That 7th tee sign will forever be there because of our mistake 😅Always a good time out there Adam and loving the subtle additions you do for your videos that make them better each time! Until we swing again 🤙
Thanks man. When's your vid dropping?!
The return of Golf Parfection and his insanely defined calves
@@NotAScratchGolfer Its going to be a while haha. I have a backlog of videos and I try to release on a schedule as to not get ahead of myself. Wish I could upload more often!
@@nicoc2234 These kind of comments give me energy 😅
@@GolfParfection They’re not calves, they’re COWS! 💪🏼🐮
8:54 "This round of golf might need an insurance policy" 🤣
best youtuber on the planet
Haha cheers
I laughed out loud at your segue "This round of golf might need an insurance policy!"
:p
Awesome. I remember driving past there as a kid on holiday in 1981..... Met a guy in Carmel valley who new exactly where I lived in England as he had been to a local airbase in WW2....
I used your mentality on Saturday. Didn't kill it off the tees, but course was playing easy with 80 degree temps and no wind. My approach shots and putting were on point. Shot my best ever 75.
Awesome! Congrats, Johnny!
I like the cartoon-like shot tracer!
Chasing deer off the fairway while walking to the hole near the beach is fairly close to heaven in my mind.
Spanish Bay is amazing and harder then Pebble! I loved it!
Your driver swing is so similar to mine as
1:It's quite big
2:You come well round your body
The path of our swings is almost identical.
However, although both of our swings are a bit unorthodox, unorthodox swings are fine.
Cheers. I thought this was going to be an unsolicited swing coaching comment. Was pleased :)
This course looks so pure!! Love how you tried to remain positive after getting off to a bad start. Says a lot about you
1:30 Lol the transition.
Some friends and I did the Pebble/Spyglass/Spanish Bay trip last year. Spanish Bay was our favorite course of the three. Besides just the general beauty, it was the only course of the 3 where the staff treated us like they were glad to have us there. The other two were an assembly line of getting players through, but the staff at Spanish Bay treated us great.
Looks really nice!! I can imagine going from really slow greens to super slick would be tough!! Those views out there are excellent!! It's awesome that the deer just walk out there!!
That’s awesome man! Been watching a lot of your videos because I relate to a lot of your story. I had the pleasure of playing Spyglass last year and also shot an 88 but not at all upset because just playing any of the big 4 Pebble Beach golf courses is amazing!
My new favorite channel on youtube. Spanish Bay is definitely on my bucket list now. Very soothing look and feel to this course thanks to you.
Thanks so much!!
I’m a high handicapper hopping to go low some day, even the rounds that aren’t your best teach me something new about my game. You my friend along with golf sidekick are the best golfers on UA-cam, thank you for the videos :)
Appreciate the kind words, and am honored to even be mentioned in the same breath as the Playa in Chief.
@@NotAScratchGolfer no problem playa!
Beautiful golf course setting. Thanks for sharing Adam.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The voice and phrasing of “this round of golf might need an insurance policy” had me laughing hard. Sometimes golf is just more about the views than anything else
Looks like you got a gorgeous day with only moderate wind. It is a beautiful course and a real pleasure to play. Great vid.
Great video! Driving through this area during a vacation in February of 2023 inspired me to take up the game in my mid 40's. Gonna play this course one day when I have the skills and can't wait!
I played Pebble, Spyglass, and The Links at Spanish Bay a couple of years ago and agree - Spanish Bay was my favorite.
Great video as usual ! Like you I moved to the USA (NH) from Canada (PEI) and I have similar golf dreams but my golf channel sucks in comparison lol. So I’ll just live vicariously through yours. Keep up the great videos. Your channel is my go to and favorite. Kudos Adam !
I’m going to check out policy genius as well ! Thanks!
Thanks, Cam :) I've never golfed out your way (in either NH or the Maritimes). Would love to some day.
So jealous, would love to play there. Great video as always
Great point! Even if you're not playing well, you gotta enjoy such a beautiful course! Hope you had a good time bro
Thanks, Michael. Every day at Pebble Beach is one I cherish!
This was the first great course that I played and I think it will always be near the top of my favorite courses list. Such a fun one to play-I can’t imagine a better day than a sunny day at Spanish Bay. Glad that you had fun there!
