on no. 315 squadron RAF.. they escorted the mosquitoes on the Arhaus raid in October 1944.. your videos are very inspirational and we will be building at least six mosquitoes for the raid after we get our Mustangs done, of course 😉 There is some videos of the game on my channel. Enjoy.
Deserves far more views. That shot of the Mosquitoes going in for the bombing run over the river gave me goosebumps. Its always so impressive to me when you can really convey the speed of these aircraft. I work at a museum where we are restoring three Mosquitoes and this makes me very happy haha
Well done. Thoroughly engaging and very realistic. Only criticism would be the English accents for the P51 pilots and the Mosquito pilots looked like mice!
Glad you enjoyed it. So this was actually a mission flown by us for fun, I just made it into a video afterwards, hence the English accents. We're not voice actors by any means! I can't do anything about the mossie pilots, that's what they look like in DCS!
Brilliant work! But don't ever let me catch you doing a victory roll over my airfield ever again. Suppose your controls had been damaged, hmm. You'd have been spread all over the damn field like strawberry jam, Never again, clear!
That was a great piece of work, the only thing I can add regarding authenticity is the approach over the channel would have probably been low level to avoid early radar detection and coastal anti aircraft fire.👍
Haha thanks! Genuinely flew with one engine for about 30 mins, didn’t think I’d make it! I had to edit most of that down though, otherwise it would’ve been a very long, boring video haha.
I have seen two different versions of how the crew was seated in this aircraft. Sometime it shows them seared side by side, and sometime it shows them seated off set. Which is right?
As far as I know, the right hand seat was always offset slightly rearward of the left hand pilots seat, initially to allow enough space for the bombardier to be able to crawl forward into the nose for bomb aiming, as the Mossie was originally designed as an unarmed fast bomber. I think the offset design was retained on later variants to save the time and cost of modifying the existing design. Some later training variants have dual flight controls and the right seat was moved forward to allow an instructor to reach the dual rudder pedals/stick, but the vast majority of Mossies had the offset right seat.
Get together with some friends and fly 🙂. It’s that simple. There are plenty of DCS communities around. I recommend 4YA. They have a discord and everyone is very friendly.
Why were the Bf 109's attempting to dogfight with their centre line fuel tanks still attached? They would have been better jettisoning them before commencing their attack.
Someone else has already asked this in the comments so I’ll just copy and paste my reply to that comment: This was actually intentional as the AI in DCS currently have a very simple physics model which allows them to pull some insane manoeuvres! Setting them to not drop their tanks helps balance them against human players somewhat.
There’s no script haha. Just the SRS comms from when we flew the mission. I just used the comms and footage from the sortie we flew. But yeah, trying to get out of the habit of using modern terminology is difficult.
Not at sea level, and especially not with a high fuel load to get to Belgium and back. Plus these are 109K’s, the ‘ultimate’ version, so they are very quick, basically as quick and a bit quicker than the much older (1941) mossie.
@@paulbavington7498 that’s cool that your uncle flew one. A mossie could definitely outrun a contemporary 109 (E and F models) but not a late war K model. The FBVI had a reinforced wing to facilitate drop tanks and underwing bombs so was heavier than the bomber and NF variants. Also the myth that two kills were awarded for a Mossie is just that. It’s believed the Germans had a form of points scoring based on the aircraft shot down, but a kill was still a kill. More likely the points system was twisted to aid British propaganda.
@paul Beauregard Yeah whatever Dude You obviously have no appreciation of quality film making and to be honest anyone who has to write comments entirely in capitals cant be taken seriously. DCS is obviously too sophisticated for You and I think Minecraft would suit You better as its very childish and Blocky just like Your Grammar.
IRL RAF pilots wore them all the time as they contained the microphone for communication, and also if you do need to climb above 10,000 feet then you don’t want to be fiddling with a mask in a cold, noisy, cramped environment. In this mission we were at 12,000 feet before the attack, so the masks would’ve been used. And again, the pilots wouldn’t be fiddling to get their mask off during combat. Also the mossie pilot model in DCS always has it on, you can’t change it in game. So not silly really.
wonderful video, it's like watching a movie, Hollywood-style
I remember watching "633 Squadron" back in the 60's with my dad when it came out. (my dad was a RLP as I later became at age 18)
I thought i recognized the music, it is from "633 Suadron." Also George Lucas used some of the scenes and diolouge for "Star Wars."

What a well written Cinematic, loved the comms and sound effects!
Thank you so much!
The 633 sqn music, the battle of britain references, the action scenes etc etc, this has it all! Well bloody done!
I saw the thumbnail for this mission, and the first thing that popped into my head "man, the 633 Squadron Theme would be JUST Great for this vid".
That certainly captured the feel of 633 squadron, the external Mossie scenes were spot on. Well done.
Thanks very much! Yes this was very heavily 633 squadron inspired!

Amazing! Love this type of content! Wish more DCS players would make these. Well done boys.
Its like a WW2 movie with all the good parts. Good job.
Awesome work! Most 109s were quick to get rid of drop tanks before engagement though! Excellent project!

Thoroughly enjoyed that. Very realistic, and appropriate the amount of work that this production takes.👏👏👏👏👏👏
Well done chaps. It just had to be 633 Squadron theme music 👍. Red Leader gets the beers in for getting his kite shot up! 😉😀😄. Nice landing though😁
Great movie and no horrible slushy bit with girls and kissing. It did miss a Labrador and MG Sports car but still a cracking movie.

It looks better than the real footage lol man thats amazing ...

Good show chaps , successful operation, gave Jerry what for 👍
With that music you just can't go wrong. 👍
Well done excellent use of BoB german theme and the RAF "Help yourself everyone, there's no fighter escort"!
You get an A for effort, but a D for historical accuracy.
I’ll take that 😅. We weren’t trying to be too accurate. It was just a fun mission we ran and I made a video out of it.
Fantastic work..loved it
Excellent. And I recognize that soundtrack.
Felt like I was watching Star Wars. No big surprise considering how WW2 heavily influenced the movies

Love the nostalgia feel. Next time use American for the voice acting for the Mustangs for added realism. Nice work!
None of us do a particularly good American accent so it’s probably better we don’t try 🤣. We’ll just say they were RAF pilots seconded to the USAAF 😉
Or Spitfires instead of Mustangs, real Britis icon in the air.😊
Well, the RAF did use Mustangs too
Bloody good show ol' chap !
