They signed some big name bodybuilders, and promised a future putting on bodybuilding shows with big money prizes. They put on one show, which wasn’t bad, then the backlash, and it all disappeared. That’s when all the wrestlers started getting smaller.
I’m remember well…..David Dearth weighed like 175, Mike Quinn was fat and less muscular….Winner was Strydom who looked the same as before, now did he get a pass on the testing OR his genetics were that good ? Happy I never touched that stuff, I’m pushing 50 & went from a 315 bench at 210, to probably a 195 bench at 300, but I know if I ever start lifting again I’ll get it all back and maybe even pass 315 again…..Guys who juice so young, nowhere to go but downhill!

I remember reading an interview from Scott Steiner just after he joined WWE in 2003ish and he was talking about how much it pissed him off that people think he takes roids. Said most times he was injured was a knee injury and wouldn't let him miss gym time so would just work top half. I lost all respect for him then, not because he took them- they all did and do, but everybody else admitted it whereas Scott treated us all like idiots.

I met Lex Luger when i was a toddler back in the early 90s in downtown Atlanta. Mind you WCW's home was Atlanta so this was common occurance for some people to see wrestlers back then. Even met the legendary Michael Hayes around this time as the man used to pick me up and put me on the service counter. My mom worked at the Texaco gas station down there back then and her gas station was a frequent stop. I got their signatures to this day in her possession along with a few others that I cant remember. I know when i was little, I was told that i was terrified of Lex Luger due to his sheer size compared to little bitty toddler me LOL

Well, they are controlled substances, meaning you need a prescription to take them. There are serious risks to steroid abuse, as many other controlled substances.
Also, it sort of is a competition, just not in the way you think. All of these guys and gals are competing for roster spots, PPV matches, main event cards, and title opportunities. Having an impressive physique improves ones chances of being noticed and ultimately receiving a push. So if you want to have any opportunity to succeed in this business, you have to stand out, so some will use steroids to do that.
For those of you wondering. You can 100000% be on the sauce, and be fat. Diet, and type of juice matters a LOT. None of these roidheads have ever come off completely, and if they have, they are surely on TRT now to keep levels in a normal range.

You could see the ones that took it for literally a good chunk in their careers and later on paid physically for it. And those who took it either for an extra boost or medical reasons. Dynamite Kid had one of the most dangerous finishing moves in wrestling. Every top wrestler who used the flying headbutt every week has ended up dying early. It's like having a concussion week after week, look what it did to Chris Beniot's brain.

Facts, I have what most would consider “good genes” and I stand 6’4” and weigh 215lbs. My body puts on muscle easily but there is no way I would be shredded if I gained 20-30lbs. We are being told/sold that all of these guys are essentially Aaron Donald/DK Metcalf in terms of their physiques. I find that extremely hard to believe.

No that's not how it works. If you've naturally put on muscle even if you get fat your gains will only slightly diminish that's basically what a fat swole guy is. HHH clearly taking alot stuff because his body looks drastically different.
You can't do exercises like squats or deadlifts with a torn quad. And it's very hard to have a muscular physique without doing those types of movements.

I met Lex Luger when i was a toddler back in the early 90s in downtown Atlanta. Mind you WCW's home was Atlanta so this was common occurance for some people to see wrestlers back then. Even met the legendary Michael Hayes around this time as the man used to pick me up and put me on the service counter. My mom worked at the Texaco gas station down there back then and her gas station was a frequent stop. I got their signatures to this day in her possession along with a few others that I cant remember. Having an impressive physique improves ones chances of being noticed and ultimately receiving a push. Facts, I have what most would consider “good genes” and I stand 6’4” and weigh 215lbs. My body puts on muscle easily but there is no way I would be shredded if I gained 20-30lbs. We are being told/sold that all of these guys are essentially Aaron Donald/DK Metcalf in terms of their physiques. I find that extremely hard to believe.

When I interviewed Lanny Poffo - he was talking about taking steroids, as everyone in the WWF was on them - jhe said when he stopped, it was like deflating a balloon and his size decreased quickly - he was a very stand up guy with much good sound advice. He didn’t do drugs and was a stand up guy - I have so much respect for him , and thought he was one of the most talented in his day .

2007 was the best example for it.. i was theretime so suprise as i saw him, i thought "did he lose some weight?"
If anything he just cut fat he didn't really lose muscle. I know most people don't know about bodybuilding but randy when he was "big" had way more body fat and now he is just more cut nothing really changed besides his body fat percentage.
He wasnt on roids, he just got older.

I still can't believe that there are so many people who think The Rock achieved and maintains his physique without the use of steroids and other ped's. I always thought it was obvious, but now that he's as famous as he is it seems like more and more people try to convince themselves that he would never take steroids. He more or less built his whole career partially on his steroid use.

I’ll never forget trying to leave work one day when he came in to do an appearance. It had to be around 1996. That man was like a walking brick wall! I felt like an ant standing next to him.
(I’m 5’5” 100lbs then & now so I feel small standing next to most people Lol But he was just massive!!!)
He works out daily. Taking breaks from wrestling let's the body recover from injuries. Also, body naturally changes with age.

No that's not how it works. If you've naturally put on muscle even if you get fat your gains will only slightly diminish that's basically what a fat swole guy is. HHH clearly taking alot stuff because his body looks drastically different.
You can't do exercises like squats or deadlifts with a torn quad. And it's very hard to have a muscular physique without doing those types of movements.
@@TheSBleeder Scott Steiner didn't do squats or deadlifts in his prime and the dead UA-cam bodybuilder rich piana didn't work legs the last few years of his life , the result is a top heavy physique !
In the case of HHH. He tore the quad muscle clean off his thigh bone as his quad muscle grew bigger than what the bone could support. This is caused by abusing steroids. Tell me Bobby Lashley is not using 🙄

When Nikita Koloff ( NWA) got off the Roids after becoming a babyface when Magnum TA was seriously injured in a car wreck. His muscle became fat. You can clearly see it in the fall of 1987. Also Billy jack became a fat slob after steroids.