Glad you enjoyed it too :D
Hi Adam, since finding your videos a few months ago, you’ve become my absolute favourite ‘UA-cam golfer’ and your video style is so entertaining and easy to watch. Keep it going! Much love from the UK
Thanks for the kind words, George.
Great video! I made the Monterey trip last year. Spyglass is the course I want when I’m on my A-game. Pebble is the most scenic/iconic but the course is out in front of you. Spanish Bay is the course I want to play over and over and over again. Plenty of shot option but it won’t drive you crazy if you aren’t playing your best.
I think this is perfectly said. I didn’t know what to expect at Spanish. The course blew me away. Would love to play it from every tee box with/without the wind howling.
Beautiful course, great caddy tip on the 16th tee!
I was stunned by how beautiful it was given that it seems to play third fiddle to PB and Spyglass. And yeah, Michael knows the game!
Great video, Adam. I'm stoked to see sponsors lining up to support the channel (and Policy Genius sounds pretty compelling). I'd be lucky to break 100 at Spanish Bay and btw, Golf Sidekick Matt landed his drive on 18 literally exactly where yours landed!
Thanks, Gordon! Haha I gotta rewatch Matt's vid. If I recall he went under par from the back tees? Crazy.
It’s such a privilege to live in the Central Valley. I’m an hour and a half away from all the Monterey and Bay Area Courses. Less than an hour from Saddle Creek. And a couple hours from the mountain courses. Love seeing you play all these local courses.
That’s awesome. Whereabouts are you exactly? And tell me about Saddle Creek…
@@NotAScratchGolfer Modesto, California. In the Central Valley. Not too many great ones around me. But ones worth checking out are The Reserve at Spanos (Lodi), Saddle Creek (renamed Copper Valley) , and Greehorn Creek (Robert Trent Jones Jr redesign).
There’s not a weak point at any of the three mentioned. Tough greens to read, long holes, tricky bunkers, unique tee boxes.
“This round of golf might need an insurance policy” 😂😂😂
I didn't think much of this course. We had played Bayonette/BlackHorse, Pebble, Spy, Poppy the previous days before my round here. Thanks for the video, I now want to go play it again with your mindset....
That's a pretty good lineup. I haven't played Bayonette/Blackhorse yet. Sounds like we both have more ground to cover!
@@NotAScratchGolfer Oh MAN....I forgot I posted this comment. My wife and I went back to the Spanish Bay hotel for our 25th (Highly recommended!!) The Spanish Bay Links is now AMAZING, I sa it completely differently this time and I cannot recommend it enough this time around. It was a great experience, conditions were incredible and the course was very fun to play. There are a couple holes that felt repeated....but its golf in Monterey on the beach...it was incredible.
Like you said ,just glad too still be here
Hey Adam, I'm playing Spanish Bay tomorrow. Thanks for posting this video, it gave me some things to think about especially around the greens.
Such a great course. Well worth a round. Glad to see it featured on your channel
Thanks, Patrick. Have you played there?
@@NotAScratchGolfer Many times. I live in the area.
another good one!
Thanks for not trying to jam this into
Thanks, Lindsay! Can't wait to play again. Those i525s should be $$$!
Lindsay I agree with you. Spanish Bay is my favorite of the Pebble courses. It truly is amazing.
Just booked my first round ever at Spanish bay coming up in March. I can’t wait.
Another great video as always, Adam. Even your putter doesn't always cooperate. It was still one hell of a day. What perfect weather you got. I'm ready for your return trip to Arizona so we can play some golf.
Thanks, Rick. And thanks for the share on FB, as well. The only rounds I've played out in AZ so far were at WeKoPa (awesome!), Ak-Chin (also awesome!), Lookout Mountain, Alta Mesa, and Wigwam. Where should we go?!
@@NotAScratchGolfer no problem. I'll host you at my course Seville Golf & Country Club and we should also get out to Gold Canyon Dinosaur Mountain, Superstition Mountain (private club) next door to GC, and Quintero Golf Club. When the time gets closer just shoot me a message and we can figure it out.
@@promoteupro You're the man, Rick. Thanks so much!
I loved playing Spanish Bay and would play there anytime in the future.
I live in the area and Spanish is my favorite of the 3. I love the views, every hole is unique, it's relatively easy to get a tee time, and it doesn't have the crazy cost of the other 2
What a gorgeous course.
