      Erm, hate to break it to you, but there was a comic series that followed events about a year after Salvation's events (Terminator Salvation: The Final Battle). To summarise:
      -Marcus somehow regrew his heart (Hybrids are basically immortal unless you destroy their brains)
      -A new Hybrid based on serial killer Thomas Parnell went rogue and overpowered Skynet (makes sense - Salvation's Skynet didn't do much besides take credit for random events happening)
      -John Conner became a Terminator near the end - he was killed by another Terminator then synced to an Endoskeleton made to fight Parnell
      -John brokered a truce with Skynet to beat Parnell, which blossomed into lasting peace
      -The Terminator that killed John (a T-850 I believe) was reprogrammed, then sent through the last TDE Skynet had (which everyone agreed to promptly destroy to avoid messing with time anymore), causing T3

      Dark Fate connects to T2 (even though Cameron originally said Genesis was...), the others are gone from the timeline (similar to Halloween). Still, I will not discredit the paradox loop of Kyle Reese. Cameron specifically intended him to be the biological father of John to make a Ahh moment yet in doing so created a loop; perhaps he didn't think he'd make a sequel or not. Yes, logically John would have a different father in Timeline ZERO, but that was not pushed into the narrative or plot.

      Yeah I didn't hate it but I did feel that it should had been better. Well as said previously PG-13 Terminator movie just don't cut it, they feel subdued. This movie and Genisys did the tell you the "twist" in the trailer which didn't help it's chances. Next it sort of contradicts Kyle's original description of John Connor he being the reason humanity was able to rise up again he taught them how to fight but in Salvation he was relegated to a foot soldier with a small unit and so in this continuity it doesn't make sense why Skynet deems him as the one to save humanity to the point of using time travel as a last ditch effort. He doesn't seem that important other than you (the audience) knows he's supposed to be. Another thing is it never felt that Humanity was actually losing as Kyle put it as well, in Salvation sure humans were being rounded up and everything felt like the Mad Max universe but both humans and the machines felt at even odds at each other. We were still have to have airstrips for aircraft and there are territories that for some reason the machines didn't go to for some reason.

    But it makes no sense for John to have 2 different fathers. He would be genetically a different person with a different father. If original John had a different father, that means Kyle Reese's son John was not the John destined to lead the resistance. Plus, if Skynet never happened as per T2, then John would seize to exist since his father went back in time to father him.
    As great as T2 was, it seems T1 is the only one that doesn't defy logic as it works logically if we consider Kyle was always meant to travel back in time to father John. T2 creates logical inconsistencies especially with John's existence. But T3 sort of fixes it by saying Skynet still gets formed anyways and Judgement Day is postponed. I think this whole mess of a timeline would make more sense if they had not made Kyle Reese, John's father in any timeline.

    The Pre destination theory actually is correct if you go by a unfilmed scene by Cameron in T2. You can look up the storyboard on T2 Ultimate Edition they have a storyboard that shows John sending the T800 from T2 back right after he sends Reese. Also it indications that the original movie pre destination exist or it isn't timeline zero as you say is that John has given Reese a photo of Sarah and constantly talks to him about her. Cause dude wants to make sure he's born lol still good video bro

    • @SpecialDad
      @SpecialDad 5 років тому +8

      Exactly. Skynet sent the OG Terminator to kill Sarah and as a back up, they sent the T-1000 to kill John Conner later in the timeline. They hedged their bets. John knew this (having lived through the second film) so he sends Kyle to protect his mother (and knock her up) then the T-800 to protect himself moments later. It is absolutely predestination. How they missed this, I have no idea unless they just weren't paying attention.

      Most people just don't get it. They think in literal terms that in order for John to be born he has to come first as we know Reese is born after the war. They can't get it through their skulls that Reese is always John's father and that nothing that happened in T1 changed the original timeline. Everything that happned in T1 was always going to happen as it is the original timeline.
      The only time it changes is when instead of going into hiding, the Connors try to stop Judgement Day.

