Circa 16:49 when John says "Says who?" I think he's referring to the fact that he's already there in whatever altered timeline they're all in, so killing his parents there won't erase him from existence (since he was conceived in another timeline)

I noticed you have trouble with interpretations of time travel in different movies. I think it may be because you make classic assumptions. Like that in which change in the past must always affect the future immediately. Maybe change in the past moves through the timestream in another manner. Like at the speed of light/speed of causation (in which case there's no grandfather paradox and Connor's "says who" could make sense). Or maybe accelerated, but still not immediate.
That's not to say the Terminator franchise makes sense - I suspect it doesn't, but there are ways to play around with rules of time and time travel beyond the simplistic, classical conceptions. Think outside the box. ;)

When you time travel you become a remnant of your timeline even if it ceases to exist. It's not Back to the Future rules where you'll fade out of existence. This has to be the case otherwise Kyle or Sarah would have to die to prevent the events of Genesis.
This is why killing Sarah in T1 still works because she's not a remnant. These rules have applied since T2 since the T-800 and T-1000 don't fade away once Skynet is destroyed (Until future movies that is but within T2, the rule applies.)
Emilia Clark was AMAZING on Game of Thrones, but she sucked in Terminator Genisys. BUT - the worst part of the movie was Jason Clarke as John Connor....he sucked in this role and the fact that they made him a f'ing villain pissed me off beyond belief!

everything here seems to imply that you think skynet has control of aiming time travel at different timelines, but they're kinda just fucking with and dealing with the rammifications of multiverse theory, so by the time the 4th time line exists, time travel is just everywhere and compoundingly fucked... right?

@@dus10dnd Simple, at a time in which 2 Terminator films in a row suck (Genesys and Dark Fate, for example) we will be exposed to a Nexus Point in the time flow, allowing us to remember both pasts. We can then go back in time and use our information of future shitty movies and change the future.
This was failed attempt to try to remake the original and tried to do judgement day like sequel.
At least it got rid terminator rise of the machines and salvation.

Que existen múltiples (sino infinitas) lineas de tiempo, creándose unas a otras, debido a los constantes viajes en el tiempo algunas incluso interactúan con otras (terminator genesys por ejemplo), así que aunque suene flojo y aburrido. No es necesario especificar de que linea de tiempo es cada uno, porque existen lineas de tiempo que no vemos ni conocemos y que existen simultáneamente y son imposibles de predecir. El skynet humano simplemente vino de otra linea de tiempo y no es realmente necesario explicar de donde xD

But Genisys is just a terrible mess and an insult to the Franchise.

To fix the major problem with this movie, they should have made Teri Wyble who played Mariam ( she says "You can't wear pants" to Jai Courtney who played Kyle Reese) , the T-3000 , & give a backstory of being 3rd in charge
T1 & T2 were just awesome. Should have ended with T2 bc why should Skynet be created if no tech is found...there fore T3 & Salvation are decent, but not nessecary.

Emila Clarke is an excellent actress, she is an amazing Daenerys Targaryen in Game of thrones, but she is no Sarah Connor. Linda Hamilton will always be the best Sarah Connor.
Terminator was GREAT! T2 is my FAVORITE movie EVER! T3 and T4 were horrendous. Genisys....meh. Excited for Dark Fate though....well, cautiously optimistic anyway. At least we have Sarah Connor back! I was SO angry that they had killed her off between movies! Dark Fate being a direct sequel to T2 is exciting! Been waiting for THAT for DECADES!
The plot sucks and is so stupid! The cast sucks, Jai Courtney is NOT the right actor to play Kyle Reese! Emilia Clark is NOT the right actress tom play Sarah Connor! Also the T-1000 was played by Byung-Hun Lee who played Stormshadow in GI JOE Rise of Cobra and its sequel GI JOE Retaliation! He was awesome as Stormshadow, dude can kick ass. But Why cast him in this? These are classic terminator characters! The script is incomprehensible nonsense with unnessary and impossible time travel with "Pops" hepling Sarah build a damn Time Displacement Device to go FORWARD in time! Even if that were possible why would Kyle just not go back to 2029 and leave "Pops" to protect Sarah. In that scene with Time Displacement Device in big concrete room somewhere; Kyle: "So I'll use this thing to go back to 2029. Sarah, you arent who I thought I was here protect; you supposed to be a waitress! John said so!" What was that shit about?! The tech doesn't exist until 2020's so Kyle and Sarah cant go forward to 2017! This be would be during the war! When did the Resistance form in Genysis timeline? 2020's?! We know the Time Displacement Device sent Kyle to 1984 and so It's a one way trip to the PAST(our present) Never forward! Kyle's memories changing, Skynet having a body and making John a terminator aka T-3000 was plain absurd!! It's terrible! Let us never speak of the travesty that is Terminator Genysis(what is this spelling anyway?!)
My bet is the TV series timeline is the one that sent back Pop's and the T-1000 to 1973. Since that timeline had TWO AI's, Skynet and the more humane AI. Sending people back to prevent AI awareness would prevent it's own creation at well.
And I will defend Emilia's portrayal and it's lack of emotions/range because it was her attempt to show her lack of human contact for 10 years. 10 years at an age where social interaction is important. 9-19 is an age where children need social interaction. She was raised by an Android for TEN years. How ELSE would you portray that? Like nothing happened to your development?

Dude, rewatch Genisys again, and don't take any bong hits during the viewing, or before doing so. The T 1000 was sent after Sarah, not Reese! Back in the 1970s for fuck's sake! Pay attention when you watch things.
Chances are, he went to the alley, looking to kill Reese, to copy him, and get to Sarah. However, that brings up another issue, being how did Skymet know about him coming back that night, and where? But, back to Sarah and Pops.
Pops rescued Sarah from the T 1000 back in 1973.

I think the idea of the film is that the Skynet that appears at the end is the same one that eventually infects John in some 2029. That is, it had to somehow create a T-5000 body, upload to it, build the time machines to explore (without interfering) many timelines til finally getting at one where judgement day happens in 1997. It is unclear what Skynet intentions were in the 2017 timeline. Was it going to nuke the world, yet again? Or just become an overlord to humanity without erasing civilization? I also feel that the trilogy wouldn´t end in Skynet´s defeat, but in some sort of truce or peace ("Skynet didn´t attack me, it changed me". "I didn´t attack John, I saved him". "Is it all you people know, kill what you don´t understand"). They finally come to an understanding.
I can't wait to see your Review on Terminator Dark Fate. To be honest. To be honest, I was Hyped for DF, but then I read about Leaks and then...... I guess I don't have to say it. We all know it by now even if we haven't seen the Movie. Right now I'm more excited seeing your Review than seeing the Movie. I'm more excited watching my Cat poop! I'm serious!
