Danny seems so humble, blue collar, and completely down to earth in a place a million miles away from rock star and drummer extraordinaire. He is definitely on my list of favorite people.
A new EP would be perfect. With a MONSTER of an album that was Fear Inoculum, it would be soooo cool to have a short EP that’s like 30 min long, with some solid 5 minute average songs. Something that doesn’t have to have the pressure of topping the last project like FI did, what with the 13 year wait it needed to be pretty long and epic but now that they have that out and the pressures off it would be cool af to get another EP I think this is the perfect time for it.
Jeff Huntsinger I mean the songs on this album are just larger in scale, there a slower build up to these songs so they are definitely less in you face. I can see where you’re coming from but I still think the songs are catchy. But the structure of the songs on FI are completely different from what is on their previous records. Like I said they’re less quick to the point in your face, and more long slow burners that gradually build up. And I can see why people don’t really like that and I can see why people do really like it. Ænima is my favorite and will probably always be my favorite, but Ænima and FI are so different it’s hard to even compare the two. I feel the same with a lot of King Crimson album where their albums are so unique from one to the other that it’s hard to even compare some of them.
Aside from an EP, I hope after this huge tour he mentions (once it finally gets to happen) a new live release would be amazing. Do kind of a Led Zeppelin Song Remains the Same type thing where you have the album itself and then a DVD/Blu-ray of concert footage. Even some exclusive visuals would be cool af, cut from the concert footage to some killer exclusive tool visuals. I mean imagine 7empest live but when it hits the solo it cuts to some cool video visuals you’ve never seen. I’m dying for them to do something like this.
Turk any new tool music would be awesome. I would love a new EP. and since they can’t tour I feel like it’s the perfect time, a blessing in disguise. But once they finish the tour and ideally film it they should release a live album/film of it a few years after.

Great interview. I did not realize that Danny isn't really a songwriter, which makes me realize just how much of Tool Adam directs creatively. Very cool.
I remember either hearing or reading somewhere that a lot of what Adam makes is in conjunction with what Justin comes up with. I think Adam may do a lot of the writing but I have a feeling Justin is kind of the unsung hero who lays the groundwork for the songs. ^_^
@@seldomme14 You're probably right. Seems like Justin probably helps with the structure/cool riffs etc. while Adam is the main songwriter. Maynard is the guy they call in at the end "Okay we're ready for you!" haha.
@@user-uy3eq5hg1s I believe that last part is accurate! I watched an interview with MJK and he mentioned that basically the other guys send him the finished work and then he does his vocals. Not to by any means take away what Maynard does, but from a musical standpoint it sounds like he has very little to do with the sound tool makes and really just focuses on his vocals and what he brings to the table. You and the band really are motivating us MFers to step up our game. Im hitting that delay heavy now and switching tempo/timing more often. That shit aint easy, hats off to you and the guys.
It'd make up for canceled shows I'd say
FI was unremarkable as an album. Still liked it, but unremarkable
Jeff Huntsinger in what way was it unremarkable? Just curious
@@jeremydraper733 no catchy, remarkable songs such as Jiambi or 4 degrees, etc...
WE NEED LIVE MUSIC BACK..
New Tool EP sounds better
Turk any new tool music would be awesome. I would love a new EP. and since they can’t tour I feel like it’s the perfect time, a blessing in disguise. But once they finish the tour and ideally film it they should release a live album/film of it a few years after.
Imagine a live streamed concert from their loft 😱😍
Glad I saw them in November in Brooklyn!!! Come back soon!!!
Thank you for the Sonic sounds ingenuity and all that you bring ,been a fan a really long time and you've kept my feet on the ground keep on plugging guys this shall pass too
Danny pushes boundaries as the worlds greatest drummer; yet, he’s so humble and level-headed. Tool is the birth of the most beautiful and intense music you can immerse yourself into. Each album has its own identity and no other band in the world can hold a comparison.
I like how he holds a stick like it's his safety stick, or his interview stick. Maybe he has special sticks for all kinds of interactions lol
The sticks are what keeps his consciousness grounded from blasting off into the astral plane.
LMAO!!!!!!!
That magical smile he releases when he says: "Take the other ones out and destroy them on the road." Danny Carey is awesome.
I'm appreciating Tool so much lately. Wish nothing but the best for this band to keep producing more hits!
i love danny and cevin so this is such a treat, thank you!
It's really awesome how over the years they've found a niche that works for them. And it has yet to disappoint!... Cept maybe Culling voices lol. That song is a really... "okay"
cEvin key!!! This is so great. One of the greatest drummers, and one the greatest electronic musicians, that set the standard amd opened doors for all electronic musicians today.
An absolutely amazing percussionist. Easy to tell Danny is a Very easy going measured guy. Saw Tool for first time last November. Was completely blown away. Can’t wait to go again. Thanks to you and your mates for creating incredible music.
Had tickets to your concert in Miami! Was so bummed to miss you guys! Can’t wait until concerts can come back and enjoy them. Definitely hope you’ll still be coming back down here then too. Don’t want to miss you guys!