    • @calebfortune3947

      The only problem with the predestination theory is it means there all stuck in a time loop according to physics, one which neither the machines neither the humans can escape, the machines will always loose, yet they send a terminator back in time anyway? The only reason would have to be self preservation, they will never be able to kill John Connor, he will always win, yet when the travel back in time the original time line would reset, so eternal stailmate.
      But you can with causality put yourself in what appears a time loop, like Primer or Twelve Monkeys, there can be a definite start and a possible way out of the loop

    • @harryunderwood9387
      @harryunderwood9387 5 років тому +2

      The reason why it makes more sense (at least from my pov) to separate the first 2 films into basically their own timelines is that T2 directly leads to the postponing (or removal) of Judgement Day, which means each iteration of the individuals sent back aren't the same, thus shouldn't logically make the exact same decisions (a Kyle Reese that fought in a war that started in 2003 should be a lot more used to fighting T-800s (the T-RIP was made in 2018 according to Salvation) than the version where it stared in 1997, where it seems his Resistance just started dealing with the 800s by their 2029). Following that "cycle", there may come a time when John Connor and Kyle Reese die old men before the war even begins - the hell happens then!?

      As you say, the photo of Sarah Kyle had in the future is evidence that the events of the movie had already happened in the timeline he came from.
      We're given further evidence when Kyle explains to Sarah why he volunteered to go back in time: "It was a chance to meet the legend. Sarah Connor. Taught her son to fight, organise, prepare from when he was a kid, when you were in hiding before the war."
      Kyle's description of Sarah here is consistent with the version of her we were shown in T2. It isn't consistent with how she likely would've turned out if she'd never experienced the events of the first movie.

    Terminator Dark Fates is also a soft reboot to create another timeline. It happens after T2 and the judgment day never happens because Skynet no longer exists.
    It turns out that Skynet sent more than one terminator befote its erasure when it sent T-1000. Another terminator (T-800 a.k.a. Carl) successfully kills John 😢😢😭😭. In my opinion, killing John Connor ruins T1 & T2 (the mission to protect John is wasteful).

      I like to think terminator is a good idea of what might happen if humanity turns to a.i.; but imagine if eventually skynet and humanity make peace, skynet builds biological bodies and creates it's own sub species oh human like being. Consciousness, ya know human. Skynet becomes the creator of his species, and the humans and this new species form an alliance. Create an a.i. even more advanced then skynet but without the flaws.. lole it did the quantum computing to know peace is the only option for survival. Advances in technology increase beyond any known factors presented in history. Humanity and thier new ally spread out into the universe.. then we pick up at pitch black with Riddick being moved to prison in cryo sleep. Only the ship crash lands. Plot twist so much time passed skynets people turned into the necro peoples, Necromonger I believe. Rest is history. But wait.. a new force arrives in the universe. Midclorians, causing a mew type of warrior to appear. Jedi. Que felucia theme

      @Steve Austin
      No, SKYNET sent 2 Terminators back through time right after the other. The original script which the novel is based on proves this, plus the opening monologue supports this.
      The reason why SKYNET sends back the T-800 (it is not a T-101, that is WRONG, it is MODEL 101 big difference) is because SKYNET knows that in order to be created it needs the T-800 tech to get into the hands of Cyberdyne since that is how SKYNET was created in the first place was due to the T-800 failing to kill Sarah.
      It sent back the T-1000 right after to try and change the future by killing John as a child. SKYNET is not aware of what happens of this since it is taken offline by Tech Com immediately after. Also SKYNET was afraid of the T-1000 as it is the only 1 it ever produced as they feared that it would turn against SKYNET just like SKYNET turned against huamnity.

    Even though i really like the terminator franchise, i kind of disliked the whole concept of time travel, because it raises more questions than it answers. If we go with T1, John's father was always kyle reese, a soldier sent from the future. Its an endless cycle with no logical conclusion.
    Now if we interpret time as linear, it means that changing something in the past will modify the time elapsed since. This is obviously why John connor wants to send kyle reese back in time to protect his mom otherwise hes never born. But how does that work for them? Were in 2029, skynet is defeated, but we've just learned that skynet sent a t800 to retroactively kill John. What happens now? If we dont send anyone, does John suddenly disappear from existence? Does skynet suddenly reappear, are the rebels suddenly decimated? Or does life simply go on?
    The most plausible outcome imo is that skynet created an alternate time frame where it is victorious. John connor's timeline is therefore unaffected . Hes partying after his victory over skynet. It makes more sense than the current time frame suddenly changing dramatically. If we send someone back in time to kill hitler, does our world suddenly change? Doesnt seem likely does it?