I haven't played any of them, but I visited in Jan. The crazy manicure level of Pebble course is insanity - and the clubhouse/first tee area (and the ending bit) are definitely the upper shelf, but considering money spent, i'd absolutely find Spanish Bay (which looks spectacular and we got a great look at by that beach you mentioned) and is where my money would be spent if I get to play there.
We drove through the 17 mile drive and saw this course and I was in love.
best youtuber ever
honestly just great
Thanks bud
The views are spectacular!
Better in person!
Another beauty! Sadly, I've only played Spanish Bay (and Pebble Beach) on the golf simulator at Top Golf :(
It's pretty cool that we live in a time that this is possible, though!
Living in Sweden it would be a dream to once travel to Cal to play golf!
Maybe not the round you wanted but 88 at SB is a bad score for 95% of the golfing world. And I can't imagine any day playing SB is a bad one. Great round Adam! Hoping to get there soon myself.
Thanks so much. Whereabouts are you?
@@NotAScratchGolfer You're welcome. I just noticed there should have been a NOT in my first comment. 88 is really good! I'm about a half hour north of Sacramento. Seeing your videos I figured you were from CA too. There's some nice courses up here to test your ability if you find yourself up this way. Happy to suggest a few. If you're on Instagram I'd be happy suggest some.
Those rounds happen 🤙
Another gem
Thanks Gregory
Such a stunning course. And great video, Adam! Thanks for sharing even when you're not at your best. 1 of 13 scrambling is more my territory than yours!
Haha cheers. And yeah, am I crazy to say I enjoyed the setting of Spanish even more than Pebble??
@@NotAScratchGolfer You know what, I kinda hear that a lot. Pebble is unbeatable with the history. But a lot of people in my circles do the Central Coast swing and report that Spanish Bay is their favorite!
Caddie goooood. No birdie not tip
Love all these Adam! Wondering if the handicap system video is real tho or if you’re just pranking us.
Thanks, David. I swear this video is coming lol. It's been difficult to churn it out while traveling and golfing. It'll be worth the wait!!
I got to play here about 5 years ago, I almost liked it more than Pebble. Also the guy that comes out to play the bagpipe at sunset is amazing
It’s a very challenging course. All high 80’s and low 90’s myself as a low single digit handicap.
Great video Adam, courses like this I guess you have to put scores aside in exchange for just enjoying the moment you’re in. Still, good score. Well done
4sho. Thanks for the kind words!
LOL. they fixed the signage!! Glad to see you guys got back out there.
Thanks, man. Had a good chuckle when we saw that sign there.
You asked in a previous video about ideas for other styles of video... What about getting a round recap, chatting with a round partner about the day's round? The best shots and why they were so good, worst shots and how they could've been avoided or better..
Ahaha nice reference to golf sidekick
With the GOTG
Green visited in reg is awesome hahaha
I play this course on toptracer all the time and usually shoot +3 to +7 as a 12 handicap. This video just shows you how difficult it is around the greens, and how I definitely wouldn’t shoot that irl
Haha this reminds me of a friend who always tells me about his great scores without mentioning that they're on the simulator :p Indeed, putting accounts for ~40% of our strokes and I don't think it's something that can be "simulated" off the course. But it would be cool to play this track on the sim and figure out where you want to place the ball off the tee!
What camera and microphone do you use? Very clean video 👌🏼
The camera is my iPhone 12 Pro Max (shooting in only 1080p at the standard frame rate). On course, I use a Rode Wireless Go microphone. I narrate using a Blue Yeti Nano.
Adam what did you say about golf sidekick at 11:43? Thanks! Great video
This weather looks better than what we got at Rancho. Also, I played there a few days after we did and it was 95 degrees. Weird.
This is what I wish I could do play bogey golf on a bad day :)
nice video- just likely an off day since your inside 100 yards game is usually the area that saves a lot of your scores
Thanks, Matthew. Yeah, I think a lot of golfers delude themselves into thinking, "I never play like this!" 100 yards and in is usually where my game shines, but I can still go out there and have rounds like this one, too :p
r/golf brought me to your channel. thanks for this amazing content.
Welcome, Larry! Glad you're enjoying!
Playing this course and Spyglass next week. Any tips?
Adam, any thought that the unfamiliarity of having the caddie is maybe what caused the poor execution. I have found myself wondering this as well with my last few caddied rounds. Maybe something to a different process than usual/more specific swing thoughts mucking up the works.