This is a short edited compilation of an EXCELLENT new long interview by Danny's friend cEvin Key. The full interview can be viewed on cEvin's Patreon:

Dude you rock! This channel is killer, thanks for everything, whoever you are behind the scenes of TOOLARCHIVE!
Call Brendan O'Brien. Create! don't waste the time.

All Hail ToolArchive 🤘😎🤘
Danny ur awesome 😍 😍😍
Danny....man.... your ability....your humbleness. I have so much respect for you. Watching you play drums is so amazing.
So nice, smart and down to earth! He's just amazing and definitely one of the best drummers of all time.
Danny's friend...also a legend of Industrial music
It's impressive that Danny actually believes he could be a weak link. Hahahaha
Thanks for sharing this. Made my day. Danny Carey just seems like a super cool guy who also happens to be one of the best drummers in the world. No ego there. Doing it right, and smartly so.
Stay safe guys, from a fan. Slainte.
A year after Fear's release and it's still heavy in my play list. I can't believe how good that album is. It's either my first or second favorite Tool album ever.
"Devolpe some new chops"
Such a humble and modest thing to say. I mean now that Peart is gone; he's gotta be the best walking right...
There's no such thing as "best walking". Tomas haake plays more interesting drum parts than DC and if you want chops+precision+technique you really can't go past Matt Gartska.....
At Danny's level, he's only competing with himself, and I personally think that's the best way to keep sharp and deliver. At his age, the drive he has is amazing, not to mention the complexity of his drumming.
It only makes sense to compete with oneself. Nothing else matters, as the inner reflects the outer. 😊
Is always a good day to see my all time musical hero, speaking so eloquently and optimistic.
i love tool pls never stop making awesome music
I’d pay to be a fly on the wall when they “just jam”
You are not alone, there'd be a million flys. I'd give a lot for that and I know I am not alone
There’s not any jamming it’s just flies buzzing
Me too
Imagine a livestream mmm
There’s videos of them playing without mjk and they give you the best bits on the albums anyway.
YEAH BUDDY!!!!!
"BACK IN 93....SINCE OUR FIRST EP!!!"
pleaeeease... 💯 🤘🤘🤘🤘
@@MostlyLost FUKIN AUTO CORRECT... DAMNIT!!!
thanks bro... 💯 👍

It would be so amazing if Tool released new music that would literally make my year🤘🏻
Wow cool, thanks for this interview
Damn it, Danny... I know you don't know me, but I, and many MANY people love you dude. One of the coolest people ever, and most certainly the best drummer on the planet!
Tool is my favorite band on L.S.D.,I mean when I take it,it's a whole new tool in the shed boys, thanks for all the great times,Im amazed at your sounds
That's cheating! I've found that I no longer need LSD when listening to Tool. The music itself awakens the mind.
@@JSchaffer214 I didn't say I still took it,but the first time,oh WoW,it was love at first hear...
What I need in my life this guy makes. As a drummer you sorta understand other drummers. It is a language, expression well all instruments are. But this guy can almost talk with his instrument. The feeling he brings to the songs are amazing. I get so much emotion out with Tool. And in this crazy world, you really need that!
We need a new album. Was soooo great to see you in concert just before the world locked down. Dont forget to tour australia again. Love your music, one of best bands on this planet!
I would pay my life savings for the Tool jam tapes.
He’s a very humble man Danny is.
Danny seems like a genuinely cool and down to earth person and needless to say an absolute monster on the kit. Much respect for this man.
I don't know who will see this, but growing up a teen in the 90s I was inspired to take up the drums based on hearing about Tool from a friend. Still drumming to this day in my garage. Turned 40 this past May. Thank you Danny!
ok this is nuts. My birthday is May 10th. If you know you know...
there are two possible things happening: either they release an album within the next 2-3 years or they are never releasing anything again. considering their age they absolutely will not take another 13 years
Danny "the Hype-Man" everybody...
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing and rock on Danny!
The way their music is put together is definitely reflected in how they come across. They take their music places where many eyes join in one almost blinding sonic vision.
Danny is always upbeat. I appreciate it. However not gonna hang on his words regarding any new Tool music.
I NEED MY CONCERT!!! BADLY 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Me too. Saw them in November, had tickets for April and Covid-19 F'ed shit up royally. Happy I saw them though. Its was BEAUTIFUL 🙌🙌🙌
coolest and most humble guy in history who is the greatest drummer for the greatest band.
anybody else having this same angle on Sir Danny.
Cheers.
Thank you Danny ! Stay safe!
