Rude was in Indianapolis for a match back in the late 80's. One day while I was at my gym I looked over and saw Rude working out, benching 405 for several reps like a walk in the park. Dude was a bad ass.

Rick Rude bench 405 lbs for 7 or 8 reps now that's impressive cause a lot of other 245lbs old school wrestlers could get only 1 or 2 reps tops

He had a great physique. I saw a picture of him shortly before he died and it looked like his heart just wasn't working right because it seemed like he had put on 50 lbs of water weight. He looked terrible. I would suspect that after that injury in the Sting fight, he had to live on painkillers to function and if he was working to get back in the ring, the cycles he may of been on was just too much for his heart to take at 40. I don't say that with any judgement. It had to have been difficult.