Thats a nice spot to play golf.....
I know this is old but why line up on right side of tee box if wind is left to right? So that your hitting into it more?
It is the hardest course on 17 mile drive!
Playing all 18 this time. Living the dream! 😝
Haha thanks Jason
K so the 3rd tee box... Watch it, over, and over, and over. Let it be your meditation feel.
Thsts your Zen place.
Just butter, the effortless place of power.
Are your irons fitted? The fact that you pured the one above your feet seems like you may need your irons bent a degree or two flat.
Central coast wind is no joke, I played Monarch Dunes last month and I swear a couple of them almost leaned enough to touch the green. Plus 3 clubs into the wind all day, enough to water the eyes and yes, from the wind not because of my ego getting slapped. Although…. 😂
Lol. Yeah coastal winds are no joke. It's crazy how differently these courses can play a day apart...even a few hours aprt.
The view of the course makes up for the view of this guys swing. Sheesh. #swingyourswing
Really short course from where you played it
Adam sure looks like a mini Ben Stiller
Mate, 7 putts in two holes!? Can’t imagine that happens very often… 🤔
"I'm hoping to go low today"
Immediately hits a stinger
Well if by low you meant trajectory, that was a good start
Stinger is a very kind descriptor for that drive :p
Let’s play a round if you’re in SoCal at all?
White/green tees for a single didit hcp?
Yep
Adam have you read "every shot must have a purpose"?
You said “Last round in California”, where to now?
Back home to the great white North (Vancouver)
@@NotAScratchGolfer so are you like a Florida “snowbird” then, except you do it between Canada and CA/AZ?
I think i would rather play there than Pebble Beach. Not saying I dont want to play Pebble Beach at some point, but this course seems more interesting to me.
Spanish Bae
I would pin this comment if I could
Hey man. So are you still wanting to get together in myrtle beach.. golf capital of the world. Let's make it happen
Hey Adam! I want to do it. Do you think it's possible to plan a trip as soon as the Summer, or is 2023 more realistic?
@@NotAScratchGolfer hey would you like to plan to come to myrtle beach man?
Your videos are great! I am a 6.8 handicap and I am trying to build a UA-cam channel. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!
But 88 is not 79....................
c.tenor.com/kpNb6Vt2QYoAAAAC/happy-gilmore.gif
the mega draw drive...
Those are more complimentary words than I would have given it during this round :p
Terrific views! Great piece of property, but it is a shitty golf course and needs to be redun.
L caddie giving bad reads
Wat. He was $ with the reads!
Some of those target lines at the beginning were pretty bad
@@chasewilson364 I think the issue is that a line has to be matched by pace. His lines appeared good but my speed was awful :p
I’ve got to say bud, his reads didn’t look great on camera, even taking into consideration the speed. You’re one of the best putters I know: I’m sure you would have had a better day with the flat stick had you just read them yourself. The problem with a caddie is that you don’t get to feel the putt yourself - it becomes too mechanical
@@NotAScratchGolfer I see it just looked crap on camera
Spanish Bay is a complete disappointment with all the safe zones you aren't able to hit out of. Pebble and Spyglass are far better courses to play than Spanish. Personally, I would save your green fee and skip Spanish, and even drive over to play Pasatiempo instead.
With no disrespect intended, where were you hitting it that this was a repeated issue for you? I put the ball in some bad spots on 5, 8, 15, and 18, and was never told by my caddie that I wasn't allowed to play my ball.
Definitely agree with the rave review of Pasatiempo, and love your GT4 Clubsport, by the way ;)
How do you play so much golf and have a backswing like you do? You should fix your backswing as soon as possible man don't try to get better scores. Fix the swing and worry about scores later. Results will come. It is very cringe watching your videos. No offense, but I've been practicing golf for about 8 months and I've surpassed you by so much. I just hope you don't get complacent with the swing. Stay in the lab.
If you've played golf for eight months and have an index below 6.0, you're in *extremely* elite company. Kudos!
I'll give a friendly, "no thanks" to your unsolicited swing instruction. I care a lot more about my impact position than my backswing.
@@NotAScratchGolfer yeah I'm not trying to say to only focus on backswing. I mean the whole swing. Which ofc impact position is probably the most important part of. Your swing is garbage man. Simple as that. Fix it.
GIOTG 🤌
