How to unlock the slide on baikal makarov MP-654k the easy way

If you pull the trigger while the slide is in the rear position it will lock up, now the manual says you have to put some force on the hammerserretions with a screwdriver to unlock it. But this is a easier way and wont scratch the hammer.

The very best and easiest way to release the slide and hammer is to feed a piece of paracord/strong string through the shell eject hole, then pull the cord ends through the gaps on each side of the hammer then pull back the slide as far as it goes and pull on the paracord/string at an angle so that it releases the hammer, make sure that your slide is pulled back while your releasing the hammer, this will definitely unjam your slide and hammer, no need for a vice, you might want to tie the other end of your paracord/string to a fixed handle/pole so that you can apply torque to the paracord/string while your slide is pulled back, hope this makes sense, I've just used this method and it worked fine without causing any issues and without scratching the pistol, I'll try to post a how to video of this if I get a chance, thanks

you can avoid the scratching on the slide by depressing the spring on the safety lever ( side facing toward the slide )

You can use a screwdriver and pull down the hammer

I just fixed mine 654k of this problem by using a flatheaded screwdriver to cock the hammer. I guess the way in the video may damage the firing pin. The safety lever in my case is also stucked.

This method does not work all the time, it depends how/where the pin is situated/jammed. and it also scratches the slide when replacing safety lever... Will stick with electrical tape wrapped on screw driver! Thx for the vid and info but personally wish i never tried this method due to the awful scratches it leaves on the slide! if anything i prefer the off chance of a scratch on the hammer. Hope others read this before trying this method!!!!