      There's a theory that the T-1000 and T-X could travel in the TDE because either the alloy they use produces bioelectic energy (needed to use the TDE) to simulate living tissue, or they're covered in a thin tissue that burns off mid-travel. The T3 game (Redemption?), which shows the T-X using the TDE, favours the former.

There is always going to be highly underrated movies that are hated by tons of people but that’s because they had to watch it and decided that they were unsatisfied with that entry of the series. People should not shun or assume why people do or don’t like stuff. If you loved it awesome then you aren’t the only one. If you didn’t then great you not the only one either. Like wise there are people like me that thought it was an alright but felt it didn’t really add to the series enough for me to love it. Felt more like a gimmick to make money off a beloved series.

If you recall from TERMINATOR, after Sarah and Ginger finish prepping for their dates, Ginger checks the answering machine and there are 2 messages: the first is from Sarah's mother and the second is from Dan Moresky cancelling the date with Sarah. We do not know how long their relationship was, it could have been a first date, but they could have had a longer relationship...we do not know. Since Sarah was ovulating, it could be assumed that Sarah had met with Dan a few days prior, they had sex, he impregnated her, and then broke up with her the night TERMINATOR occurred.

    My definitive timeline ignoring Genysis and Dark Fate
    1984:
    A T-800 arrives in Los Angeles 1984, sent back from the year 2029 to kill Sarah Conner, the mother of the future Resistance leader John Conner. Unbeknownst to the Terminator The Resistance sent back one of their own soldiers, Kyle Reese, to find and protect Sarah from the T-800. The events of the film plays out. Sarah and Kyle successfully stop The Terminator but Kyle looses his life in the process. Earlier in the film Kyle and Sarah made love and it’s revealed at the end that Sarah is pregnant with John making Kyle his father. Sarah records a message for John to listen to when the time is right and drives off into the desert and says “A storm is coming”. She is right.
    1995:
    10 years after the events of the first film John now 10 years old is living in a foster home while Sarah ended up in a psychiatric hospital due to her being apparent delusions of the future and unable to properly take care of John. This time two Terminators end up being sent back from the future, 1 being a reprogrammed T-800 future John sent to protect himself now since he was born and the other the T-1000 a highly advanced shapeshifting Terminator sent to kill John. The rest of the films events play out. John, Sarah and the T-800 defeat the T-1000 but the T-800 sacrifices itself so it’s parts cannot be reverse engineered to create Skynet any earlier and try to avert the future war. Sarah says the following as she and John drive off into the night, “The unknown future rolls toward us…if a Terminator, can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too.”
    2004:
    nearly 9 years after the second film John Conner has been running from his destined fate as the future leader of The Resistance. Sarah Conner has passed away from cancer and John is alone. However, again two terminators have been sent back from the future after the war ended, The T-850 sent back to protect John’s future wife Kathrine Brewster and the other being the T-X a female Terminator sent back to kill Brewster and any other future Resistance members. The rest of the film plays out. The T-850 destroys itself and the T-X in an explosion and get John and Kate to safety. They find there is no stopping Skynet, it launches a worldwide nuclear attack and Judgment Day begins, 3 billion lives are ended. John accepts his fate as leader, he and Kate try to contact any survivors and create the resistance. John says the following “The battle has just begun”. He is right.
    2018:
    The future War, John and his mother tried so hard to avoid and prepare for has come to past. For the past 14 years The Resistance has been fighting Skynet for control of the world and also try to save as many survivors they come across. During the war a man called Marcus Wright awakens to a unfamiliar world he doesn’t remember. He was a former death row inmate who was executed shortly before Judgement Day. Unknown to him he was experimented on and later finds out himself that he is actually a human hybrid Terminator that unlike the others he has free will. He comes across a young Kyle Reese John’s future father, who is at the top of Skynet’s kill list so Marcus protects him and gets him to The Resistance. The Rest of the events of the film play out. John is severely injured and the only way to save him is a transplant. Marcus sacrifices his life to save John and give The Resistance something they desperately need. Hope.
    2029:
    11 years after the events that unfolded in 2018, Skynet is on the brink of defeat, John Conner and his Resistance are about to win the war they’ve fought so hard and long in. Skynet knowing this, sends back a Terminator, the T-800, back in time with a machine they created over the course of the war. This action shuts down Skynet and The Resistance wins the war. John inspects the machine and knows what must be done, knowing he has to send someone back he chooses Kyle Reese, due to him being his father and to also to protect his mother, Sarah. Kyle is sent back to the time The Terminator was sent to. Los Angeles 1984.

