@@abdullahstrongmanMark Henry is a big topic. Covered him a little in the strongest wrestlers and strongest benchers list, but he deserves a proper own video soon
Couldnt agree more, he still looked great. I went trough the whole transcripts of the trial, highly interesting stuff. Maybe i cover it in a future episode.
@@howstrongisyou may want to listen to the Lapsed Fan podcast. They did a very detailed series of episodes using trial transcripts and titled it, “The Trial of My Life” it was very good. Appreciated your video Rude was a fantastic heel, RIP.
Spot on, had to leave couple of things out since my main focus was rather the physical transformation, I was afraid it becomes too to much a documentary. Memphis was when he came in with the stripper gimmick if I remember right?
You did an awesome job finding pictures and materials here. There is a lot I learned here. But I would disagree with the contention that he didn't take steroids or many steroids before working in the Florida territory. Some pictures/videos indicate that he did. To me he really started to abuse the PEDs late during his time in World Class, when he was getting ready to jump to Crockett and the NWA. As you said, there were times during his years in the WWF and WCW that he cycled off.
That is actually a good point, you might be right there. Some stories even said that he didn’t used to drink or smoke. In any case appreciate your feedback
@@howstrongis Back in the early 1990's while I was in grad school in Minnesota, I joined the same gym up in Plymouth, MN that included Rude, Hennig, both Road Warriors (they together owned the building the gym was housed in), Mike Enos, Wayne Bloom, Kevin Wacholz (Nails), and Masa Saito. I was aware that Jesse Ventura was a member but I never actually saw him there (too busy being mayor of Brooklyn Park and commentating for WCW, I guess). Although I never saw him smoke, I heard Rude was a smoker, which was not a plus to the women who received the romantic version of the Rude Awakening.
@@SmilingSynicThat is awesome, thanks for sharing. Always happy to hear those stories in the comment sections. There was a gym i saw once in the Road Warriors documentary....might be the same place since the guys you mentioned were all displayed on the wall,
Appreciate your comment. Thinks like that motivate me tremendously. The MN area was a crazy talent pool for pro wrestling, especially in the early days. Most of my all time favs are from the area. Must be something in the water there
Sure Rick Rude did performance enhancing and recreational drugs but that physique comes mainly from good genes and hard work, period. Look at most big wrestlers who are just that no matter the drugs, they end up looking like a bloated built guy rather then ravishing and cut and dear I say natural looking. He was a great wrestler and dominant heel and sold his role better then most and according to many was a great guy personally. Too bad at just 40 he either wanted or just didn't care but unfortunately his life was tragically lost the same way most die in this profession. He will always be remembered though for his great wrestling performances, off screen demeanor, great hangout buddy persona for those friends that knew him well and on point heel moments that I think hasn't been properly duplicated again ✌🏽♥️
Couldn’t agree more. All of them used drugs, but no one looked even close to Rude. And as you mentioned, peds can only do so much, and genetics, work and proper nutrition are all still essential. Used to train a little with a wrestler named Alex Coughlin together, he was close to Rick in terms of being a genetic freak. Strong as a bull, build like a tank
No probs, I was expecting a bit more in terms of routine or program structure. Don't think some short promo footage of him climbing a rope or benching is really worthy of saying you made a video 'covering his training routine', saying that sounds like you went over his actual training program and broke it down. Anyways, I mean no offence by this was just hoping to get some inside info on his actual workouts. Thanks anyway. @@howstrongis
@@EvilestGemFully agree, wish i would have find more information there. With certain wrestlers it was a lot easier (British Bulldog and Cesaro, included their whole routine as excel file in the descriptions if you are interested), other, especially older wrestlers , information are rather sparse. Especially in the 80s, probably a lot of compund lifts, in Ricks case we know he did a lot of rowing, chin ups, bench and wrist curls according to interviews. Hope that helps.
@@howstrongis he appeared to have a smaller frame and maxed it out. DOn't think he could have carried bulk at all...they say genetics will determine how large you can get ultimately.
Rick Rude did have a bad temper but once you win over his friendship Rick was a very loyal guy that was always there for his friends
Perfect description of the Ravashing one. Bret said something similar
What you knew him personally ?

Rude was the ultimate heel. Great upload thanks my brother.
Appreciate it. Probably one of my all times favs. together with Mr Perfect.
Damn. A heavier Rick Rude still looked pretty amazing.
I agree, out of shape or natural Rude still looks great
to be fair, he still was pretty fit when he was at his lowest
Fully agree. Out of shape Rude still got go a hundred miles a hour
Compared to most guys when they come off the juice, Rude was still very well built. McMahon is an idiot for badgering him about it.

Rick vs Don Frye for the goat Mustache…
You might need to include Dan Severn into the mix
Best heel ever!
Him and Perfect for me
Rick was a beast
A tough humang being
Rick rude has the best abdominals in the in wrestling history thank you for the uploading the video

Fully agree. The perfect blend of a body guy, who was tough and could sell.
Known for his Rude awakening finisher
One of the best neckbreackers in pro wrestling
@@howstrongis The best neckbreaker

Legit too,
Him and Piper were the best on the mic.
Loved their feud together.
I love Rick Rude ! For me the best heel !
100% agree
Rude was the sexiest man in wwf a damn beast
No one even came close
He would dominate if he was In the business now. A great talent and he loved weed. A win win in my book
That is a good point. I agree. Think with his airbrushed pants and whole persona he was his time ahead
He always had that double chin though even though he was never fat. Guess that's just his facial structure or something
Rick was small in the early 80s look at him talking to Austin Idol
Think mid 80s is when he really packed on size, end 80s he was a beast
Great video, love the short biographical format. I wouldn't mind a follow up on Bruiser Brody as well
Thats actually a great idea. Let me gather some ideas how to repackage it without too much repetition.
The actor Patrick Bergen always reminded me of Rick. Especially with the mustache .
Now i cant unsee it anymore...
Sad thing is, Rick had a nice natural
Physique and would have fit right in this era, but man 80’s and steroids and WWE go hand and hand
Fully agree, even at the early beginning of his career he looked great.
They left out Rude's memphis run. That is where his carrear really took off. Then florida/,texas/mid-alantic/ then wwf.

His gimmick was the best. Had me doubled over laughing.
Think his son said in an interview that he was really living the gimmick while working out in the gym.
