      Yeah I haven't seen him try those dead-handed knockdown shots much before. He seems to have a handle on them, and they should come in handy at a windy British Open course.

    I remember thinking this would probably be the last title Phil would win. But I was wrong as we recently found out at the 2021 PGA Championship where Lefty won his sixth major title at the age of 50. That my friends is history that may never be broken.
    Thank you for the video highlights.

      @@gendaminoru3195 Shame. As a 49yr old, he's quite the inspiration (I'm 2 years older) but having so many uber-focussed young guns (mostly free from the burdens of presence and personality... IMHO) in the field, must be tough to play against. We need more Phils in the game! :-)

    • @gendaminoru3195

      and they seemed to rub off on him a little bit. Phil lost so many opportunities yesterday with robotic approach shots that spun back too far. And another couple of complete mental lapses off the tee at 18 was just like that 1.5 ft par putt he whapped at and missed.

    • @deldridg
      @deldridg 5 років тому

      @@gendaminoru3195 Yes - robotic is the word. Perhaps part of the appeal of Woods is that he does show fire when he's on song. Too much pure 'professionalism' is unlikely to draw admiration like fire and personality does (cue some well known robotic tennis players..., although here in Aust we are rather embarrassed about a certain highly unprofessional pair!). :-)

    Tuesday.just watched extended highlight like 4 5 mins or something. (latest) it was all round for .it was nice to see a couple of bogeys & saves out of the rough 10 ? the short downhill par three ? remember that hole thru the years.you know golf! The way Phil struggled a litt let & persevered.CONQUERED the golf course ! The best player by far

      it cut me off.cool & windy & wet.it was time for Phil to rise.tough playing conditions.taking something off the irons keeping them under the wind while taking into account the trajectory & release of the ball.the seasoned vet? Yes but Phil has been frequently rising to these occasions his whole career.# 44th win shoulda been 47 or more according to the old stats they told me a few years back.the putting ? phenomenal putting.snails pace wet slow greens.Now we need YOU PHIL 😠 to take into account the different course this time out adjust it the way we know you're going too.conditions green speed.didnt ✓ out the stats strokes gain putting chipping driving & EVERYTHING else.& REPEAT the process this week PHIL FOR PRES 😀⛳ 🏑🐲 Jeff ( Phil fan )

      The Masters is a big ball park. Phil's driving is looking like it did in 2004-2010 when he was among the longest. He can hit bombs and as long as he is just off fair way, even in pine stray and Pine Trees, Phil can shape shots and hit recovery shots. He knows where to put the ball on the Green or miss it just off the green where he can scramble. I think he has a legit shot at the Masters. U.S. Open I think he can win, but I want to see how he is driving the ball a few weeks before, is he using clubs 5-wood, Hybrid, 2-Iron and putting it in the fairway. Even with those clubs, Phil can sometimes stray off line off the tee. That will be key. Just give me 8-9 FW hit per round at U.S. Open and no 40 yards off line.

    it was a good trny for phil and he deserved the win ,,,,,,, sadly and i do not care how much rough they add to this course it will still be a mundane us open simply because it has to all come down to putting like this trny did ............. i would like to see them play the us open where they play the honda classic with all theoose water holes and make it a lil harder and hopefully you would end up with bigger lead changes and so on but thats just me ........... i realise there is a big ocean on one side and they will lengthen the rough and tighten the fairways there just isnt enough lakes trees moguls island holes and so on .

      You know, Phil in principle was correct. The USGA screwed up again last year at the U.S. Open. I know his story he did postgame was just trying to not show he lost his cool, but we all know what he did and why he did it. I was listening to Pat Perez on Sirius 92 with Mike Collins and he said at Pebble last week some USGA Guy asked his opinion about Shiinecock and he said he understood what Phil did, and why he did it (although he recognized Phil's post game explanation was just a cover story). Adam Scott today blast USGA. These guys should let the PGA of American or PGA Tour help them set up a Golf course. They never do. Shinecock has one of the top rated PGA Course Superintendents, he wasn't asked about what pin placements to use given weather conditions, etc. I hope the USGA doesn't screw up what could be a great US Open at Pebble beach. We will see.