    I think the idea was the predestination loop, only that it´s not a totally closed loop set in stone and in some timelines 2029 Skynet sends a T-800 to 1984 AND a T-1000 to 1995 just before being shut down. Since it´s all in the computer the resistance knows when has to send a protector to 1984 and 1995, and when only to 1984 (this one happens anyway and anyhow as a fixed event in the time stream)

      The world ends and judgement day happens...it’s inevitable, frankly it must happen for the true war to begin....The humans only made it worst for themselves by prolonging judgment day by giving Skynet a technology Edge....remember 4 things MUST HAPPEN in the time line 1) Skynet is destroyed in the year 2029. 2) Sarah Connor is john’s mom 3) john Connor is the resistance leader and destroys Skynet 4) judgement day must happen for the time machine to be built. Skynet cannot prevent it’s death and Sarah cannot stop judgement day... they’re can only be so many variations of this WAR but NO Matter what. Skynet dies at 2029, John and the humans wins the war. The only way this happen is that Judgement day must happen...otherwise it’s a paradox and destroying the time continuum and everyone and existence in the terminator universe dies.

    And now it makes less sense.
    Because of Dark Fate. Dark Fate states that Skynet is completely destroyed and now there is a new AI that takes over in there future. Which means if Skynet is gone then John would have never been able to send Kyle back in time to impregnate Sarahto create John. So that means in the beginning of Dark Fate John should have even existed anymore. And Sarah would be a waitress again.

    • @harryunderwood9387
      @harryunderwood9387 5 років тому

      @Devonte Huntley Slight (massive) theorising here to explain the T-5000 basically resetting the timeline:
      Say the future war gets delayed for so long that the T-3000 is created at the end - a T-1000 that instead uses nanomachines, put simply. That version of Skynet makes a massively advanced version of that body for itself, wraps itself in a living tissue envelope, then uses a TDE (that then secretly self-detonates) to go back to the events of T1 (1984), while leaving a shell AI behind to make the Resistance not send anyone after it.
      It lets events play out until Sarah kills the T-800, but handles the units in the beginning of T2 to stop them prolonging Judgement Day and killing Miles Dyson.
      Riding out Judgement Day, the T-5000 joins the Resistance undetected (the dogs could only smell oils in synthetic skin, plus at that point decades of studying human interaction would help the AI blend in). It makes sure the Skynet of that timeline loses, but just slowly enough that the events of T1 are encouraged, a moment it has spent countless years planning for.
      I remember that some other Tuber theorised that, after the T-5000 killed the other Tech-Com members, John (now a human - turned T-300) was sent back to the other humans to celebrate "winning" while being trained to cause T:G. John's wife Kate (since T3 didn't happen it's not Tara Holden) notices John is different, so she follows him to discover the truth. She reprograms a T-800 unit to defend the child Sarah (after seeing a T-1000 prototype being sent to kill her), wiping the android's memory to avoid detection.

    You oversimplified everything by saying predestination wasn't a thing in the first movie, which is false. It was always a thing, it's just that Kyle Reese altered it by taking certain actions in the past. Mainly, talking about what happens in the future while being recorded. Skyneg gets access to these recordings, and uses it to spend more time preparing for a different plan, delaying Skynet's defeat leading to Terminator 2. The whole thing in the original timeline, is that not only did Kyle Reese need to help conceive John for him to exist, but also the T-800 needed to leave a piece of itself behind for Skynet to exist. If the Terminator never went back in time, sure maybe Sarah would've given birth to another son with someone else, but Skynet would never exist.

