I really hope you do like the PGA did and gave free content on UA-cam. Not everyone has SKY so if as it is to be believed golf is struggling for numbers even after the Tiger win, then put out free content from the US Open. Look at what the USPGA did last week, absolutely amazing content. The world is watching.
@@Charles13033 true but rusty tiger was defitnely not good enough, so seeing potentially alot more practice being put in could yield a much better score, though I do agree this will be more difficult
I think he will play a little better though , I think the only reason he played bad at bethpage was because after his masters win he didnt play a tourney until PGA championship so like u said he was a little rusty so hopefully he will ay again before this tourney so he wont be rusty again
They did this aerial filming well before they started narrowing the fairways and growing the rough. For example, the left half of 8th fairway is now deep rough. They started narrowing the fairways the week before Thanksgiving...2017! They did it early to prepare for the US Amateur 2018. They also shaved off all the rough collars that saved the ball from rolling into bunkers or water hazards. For the US Amateur, won by Viktor Hovland from Norway (playing for OSU), the fairways were the exact same fairways as they will be for the US Open this year, except the rough was standard resort-height (about 2" max). After the US Amateur they kept the narrow but shaved fairways and the short rough and used those for the 2019 AT&T Pro-Am, which Phil easily won. Pebble Beach merely kept the same fairways and all they had to do was grow in the rough, which they started doing a couple months before the 2019 US Open. I am 100% certain of this because I work here.
@James Fondren I don't remember that in particular. I remember that Viktor was solidly in the middle of the medal qualifiers and was not in the playoff.
Way too much going on in these clips. Less text and more focus on the course. Not only do you get dizzy trying to read the text but you miss seeing what the course even looks like.
I played here a month or so ago. And holy hell the fairways are not nearly as wide as this video shows. No 8 was about 1/3 of that width, and rough grown in from the left so it forced a tee shot up the right along the rocks. Way tougher than its making it look.
@@harrybrown6014 it was my first time playing there. That one didn't stick out to me so obviously like #8 did. But yeah the whole course in general you could see where fairways were way tighter
I think Phil will win because ,,,,,,,, he has won there 5 times in his career he really knows the course so well and by the way he has won at pebble more times than anyone in the history of the pga
maybe not, course seems punishing if you even hit slightly off with driver. Doesn't seem like a course you can just try to overpower, so i think the winner maybe be someone unexpected, kinda of like wild car. i dont think any of the long hitters will be able to dominate this course. but who knows, maybe a 3 peat is possible /\_0_/\ And the greens look like an undulating nightmare, alot of putts will be missed/misread, and deep heavy bermuda roughs should make this a nightmare for everyone.
Oh yea he probobly wouldent want to win the grand slam at any other place,, at pebble beach his fav course ever which he has won at more than all active players, he also wont have to his drivers off the tee so he will be in lots of fairways and when he is hes dangeruss like russ lol,, and his birthday is on the 3rd round, how awesome would that be to be in the lead at the us open on tour birthday
Phil plays stupid shots say more than he should, throws a pity party when his putting goes sideways, and loves his money/jetset lifestyle more than he loves being a fanatic of beating the living piss out of everyone else. All of these things I mentioned are his fault because they are psychological problems. He's always had the talent and skill set. Just not the super deep desire to be the absolute best. All the super greats only cared about one thing: winning. Not so with Phil.
@@Benderthegr865 Most of the time especially with a course as short as this. 7000 yards for the pros is nothing for them so they have to make it harder some other way
Worst thing about Pebble Beach is that you can't run it up on any of the greens and there are no "alternate" routes, so you are forced to play target golf and deal with the wind, the course's only defense. If it wasn't for the fact that it was along the ocean and that rich Californians live nearby, it wouldn't be of much note, at least not much more than the 25 or so others nearby. I've never liked the design, but I do love the setting. It's a shame they call Cypress Point too short and too crammed for a Tour event, THAT PLACE is a good design.
You must be a Millenial Derek. Cypress Point used to be part of the Crosby (AT&T) event. Then Jesse Jackson got the media to shame all golf clubs who didn't have any women members. Commis Deane Beman told Cypress Point to get a woman member. Cypress Point told Beman to walk. Thus the tour got Poppy Hills for the 3rd course.
@@harrybrown6014 - I'm aware that's part of the issue. The Crosby also didn't have 55,000+ spectators and the sponsor tents of today. If Cypress could legitimately hold a major they wouldn't turn down the $$$$ over a female member issue.
Just look at the career stats at pebble and Phil is the highest dude hes won at pebble 5 TIMES more than anyone also he won there earlier this year soooo
They pretty much always have a par 70/71 It's a 4 to 6 shot swing over the course of the week, and the usga never want low numbers at their tournament.
It's a bunch of millionaires being asked to bring their A+ game. I think they should tee it up, I think that your comment is kind of ridiculous, and I think that I am done commenting.
Two has always been made into a par 4 for the US Open, and 9's fairway is violently downhill, so there will be plenty of roll out. But regardless of that, the USGA has lost it years ago 😂
fuck how in Gods name can someone who avgs say 280 off the tee do on those long par 4s... I can say only like 6-8 players could win this shit for the open...
This is the most challenging course in all of championship golf. Players must contend with hovering Deloitte banner on hole 1 through 18.
Never get tired of playing here. Beautiful course.
This is by far Phil's best chance to complete the Grand Slam, hoping he pulls through
Deloitte coming in hot with their logo visibility and placement negotiations
irritating as hell
I played this course many times..

By far the greatest finishing hole in golf
Beautiful golf course.
Wow I'm interested to see how they set this up because this is a short course!!!!
Greens will be hard and fast I presume.
Thank you for this. course looks a lot different when the circus is not in town as Sabatini would say... Wind is a huge factor here.
A terrific video mucked up with ads and overlays. I was able to block and enjoyed it anyways.
Tiger saying he's gonna crank it up after Bethpage really is getting me excited
I dont know this course will play harder than bethpage and the fairways will be even tighter

Deloitte is the best equipment manufacturer on the game
With all the golf courses in this country; are only the same handful of courses suitable for championship golf?
gonna be interesting to see with all these long hitters. I bet they carve it up.
Steve Elkington will win the US Open with a 10 shot lead, it's his time to shine in the pebble beach sun
did Mike Davis just search for "uplifting music" and only found like 4 tracks he liked?
17th where Jack hit his famous 1-iron

Maybe they narrowed #11 because they called it narrow. Usually it is the widest fairway in Monterey.

As per normal for a US Open venue😎
Jesus these graphics made this unwatchable
There are 2 par 5’s on the front. Video has it wrong👍
In the US Open they play #2 as a par 4. So it's right
really great!
I think -5 can win it all.... Number #6 and #18 only holes to be played under par (maybe #4 too), and #2, 8, 9 and 10 as the toughest
The Deloitte add is too annoying.
I love the 6th hole
Thanks, very nice
if this isn't paradise, then I sure hell don't know what is!

we can mute the sound a bit since no one is talking, but the sponsor graphic is way too in your face. Screw Deloitte.

I hope the USGA will protect the course, with HIGH rough, tough pins and quick, hard greens.
I thought the rough was going to be really high but it looks about half the length it was at the PGA championship last week
They probably had to make this video a while back, so the rough hopefully will be US Open quality come championship time.
Horrible music and too many graffics.
