I think you handled that like a real man, Chris. You said exactly what you thought of the razor and gave your reasons, but you had no qualms at all with saying that it was smoother than the R41. Keep it up!
I appreciate that. There was no doubt about it, the tribute was a smoother and more comfortable shaver. There were a few minor wonky things about packaging and perhaps advertising, but it is a good shaver.
Nice shave my friend, I hope I can catch up with the videos and maybe make some videos of my own. It’s always good to hear your honest opinion on things. I have a lot of Stirling products but I will order some glacial scents for the summer. Have a great day and future shaves.
Chris, I know you for a while and I'm positive that you are an honest human being and a gentleman. Thanks for your videos and input to traditional shaving enthusiasts community.😎👌
Great and honest review, just a few things I wannt to clear up. We are an over reviewed company. We started out with $1. At the time that was all of the money I had! My passion is product development. I am an inventor by trade and the only way I could market my products was to get them reviewed, which I would NEVER pay for. It may surprise you that the R41+ is made alongside Parker razors, in the exact same factory! The quality is not as good as the Muhle, I agree, but the razor will still last a lifetime. All of our razors come with a lifetime warranty, I believe that the Muhle comes with 6 months, but I am not 100% certain on that. Finally about packaging, we are an ecommerce only company, so we do not need fancy packaging. If I start to wholesale the razors to other dealers, the packaging may improve. I think that you made such a huge deal out of the fit and finish. That of course is your opinion and that is why I submit my products for review, to improve. I would like you to review a few other razors that we make. I enjoy your critiques, let's face it, whatever people think you are, that is exactly what you are! Sheldon
Thanks Sheldon. I have to mention the fit and finish and the packaging because it's important to a lot of people. With the cost of your razor and the Muhle being so similar (to the door cost) it's something people will consider. When it came to the actual shave your razor was the clear winner for me though. It was smoother and more pleasant to use. I'll be using it more in the future and comparing it to other razors. It's one of the smoother high efficiency razors I've used.
Nice comparison Chris. Anyway you slice it, the prices are reasonable and provide shavers with options. I agree what matters is the cost in the market to the buyer. MSRP is a tricky thing with the R41 since it is different by region and not clearly defined. Anyways, what matters is the shave. Glad you liked it. Steve
Well said! You're right, options are the key here. I know some folks don't like the marketing of Global Shave but I do like that he's bringing options to the table. People can buy or not as they please. I never complain about having too many options.
I think you are right about the comb being the issue, In Gillette's website one can see how if the blades on carts were further apart to prevent clogging then the skin would bounce back and take the second blade full on, which is why the skin guard has a guard in between blades to maintain the skin pressed down. I imagine that it is the same with an open comb the skin is not held down as uniformly as with a safety bar, or an scalloped design, and then again the tribute razor having more blade exposure makes sense since it is to make up the efficiency they gave up on the bar, and the result seems to hold up well based on your experience.
The teeth were the only thing I could identify that would make the Muhle slightly less comfortable. I think that's what it is but I'm not 100% sure. The Tribute was smoother and more comfortable for me though, there's no doubt about that.
Could not agree more re your comments on stirling soap. Premium quality and a reasonable price for a larger than average amount. Great variety of scents to boot.
Good honest reviews , like it or lump it , always , no matter what the product , good honest reviews . You have to love Stirling , no matter what the flavor . I don’t have any glacial yet .
When I want an aggressive yet smooth shave, I reach for my R41+ Tribute. Two passes with a cleanup pass equals bbs. No cuts, nicks or weepers. Of course, as with all aggressive razors, prep, lather & technique must be proper. Good job, Sheldon.
I appreciate your honest reviews and think that’s really important. I’m looking forward to trying Stirling soaps soon, just a shame that they’re a bit more expensive here in the UK, but seem to have a really impressive range
Thanks very much for the kind words, I really appreciate it. I also wish things could get there at a cheaper price. Sadly international shipping is quite expensive.
Hi Brian, I just thought to mention that Dave at Shaving Time, which is a UK website, sells Stirling at a very reasonable price. Perhaps you know already. Cheers.
I do not have near the wet shaving experience that you have, but I believe the way you describe the difference between the two razors with the open comb teeth vs the closed comb head, is why I dislike open comb heads and believe only have one and it is a hybrid, with one side open and one side closed. I get a rough feel from open comb heads and choose not to use them.
Excellent shave Chris. I figured that it was the teeth of the Muhle R41 that caused me issues. That is my favorite soap from Stirling and I'm currently on my 2nd puck of it.
I can't guarantee it is but in using them side by side the Tribute felt better. I can only attribute the difference to the teeth of the Muhle. It's a really good soap, I agree with you on that.
Thank you for your honest reviews. I think that is really important for everybody! For the customer AND the producer, at least if he wanna get better, THAN he knows where problems might be! I everybody says everything is fine when it isn't than there would not be a possibility to improve! For me as an German i would go for the Mühle, that is pretty clear. But i am not cause i prefer smooth shavers. I like the Yaqi Beast so i would be interested in a comparison! Thanks for the video!
The Muhle is still a great shaver for sure. This tribute seems to be a little more comfortable for me to shave with though. That said, I won't be getting rid of my Muhle as it's a legendary razor and one you can really measure other razors with high aggression to. It sort of sets the benchmark for high aggression.
I was blonde, now older and a mix of blonde, gray and white. Every day more the latter. Add winter pasty white skin and yeah a days growth doesn't show like a dark hair person. Face to face it looks bad to be unshaven. I appreciate the honest view of the razor. 👍👍👍
Thanks J.R., you're 100% correct. I've been showing the daily growth just so there's absolutely no doubt. Every now and then I'll get some silly comment alleging that I'm not shaving anything. Case closed! Thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate it.

In the end it is ones personal experience and preference that plays the most important role in deciding which razor to buy or not to buy.

Merkur's come with their own house brand blades, and rarely do people sing praise for that shave combination. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Hey man, hope you feel better soon. I'm trying to get over a real sore throat and fever as well. Luckily I've been able to suppress any coughing. Get well!
I'm wishing you well also. It's been a struggle dealing with the cough and cold but at least I haven't had very many coughing fits on video:)
In Kevy Shaves last video called "second chance challenge video" he is using a r41, and he said some German ppl he knows told him Muhle is pronounced like moo-la. Lol I know I've been pronouncing it wrong too 😁
It's a tough one for native english speakers, that's for sure:)
i mean you can hear the hair being cut. how is there not hair? lol
This is an old video so I cannot remember what I said. I'm guessing someone complained about no hair being there. If this is the case, you're right. It's there and it's being cut:)