    Between the T3 and genesis timelines, it’s implied that there have been thousands of other time travel events.

    The Terminator timeline doesn't make sense. It is impossible for John Connor to order Kyle Reese to go back in time to become his father because at the time of giving the order, the sperm that will become John Connor is still in the testicle of Kyle Reese. It hasn't met the egg yet. (The past has happened but the future hasn't.) That event hasn't occurred yet because at that very moment, that future hasn't been created yet, where Reese goes back in time and 'meets' Sarah. Therefore, John Connor can't exist to give the order. Therefore, it is impossible for that situation to come about.

    I am 0.45 into the video and you arleady GOT IT WRONG.
    There IS NO TIMELINE ZERO.
    Kyle Reese IS ALWAYS JOHN'S FATHER.
    You want evidence of this, very simple. THE FIRST MOVIE GIVES THIS TO YOU. IT BEATS IT IN YOUR HEAD.
    That is the ENTIRE POINT of the picture scenes. Also the dialogue after the police station support this. Kyle tells Sarah that she prepared John BEFORE the war while they were in hiding. Why would Sarah do this if not for the knoweldge that she gained from Kyle???? She wouldn't.
    Why would John give Reese a picture of Sarah in the future that just HAPPENS to be the exact same picture that was taken in 1984 while Sarah was in Mexico at that gas station???? Again, John did this because HE KNOWS THAT REESE IS HIS FATHER BECAUSE SARAH TOLD HIM THAT.
    The original T2 script supports this as well.
    There IS always a paradox. You AREN'T THINKING 4TH DIMENSONALLY.

    I read somewhere (the Terminator wiki) that James Cameron said that Skynet felt guilty for the near destruction of the human race. It orchestrated the Future War in a way that would lead to the rise of John Connor and its own destruction. I’m not sure what the wiki’s source is, but that’s an interesting idea. This goes with the closed loop idea that Skynet sending the T-800 back led to its own creation. Skynet knew it was going to be destroyed by John Connor, so it had to make sure John Connor was born and knew how to fight. It sends the T-800 back, knowing that John would send Kyle back. Kyle fathers John with Sarah, ensuring John’s existence, and when the T-800 is destroyed, it’s parts are used by Cyberdyne to create Skynet, ensuring Skynet’s existence. Then in the future, Skynet sends the T-1000 back so John would gain the necessary knowledge of fighting the machines by fighting a machine before Judgment Day. The Resistance sends the T-800 back to protect John to ensure that John survives his trial by fire. Cyberdyne and it’s research that leads to Skynet being created are destroyed, meaning that Skynet is never created and Judgment Day never occurs and the human race isn’t rendered nearly extinct (T2 Alternate Ending). The machines and Skynet exist because they need to exist for John Connor to exist, who needs to exist so that Skynet exists. They’re paradoxes. All so that Skynet can make sure the human race doesn’t go extinct. If this is what James Cameron intended, then wow, he made the biggest mind fuck in movie history. This is, of course, ignoring all of the non Cameron sequels. T6 will probably make this idea obsolete anyway.

      @@roblone9674 I guess if you want to believe that they're in a loop. I don't think that's the case cause if it was then things would always be the same. How does it keep changing if Reece is always the father? I think there was a timeline zero, one, two, etc cause things keep changing every time they go back. This would make sense because time is linear, if time travel could be possible you would have to assume that an original timeline would have to take place and then whenever time travel became possible is when things are able to change, such as Reece being the father of John. Different Terminator being sent back, etc.

    Hey, the T-800 in terminator 2 said that he was sent by future John thirty five years from 1995. So that means the resistance likely didn’t find out about the T-1000 being sent back to 1995 for more than a year after SkyNet was defeated. So the Resistance, now probably the New United States of America or something, reprogrammed the terminator and sent him to protect John.

    okay, timeline zero, that can't be the original John Connor; the Jason Clarke version from Genisys. isn't that one someone else? O_o
